AussieinUk Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 As I said, not picking a fight and I agree that everyone is entitled to an opinion. Personally, I thought our wage bill should have dropped by quite a large margin, but that may change very soon with some exciting new signings (not fowler) I am not saying someone is more right than another, just saying we should have big bucket of cash. Question; How much money do you think we have in the kitty? £10-25m? EDIT; spelling mistake - oops
Bazzanotsogreat Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I would say most of what philip posted isn't going to be too far away, its safe to assume we will be keeping the £4 million to one side to make the Villanueva deal permanent if we want to. (No point deciding we want him if we cant afford him!) That would put us with somewhere around 18-20 million to spend. It may be worth considering some money being put to one side to make the Simpson deal permanent if he does well and if RFW is willing to sell. He would probably cost 2-4 million so in my opinion were probably looking at somewhere around £15 million to spend. FFS Phillip Only last week wrote that we have 15m only to spend having a go at anyone who dared to differ with his opinion- this week as per usual he has changed his mind. The trust have stated that in Jan- they will release more funds Secondly it has been widely discusse there is NO clause to buy simpson

The trust have stated that in Jan- they will release more funds Secondly it has been widely discusse there is NO clause to buy simpson Fair enough if what you say about philip is true. But it could just be that more information is available to him now? Anyway as someone else said, what we can all agree on is that we have a considerable amount to spend compared to previous seasons. As for Simpson, I'm not saying we have a clause in place, I know that's not the case, but it would make sense to have money to buy him if we decide we do want to TRY and make it permanent. That's why I only speculated the price and said it was dependant on RFW being willing to sell.
Lathund Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 FFS Phillip Only last week wrote that we have 15m only to spend having a go at anyone who dared to differ with his opinion- this week as per usual he has changed his mind. The way I see it it's usually the other way around - you stalking Philipl and having a go at every post he makes. Which gets rather tiresome after a while even for a neutral such as myself. I just know whenever I see a Bazza post that it's going to be about phil, just as surely as a vinjay post would be about the trust, or a JAL post will be about Dunn (Or, lately, Fowler).
philipl Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Yes but the chaimans comments were before the departure of three of the highest earners at the club & before hughes & co left for city. Clear and simple question- What do you believe the wage-bill to be on the 8th of August 2008? Stop hiding behind long posts- a short two or three line answer will suffice Dont talk to me about accounting cylces & 2007. Budgets can be changed as they are daily within football, we didnt budget for the loss of Hughes & Co nor the loss of three of the highst earners at the club £39.25m- I have posted it twice already. And you clearly don't have the first clue about how any company does its annual accounting.
USRoverME Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Unfortunately this is the downside of this message board,at times i really get fed up with the sniping. quoted for truth and emphasis!
American Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Duffer?!? Dailly? Peacock? Andy Kennedy? Dr. Frederick Chilton? (I'm having an old friend for dinner....)
DingleBaiter Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 As a relative newbie to this forum, it does seem Philip seems to be a bit of Jason Wilcox-type, in that he seems to come in for a bit of gyp from the cheap seats. From what I've seen, he does post some informative stuff, and TBH I haven't the time or inclination to keep track of if he changes his facts or not. As has been pointed out already, maybe new facts become available, or maybe it doesn't really matter. Seems to be more a case of hidden agendas, character clash, or other issues, at least the guy is trying to pass information on (as most people try to). If one is on a mission to ensure all the posts on here are true and non-contradictory, there's bigger more obvious targets, good luck - you'll be busy. I'm sure even Nicko will agree, not all his stuff is 100% kosher - no matter how much he knows, stuff just changes - it's the way of the world. If you don't agree with what Philip writes, fine - that's your view. By all means dispute it if you wish, but it seems more the case you've got a beef with him, rather than anything else. The problem with the internet, and the (dis)information age is data integrity, amongst many other things. There often isn't a right, or wrong, answer any more. Even if there was, one wouldn't always believe it anyway! With all this said, I do see both sides of the argument with regard to the finances, and there are valid comments in both stances. But neither of you are Deloitte & Touche or JW are you?
colbert Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Duff or Neil. i rekon neil. Disclaimer - i have the right to edit this at around 23.05.
rovers1995 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 All of the people that Nicko mentioned have been recent trialists at blackburn so that is why the 'old friend' will be fowler
Fife Rover Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Duff or Neil. i rekon neil. Disclaimer - i have the right to edit this at around 23.05. Oh no you don't! At least not until you have had your share of rotten eggs and overripe tomatoes hurled at you with glee and gloating from all corners of the site.
modes98 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Sounds a lot like Duffer to me. I spoke to him in Monte CArlo about a month and a half back. When I asked when he was coming back he just laughed. If Annan joins Arsenal cause we couldnt get our finger out on time, it would be hugely disappointing... That is exactly what Annan's agent wants you to think! Let's be honest if Arsenal are sniffing around I doubt he'l turn down CL football.
brfc_jonesy Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 " I want ANNAN" MILF or Grandma MILF ?? hahaha! nice!
Krillin Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 My guess for 'the old friend' would be Castillo. Ince recently hinted that there was still a chance of a deal. He's an 'old friend' of The Rovers because of the shenanaghins concerning his trial/ownership. Good news for those who were disappointed he wasn't signed at the time and seemingly was messed around. Bad news for those who now want Annan as it is going to be a choice of the two and not both (maybe not even a choice, if he is being courted by other clubs now). Would also explain the "raincheck"/reported other interest being taken on Annan. ....either that or the recent money generated from sales has enabled the Trustees to reduce the asking price and Dan Williams is set to take over next week.
Manchester Blue Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Robbie Savage (Only joking its fowler) Funnily enough I thought the same thing today.
thenodrog Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Could you imagine Kennedy and Benni up front? - I'm not sure who'd be offside the most! Ostenstad
imarover Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 how about the old friend being Pedersen? (as in not being known as Gamst anymore?) or....... Shabani Nonda? or...... the boss of the Norwegian club who wants to taake Gallagher on loan (but whose name escapes me..)
alexanders Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 how about the old friend being Pedersen? (as in not being known as Gamst anymore?) or....... Shabani Nonda? or...... the boss of the Norwegian club who wants to taake Gallagher on loan (but whose name escapes me..) EGIL OSTENSTAD Barry Ferguson I think Castillo is a very good shout.
The1mattjansen Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Barry Ferguson I'll bare my rear end in Greame Souness's face if that happens.
BRFC1995 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 been watching clips of the paraguay striker cabanas and just seen his goals ratio. My question to nicko now is how do we draw mr.inces attention to this fella, although i'd imagine roque already has. What an absolute dream strike force that could be.....certainly a step up from fowler.( old footy management game never had the rights to use real player names...liverpools no.9 was someone called basil trowler..magic)
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I'll bare my rear end in Greame Souness's face if that happens. Bare in mind that they have just crashed out of europe ...if he brings T4E's mate with him it's a deal
67splitscreen Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 is it me or does it look like that pretty much all the goals that Djebbour scores are from around 6 yards No, unless they have moved the pen spot nearer.
