LeftWinger Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Might get court marshalled for posting this Clicky What gets me is the way they keep reporting it on the news on Radio 1. They say the word Faggot a few times, then play the song with it in. Surely the word is being used more now, than when it was just in the song - which if it was going to offend people - it will now. It's political correctness gone mad!

Darth Paul Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 There is actually a campaign to get this song to number one for Xmas instead of the usual X Factor drivel, so this may be a snekay way of raising interest. Best Xmas song ever by the way, go out and buy it! Say no to Simon Cowell!
LeftWinger Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 There is actually a campaign to get this song to number one for Xmas instead of the usual X Factor drivel, so this may be a snekay way of raising interest. Best Xmas song ever by the way, go out and buy it! Say no to Simon Cowell! I'm all for that. The X Factor song is absolute gash. If that gets to number one (as I'm sure it will) it shows how marketing can sell anything!
AlanK Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Radio 1 have done a u turn and re-instated the word What a load of nonsense, bloody idiots.
adopted scouser Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Should have censored the whole record, it's @#/?. Censor all the usual suspects - Shaky, Wham, Mud, Wizzard, Slade. Would you like some bread Mister Scrooge ? How much is it ? Penny a slice No Bread
Anti Euro Smiths Fan Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 On a slightly related politically correct note - earlier this year Jeremy Clarkson was in hot water from the media watchdog Ofcom after he described a car on Top Gear as "ginger beer". Ofcom said that the phrase - rhyming slang for 'queer' - could offend homosexuals. The BBC condemned the comment from Clarkson and told Top Gear presenters to avoid comments which related to "sexual orientation". What a sensitive politically correct nation we've become.... Cocker Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Don't worry, the sky's not falling yet. Aye but read to the bottom (no pun intended) They just cant win:- However, veteran gay rights activist Peter Tatchell said Radio 1's original actions were right. "The word faggot is being sung as an insult, alongside scumbag and maggot. In this abusive context it is unacceptable," he said.
Rovermatt Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Peter Tatchell sounds like a fool. Luckily he doesn't make the decisions at Radio 1.
Guest Dik Bleek Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Having a gay time used to be having a happy time, and a faggot was a meat ball, what other words are these sickos going to hijack!
Rovermatt Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Having a gay time used to be having a happy time, and a faggot was a meat ball, what other words are these sickos going to hijack! Dik and Bleek?
American Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 We'll have a gay old time...... WIIIIILLLLLLLLMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAA The sad thing is that most of the "activists" don't speak for the majority they are supposed to be advocates for.
LeftWinger Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Having a gay time used to be having a happy time, and a faggot was a meat ball, what other words are these sickos going to hijack! Yes, having a gay time with a faggot used to be something totally different all together.
SouthAussieRover Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Has everyone got over seeing Santa kissing mummy under the Christmas tree?
thenodrog Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I guess it's difficult to find a replacement term that rhymes with maggot. [Deleted] *Edited by Ricky, not really needed was it Drog*
Ste B Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Dik and Bleek? More Dick and Head to be fair.
Guest Dik Bleek Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Was there something wrong with what I wrote or is it a bit close to home for you?
DP Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Your thoughtful anti-PC post wasn't very PC Mr Bleak... unless you were being ironic, which in that case it was very funny... As for faggots, I've always prefered a bit of haggis. Similar taste though wouldn't you agree?
Rovermatt Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Was there something wrong with what I wrote or is it a bit close to home for you? I'm pretty sure there's a whole lot wrong with much of the stuff you write on here. In any case, I always thought a faggot was a piece of wood you threw on the fire.

thenodrog Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 No it's both .... Cambridge Online dictionary faggot (HOMOSEXUAL) noun [C] (INFORMAL fag) MAINLY US SLANG a homosexual man. This word is considered offensive when it is used by people who are not homosexual. Which makes one wonder what it is considered as when it is used by faggo... err..... homosexuals?
adopted scouser Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 No it's a faggot. Strangely enough, when you throw it on the fire you only get a puff of smoke.
