Cocker Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Why was the other thread closed I wonder (Agree with charging Dida though - the big girl)
KimberleyBRFC Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 according to sky sports....was gonna post on t'other thread but its closed .. I wonder. Did it mention anything about the Celtic Fan? (Hmmm @ post being removed!!) There's was nothing wrong with it
KimberleyBRFC Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 just said he'd been banned for life Thanks
bblue Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 just said he'd been banned for life That was expected I guess. Seems so silly to me...if you're a real fan you'd be really hurt to never be able to step in your home ground again. Is that really worth it for a few seconds of fame?
philipl Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I read he's banned from all home and away Celtic matches for life. Wonder whether charging Dida will have any impact on Cetic's punishment when it comes.
Jan Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I read he's banned from all home and away Celtic matches for life. Wonder whether charging Dida will have any impact on Cetic's punishment when it comes. And I was glad to know he was neither a season ticket holder nor a regular attender. I'd have said he was a Rangers fan, but he came forward and was honest, so he obviously isn't.
OJRovers Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I always wondered how they actually enforce those banning orders - surely in a years time he could just get a mate to buy a ticket and wear a hat and scarf and no-one would notice. (a fake moustache would be taking it too far)
bblue Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I always wondered how they actually enforce those banning orders - surely in a years time he could just get a mate to buy a ticket and wear a hat and scarf and no-one would notice. (a fake moustache would be taking it too far) A friend who's a Leeds fan told me she was at a Wigan friendly at Elland Road and her cousin (probably intoxicated) went down to the Wigan bench and hugged Chris Hutchinson. He was escorted out by the police and they took what name he gave them (which wasn't his real name) and told him he was banned from the ground for good. If that's all the procedure...then it's not a very tough plan. But I suspect it was a very mild incident so they were easy going probably.
philipl Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I think the realities are: 1) If the police use image matching software, the chap who ran onto the pitch will have been photod for 360 degrees and he will be on a database which is continually scrutinising against the all the CCTV imges produced at the ground. 2) More likely the punishment will be a very effective deterrent- if he gets into any sort of scrape in any football ground, he faces a huge problem because his past history file will come up. As it is, whatever punishment Celtic suffer could presumably be grounds for the club to sue him or seek compensation so it is unlikely he's going to have the spare cash to be going to football for a long time.
USRoverME Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 on the news now.... Dida banned 2 games. Celtic get 25K fine, ~ half is deferred if they stay out of trouble for 2 years. Milan plan to appeal. Celtic off a bit light, perhaps, Dida as well, but for a "first of its kind" sentence on Dida, its a start and perhaps a message
modes98 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 IMO Dida has been lucky there as i thought a 3 match ban would have been justified. Still as you say at least it's a start, we need more of these cheaters being brought to justice.

tcj_jones Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I wish Fifa would ban players for doing the same thing week in, week out in the Premier League. Dida's play acting was disgraceful. I wonder if he did it in the knowledge his team had lost the match and, that if he made the most of the incident, Celtic might be thrown out of the compeition and, thus, Milan would have got the points.

I would have thought that was obvious. What else had he to gain?
ABBEY Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 after watching ssn earlier on today they showed other games were fans, players etc were attacked and they all got the results as 0-3 why did celtic not?
American Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I read he's banned from all home and away Celtic matches for life. Lucky barsteward....
InterRovers Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I always wondered how they actually enforce those banning orders - surely in a years time he could just get a mate to buy a ticket and wear a hat and scarf and no-one would notice. (a fake moustache would be taking it too far) In Italy they have to present themselves at the local "Questura" (like a police station) at the time of kickoff. What a pain... but a good way of handling it I think. Of course they have only banned a few people in the history of Italian football so they really need to get that side sorted out. This week they announced that police will be in the curva for many games for the first time, too late coming but will be intresting. Happy to see Dida banned, disgusting behavior. Italian mentality is to win at all costs and he clearly thought he could get the game turned around as happened in the champions league derby when he was hit by a flare. In that case I agree with the game being turned around but this was different. I was hoping for a three game ban but two is a fairly good message from UEFA. Will be a funny two games because Milan's substitute keeper is pap.
Jan Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 after watching ssn earlier on today they showed other games were fans, players etc were attacked and they all got the results as 0-3 why did celtic not? Because those games were all abandoned. The Celtic match wasn't- THANK YOU MARCUS MERCK!!!! And because this wasn't an attack- the fan was charged with breach of the peace, NOT assault.
Mc Love Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I thought it was really funny that he actually ran after the fan and then just fell over!! What a FOOL

And because this wasn't an attack- the fan was charged with breach of the peace, NOT assault. SOmeone comes up and slaps me I'd take it as an attack, and slap 'em back. Celtic off very lightly IMHO, sort of glad though it would have been tough on them if the whole team had been punished for one idiot, has happened in the past though. I wonder how it might have been handled if it was an English team.
Jan Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 SOmeone comes up and slaps me I'd take it as an attack, and slap 'em back. So someone who taps you on the shoulder extremely softly and says "nae luck pal" gets a thwack from you? No wonder your country invades others at the drop of a hat if you're that aggressive. And the police didn't charge him with assault, therefore it wasn't

Glasgow will later on this afternoon be graced with my presence for the weekend.. i think this would be a great conversation starter in any Scottish pub I shall let you know how many slaps I get

So if the Police say it then it's true? Things must have changed a lot then.
