philipl Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Selling at any price under £18m is at Rovers' discretion.

CrazyIvan Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I'm still more than a little untrusting when reading reports of a player saying he wants to leave in the newspapers. We've seen words twisted and things completely taken out of context so, until I see Roque say it in person like Bentley did, I'll reserve judgement. We know Roque's agent wants a big move for him because that gives him a huge payday but I haven't heard Roque himself say he wants to leave. I might not have been listening mind you... I hope he sticks around and gives us one more really good season. If he does it'll be like a new signing next season and his price will go up again. I don't see how we can lose apart from potentially missing out on one of the huge theoretical sums that have been bandied about and are most likely never going to materialise anyway. He's worth more to us fit and firing on all cylinders than sold to a rival for less than half of his worth at the end of last season. If he gets back to his best he can drive us closer to a European slot with all the benefits that brings in money and attracting his replacement. Do you think any decent striker, replacing Roque, will want to move to a club just about avoiding relegation this season? Do you think anybody is going to want a striker who hasn't played all season because of injury either? That's a hell of a gamble.
Amo Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Didn't nicko tell us that Roque's agent confronted the board about selling him, but Roque refused to back him up?
modes98 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 whatever happened to his brother? Plays in the reserves. Doesn't seem to have done much so far. Nick Blackman and Marcus Marshall are doing better.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 At this point we should all remember that whether Roque wants to go or not. We still hold his contract. So if we don't want to sell for anything under £18 million. Then he can kick his heals and scream as much as he likes. He aint going anywhere unless that magic number is bid.

SA will want him away in order to bring in his own style of player. Good player that RSC is he has shown no commitment to the club and I'm sure that SA will not want a player with no heart and no commitment who is simply content to sit on the treatment table and gobble up the wages of two good players.
Bennisfromheaven Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Didn't nicko tell us that Roque's agent confronted the board about selling him, but Roque refused to back him up? Is Nicko around to confirm this, i wanted to ask him if he knew if Roque wanted to leave & if he is engineering a move??

thenodrog Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 in that case why did he not go in jan With Ince leaving us adrift in the bottom two, and Sam Allardyce unable to replace him like for like in the time that Man City allowed us in the last couple of days of the Jan window it would have been deemed a massive betrayal of the supporters by the club. If we had gone down it would have had a similar effect to the fall off in support following the 1960 FA Cup Final fiasco. You would have been first to stick the knife in too waggy. Still why am I explaining this to you ? You know it full well and are simply on another sh1tstirring exercise. btw From now on I think I'll bin using the boardname 'waggy'. The old waggy is long gone. Your agenda to actually harm and foment ill feeling toward BRFC is so plain that I think Judas will be far more accurate from now on.
modes98 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 SA will want him away in order to bring in his own style of player. What a targetman in the box? You can't get more targetman like that Rocky, plus he has great feet on the ball. Surely the main reason BS will want shot of Rocky is to open up the funds to improve the squad, as he has no money coming down from on high.
nicko Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Is Nicko around to confirm this, i wanted to ask him if he knew if Roque wanted to leave & if he is engineering a move?? Roque wants out now - and has done for some time. He didn't push it in January for his own reasons. I don't know what they were at the time. However he certainly did not back up his agent at the death when he was trying to push through the Man City deal. He has said repeatedly 'back home' that he wants to go to a bigger club. But with his injury problems I think it is going to be very hard for him to find that bigger club this summer without playing for Rovers again at the start of the next campaign. Spurs like him, but won't pay top dollar for someone with a bad knee. I am not having the Arsenal or Liverpool stories at the moment. This will probably make a mess of any transfer planning - as Rovers need the dough to go and spend it elsewhere. It could be a difficult summer. More on that subject later...like Sunday.

Are you hinting at any (perhaps unrelated to that other rumour) takeover news?
American Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Sorry if this has already been discussed, I did try to look... Do Bayern have a sell on clause that anyone knows of? I'm just think that, even though he wasn't playing that well for Bayern, we got him at a very cheap price. I wouldn't be surprised if there was. For someone who had never scored double digits in goals (and am I reading correctly that he never had more than 5 in a season in the league?!?!) and had a history of injuries, some (Eddie) might argue we overpaid. I'd say it was about fair.
nicko Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Are you hinting at any (perhaps unrelated to that other rumour) takeover news? There is no takeover news. But there will be some interesting transfer info.
Hughesy Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Like what? The preston keeper who is on his way to ewood and Brown the other way?
Billy Castell Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 There is no takeover news. But there will be some interesting transfer info. We'll sign Xavi for £200,000? I doubt the real news will be owt exciting, unless RSC is finally going for a massive wedge of cash.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 There is no takeover news. But there will be some interesting transfer info. I have a horrible feeling that were going to be in for more of the 'Robbie Fowler' callibre style players this summer if we are AGAIN short on cash. Sam's done the business, and the 'owners' should back him to make sure we can at least maintain our status next season. Nicko... Any chance of a player exchange involving Roque going to Spuds... I have been hearing rumours... But there will be some interesting transfer info. Oh god. With tone like that it's going to be either Warnock or Samba...
bubblerrovers Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Well surely it is someone who might be leaving us nicko?? as you said how can rovers plan transfers if have no idea what our budget is, unless a free obviously

RSC represents 2 good players in cost.

gazsimm Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Time for RSC monthly update " Roque Santa Cruz has reiterated his desire to leave Blackburn Rovers for a bigger club in the summer" Source - Setanta sport website he better get fit then and start playing again, because if he is still on the treatment table come the summer he won't be going to a big club!!!
Hughesy Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 He's a n0bhead - end of. Im sick and tired of him banging on about how he wants to move, more ambition, bigger club etc.... Why doesnt he also tell the press he is willing to let his cut of the deal go if he does move...
