ffan Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Villa have bid accepted for Kevin Prince Boateng and Routledge.
Gav Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Whilst we don't want to buy for the sake of buying anyone can see that we're not good enough to challenge the top four and will probably finish mid table. A more worrying fact is that Hughes will see his job done here very shortly because of the lack of funds. I have no doubt in my mind that if Newcastle had come calling he'd have gone. We don't want to put the club in any sort of financial danger but the best young manager in the Premiership will walk if the club can’t back him, and that is a real worry for us all.
ffan Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Why do you label a scottish international who has played almost 100 league games for Rangers and also have Champions League experience, unproven? Because he has never played in the Premier league thus unproven.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Villa have bid accepted for Kevin Prince Boateng and Routledge. KP Boateng is an awful player. He had a lot of hype before signing for Spurs but his on the pitch performances have been dreadful.
Hughesy Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Ha ha Yes I think what you have said still doesn’t prove anything. Remember a certain Barry Ferguson? He played 150+ games and scored over 20 goals before he joined us. Again in the champs league/ Uefa Cup and with many winners medals. He came to a real league (THE BEST IN THE WORLD) and couldn’t handle it! Nothing to say someone even younger is going to cut it either. Why do you label a scottish international who has played almost 100 league games for Rangers and also have Champions League experience, unproven?
modes98 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Have you been watching the Apprentice again Modes? You're sounding a bit like Sir Alan Sugar. We'll be ok. Yes i have and that's why it pains me to say your business head was not on today and that's why....Robbo....you're fired. Ok is fine. This season 4th is really up for grabs, maybe the board should have realised this and given sparky every penny they could find in the sofa just to try and get us up to it. It may not have worked but i just feel our squad is a bit thin and some players just aren't up for the fight. Maybe the players just aren't available and at that point you have to stick your hands up and call it a day. There's still a little bit of time left and sparky normally pulls one out of the bag.
mattjansen Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 No, unfortunately it's the truth. Based on what? They signed two defenders in january? They are 11 points behind us and we beaten them at their ground this season, why is everybody so obsessed with the great spurs?! They are like Newcastle, top cash players and no trophies.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 KP Boateng is an awful player. He had a lot of hype before signing for Spurs but his on the pitch performances have been dreadful. I don't think Boateng is going to Villa...
Hughesy Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I think with Reid coming back, Ooijer back, Dunn regaining some of his old ability and still awaiting for Pedersen & McCarthy to hit form, we still have a lot more that we can get out of our current group of lads. Who knows if 4th is possible or not?!! IF Pedersen & McCarthy were back on form, then we would surely be the best team (bar Liverpool) in the hunt for 4th place?
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 KP Boateng is crap. All talk down the road. Bla bla bla. They think they're losing Elliott and Lafferty too.
Eddie Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I don't think Boateng is going to Villa... I'd quite like him to sign for us...but I'm guessing he isn't Ewood bound.
ffan Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I don't think Boateng is going to Villa... On ssn breaking news and we all know that you should never question the breaking news.
American Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Ha ha Yes I think what you have said still doesn’t prove anything. Remember a certain Barry Ferguson? He came to a real league (THE BEST IN THE WORLD) and couldn’t handle it! Nothing to say someone even younger is going to cut it either. Ferguson was playing quite well before the injury. And he was too much of a pratt to fully recover before he had his hissy fit and left.
tchocky Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Why do you label a scottish international who has played almost 100 league games for Rangers and also have Champions League experience, unproven? Suppose he meant unproven in the premier league. Which he is..

Dunn has made it through a year without falling apart, and Roque's knees are holding up. Tugay is around til the Summer. 1) We have some money but no-one to spend it on (ie: the options are not good enough to warrant a purchase). OR 2) We have no (a little bit of) money and will wait. Either option suggests that there isn't many players who meet our criteria. If Benni and MGP can finish the season on fire then we will make the top 6.

Ferguson was among our best players after getting a few games under his belt. His problem was that he got homesick. His skills as a footballer were more then good enough to be a regular at our team.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Villa have bid accepted for Kevin Prince Boateng and Routledge. There will be another club in for Boateng...
Fife Rover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Most of us are people who know about the Caps Lock key! To say nothing of how to ask a question in a civil manner; and not in a beligerent and demanding manner. Just a little tip to this newcomer; if you come on here in the right attitude, and ask or chat in a normal tone of voice (not capitals for everything), then I think you will get an equally civil answer from virtually all members, but to come on shouting your head off and demanding "WHERE'S NICO SOMEBODY UPSET HIM" or words to that effect, and without any sign of punctuation, then you can't expect to get a civil answer. Fairly simple to understand ?
ffan Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 There will be another club in for Boateng... Not Blackburn then?
krislu Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Suppose he meant unproven in the premier league. Which he is.. Yes, but then you could just play that "card" on just about every signing done by Premier League clubs. Hutton is a young player and playing in Scotland is not that different form playing in England.
Eddie Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Indeed, but we have only lost Savage and gained Reid. Dunn has made it through a year without falling apart, and Roque's knees are holding up. Either option suggests that there isn't many players who meet our criteria. If Benni and MGP can finish the season on fire then we will make the top 6. No, we haven't gained Reid. We came into this season expecting to be back and a good number of us still thought we were light in central midfield. Now we have no Savage, no Mokoena for a bit longer and you still expect us to rely on Tugay? Come on folks, this is the premiership. Which one of our central midfielders even makes the bench of one of the other top 10 sides based on form this season?
Hughesy Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Reid or Bentley would make it into the team of anyone from Everton down.
Silencio Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Why dont you go back and read ? Like I said jobsworth, maybe I missed it when I looked. Would it not have been quicker to answer the question than be an arsehole?
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Not Blackburn then? No. I would suggest it means Huddlestone isn't available just now either...
