modes98 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 If this Newcastle game goes to plan there will be a Geordie nation outpouring tonight and daft money going on Shearer. If Shearer gets the fan backing you expect. Do you think Ashley/Mort will be strong willed or follow their example so far and cave in and give Shearer the job? Shearer's odds are increasing and are up to 13/1 on betfair. May throw a few more pennies on him before the match and a pound or 2 on didier.

EwoodGlory Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I think sky have been poor with their reporting on the Newcastle job. Yes them and Setanta keep picking out the fans who want shearer or the ones with the broadest possible geordie accents that most people can't understand. If they can get Camacho, they should. Apart from Arsenal I think Benfica play the most attractive most attractive football I have seen in Europe, from the games I have been able to see anyway, others might know better. He will also kick some a**e's around the place.

brian_gallagher85 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Some sections of Newcastle fans still think its hughes there gonna get. TOONTASTIC 1 person from the look of that thread also got this little gem there just been for a meeting at Brockhall, (rovers training complex) bumped into him in reception, was dying to say something but i was with a client so could not, btw parked my car in savages old space, welsh ###### bye bye
philipl Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Kevin Gallacher in the LT on why Hughes should stay at Rovers. Maybe my memory is playing tricks but I am sure I saw ex-Newcastle striker Gallacher telling the media in the NE what a good manager Hughes and that he would succeed up there.
Presty On Tour Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 i don't know about anyone else but all this speculation, gossip, rumours, predictions etc is doing my head in! most of posts on this topic are complete "tosh" as nicko would say. newcastle are getting excellent media attention at the moment it will surely increase the longer the saga goes on. after the egg on face by harry, why don't they just advertise it in the jobcentre, please send cv to st james park and then they could interview suitable applicants and bingo! simple as that.
trs Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I think people are selling rather than buying just now. If he was getting it the price would be odds-on. If this Newcastle game goes to plan there will be a Geordie nation outpouring tonight and daft money going on Shearer. I see what your saying with the toon fans reaction tonight, however, I think the man they will be singing for will be Keegan! He is the one who tops the polls in Olivers paper (Newcastle evening chronicle) and if anybody is really worshipped up there it's that fella.

modes98 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Just noticed on the BBC site that Brum are said to be very close to securing a deal for James McFadden for £5.7m. Is that the main trigger now sorted for Kapo & Koumas moves?

Is that the main trigger now sorted for Kapo & Koumas moves? Birmingham are nowhere near that figure yet...Kapo could be going elsewhere [Portsmouth] so that is holding up the Wigan move...which, in turn, is delaying Koumas leaving. Part of me thinks Rovers are pleased about that right now. Would you want to push that one through while there is all of the doubt about the manager?
Dunnfc Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Nicko youve converted me into a Mirror reader. How many people now read the mirror when they never used too?
trs Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I have a feeling the beeb regret choosing city and west ham tonight what with the soap opera that is newcastle united. I know some on here and elsewhere will say their sick to death of hearing and seeing them but I'd "love it" just "love it" to see them go a goal or two down in the first 20 minutes and then witness the reaction of the bare chested ones. P.S. How many times as Mick Harford been caretaker boss at Luton

Surprised that Brum are willing to let him leave really. I doubt Hughes will get the Newcastle job and the club surely have to go on the assumption that Hughes will be the manager until at least the end of the season. I'd rather we signed Hughes' targets than wait until the Newcastle job is taken and then try and rush through a few deals at the last minute, with whatever manager, mind you we are normally quite good at doing that.
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 How many times as Mick Harford been caretaker boss at Luton The whole thing spells 'stitch-up' which is rather sad.
CAPT KAYOS Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Nicko - any journey in this -could there be more to it? COLEMAN TO LEAVE?
Dunnfc Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 The whole thing spells 'stitch-up' which is rather sad. Its sad that a football club could go under, but last night they couldnt field a proper team they had centre mids in defense and all sorts, its a shame and youve got to wonder how this has come about? Hope they sort it all out, is the any chance of them folding and gettin wound up? or will some guy buy them?
nicko Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Nicko - any journey in this -could there be more to it? COLEMAN TO LEAVE? Coleman has been hanging onto his job since the start of the season. It's just not worked and I think they are getting rid. I don't expect to see him get another job in a hurry. But...his agent is a bit busy and I'll bet he is linked with a couple of vacancies in the papers tomorrow.
trs Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 The whole thing spells 'stitch-up' which is rather sad. Not always been overkeen on Blackwell even if we do share a dislike of Ternent, but feel for him on a footballing point of view on this one.

rog of the rovers Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Coleman has lead Real Sociedad to fifth in the league, only 9pts seperate them from first, and the top three get promoted automatically anyway so if he does go its probably due to the ridiculous expectations of the fans and board, hmmm where else have I heard that?

Is that the main trigger now sorted for Kapo & Koumas moves? My apologies. Birmingham have made an offer that does add up to that including bonuses. Very heavy money, but still not enough for Everton.
