rovers1995 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I wasn't born in 1995 i just call myself that because of the year we won the league. I was born in 1990
den Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Williams has said that Ince has been very impressed with Annan. It's obvious Rovers want/wanted the deal to happen. We'll just have to wait and see if it comes to fruition. Have you heard JW say anyone is rubbish? Of course both him and Ince are going to say they were impressed. That doesn't mean they want to sign him.
JohnS Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 It is frustrating that were just picking up scraps i.e. loans etc. I see Man City are being linked to Ronaldo, something is not right there Nicko. What about this Moutinho guy, is he on his way to Everton? Will we have new faces by the time we play our first game next week?
DingleBaiter Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Nicko, let's throw this into mix - it's an (moderately) alarming prospect - do you think there is any chance they WON'T sign anyone to play RM and 'make do & mend' given their hot prospect/secret weapon forward should be back with us this time next year? I guess it's down to availability - if Benedict goes, and we can't get another replacement in, and/or we can't get a good deal/Hollywood player 'to replace' Bentley, especially given Incey trying to be long-sighted about things, there could be a chance I reckon we'd stick with what we have & put our hope on him coming through next season. It's a gamble, a big one, but it placates the folks holding the coffers at Ewood - at least til Jan window - and what's the point in having big hopes for an Academy graduate to come through otherwise? I don't want to put names into the mix but there's one obvious candidate for RW/forward & two that MAY come through this season to be around the squad for RW. Although not immediately ready - tis a big step up - given the club's conviction to expansion of the Academy, and Ince's hopes for Judgey, it's not outlandish IMO. Not exactly adventurous & a fan-pleasing move I admit.
krislu Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 New season starts in a week and we have yet to pull of any big signings. Makes you wonder if we really had a transfer budget of 10 million in the first place. This guy form chile might be good, and robbinson will hopefully not make too many costly mistakes. What can we really expect from our current squad.
BlueMG Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Come on lads be honest with the young lad, he's only curious. There's a link below Nicko is the one on the screen, it should also explain why he is privy to all the insider info he has!! Nicko Revealed Not seen that before. Absolute class. I'd rather have the embarrassment of that than what the Norwich fans have to put up with at half time.
modes98 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 we will have to sign this annan guy quick-before any other clubs get in their before us... Annan has been touted around for summer after summer. There is probably a good reason we haven't taken a chance on him in the past, maybe now is the time but if it isn't i shouldn't worry he'll still be being linked with us next summer and the summer after. For the rest of eternity!
krislu Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 we will have to sign this annan guy quick-before any other clubs get in their before us... haha, Annan is nothing but an average player that will in no way improve our team a whole lot.
Rover-the-Top Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 A thought on Annan - according to here, he needs a work permit. If it takes as long as it did with Villanueva, surely it's matter of course that he goes back to Stabaek for now?

If it takes as long as it did with Villanueva, surely it's matter of course that he goes back to Stabaek for now? Maji, ask your sister to get her white dress out! (praying to god she isn't called Anne or Diane or she may not go through with it!)
brfcs5359 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Let me clear this up. Nicko brought it up. Don't worry, welcome to the site Paul. NUFC is viewed with much humour and it's nice to have a Geordie who doesn't think Premiership title this season, Champions League Final next... 'biggest club in Europe' 'best fans in Europe'
Fife Rover Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Good point, but I thought we wanted a holder, Sable and a box to box player, annan. Annan probably just gone back to ask his mum if its OK that he comes and plays with his new friends. If he's impressed as well as we have heard (could just be agent talk) then I'm sure JW will wield his magic wand and turn him into a rover. Just hope they hurry up bfore some other club jumps in on the back of Rovers good trial reports and signs him while we are still thinking about it.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I'm disappointed with the apparent breakdown over Annan, John Williams was quoted in the LT as saying he could hardly have done any better whilst he was over here so it seems strange we're fannying about asking to see him play in one more game. If he's good enough he's good enough, and if we were that impressed with him to reach an advanced stage of negotiations, how can one game suddenly be the clincher? What happens if he has a poor game? It also looks increasingly likely that we'll be starting the season without a replacement for Bentley, I thought to be honest once he was sold, we'd have snapped up Pennant or Lennon. Excellent move replacing Friedel with Robinson but thereafter merely getting a couple of youngsters in on loan is probably being a bit overcautious in the wake of Bentley's sale.
Ewood and I Would Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Apparently we're "desperate" to keep benni and thus Sunderland will go fro Doyle, any truth? http://www.eleven-a-side.com/acrossthewater/news.asp?n=33469
hawkiiz Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 dont worry. if rovers people are going to norway, they will probably go south, to meet with his club, Start. and have someone go to the game up west to chat with Annan. he was never going to stay any longer anyway. its now it all starts. no concrete deal has been made at this point said Start earlier today. it may have changed now. who knows.

Im not panicking just yet, I am pretty sure we will get some serious players in. Two on top of Annan at least.

Not exactly adventurous & a fan-pleasing move I admit. I'm starting to think it's Judge's season. Bringing through an Academy player is a gamble but also a great way for a new manager to try and win over a sceptical crowd. Judge looks good in the pre-season games I've seen - just hope he still looks as good when the "proper" tackles start flying in.
Torgeir Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 It's all a bit strange just now. Not the first time this summer. Good to know we're actively pursuing a striker as Benni's replacement - hopefully things are happening below the radar with regards to a right sided midfielder too. Have you picked up any more names for that position?
Ewood and I Would Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 dont worry. if rovers people are going to norway, they will probably go south, to meet with his club, Start. and have someone go to the game up west to chat with Annan. he was never going to stay any longer anyway. its now it all starts. no concrete deal has been made at this point said Start earlier today. it may have changed now. who knows. I still think Annan will sign to be honest, he is too good to turn down at such a low price. I know players don't always fulfil their potential but if you're being called the New Michael essien and the likes of Milan and Chelsea have shown interest he's got to have something. At 22 and under £2m it is definately worth the risk. Unlike Sable and Castillo who are unlikely to get better Annan almost definately will. The only reason I could see for him not coming is we can't wait or risk another "star of the future" at the moment (Villanueva) or that Annan has been tapped up by someone else. However I think Hawkiiz' version is more likely to be correct and that this is nothing that unsual.

Fair shout, it would be absolutely inspired if it came off - one of our own to get behind, saving us 7m quid and a fortune in wages to boot - and not something that would ever have happened under Hughes.
Lathund Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Nicko knows more than he's letting on. Annan will sign! He expects us to have A N Other in midfield by the start of the season, right? Well, "annan" in Swedish (And, I think, in Norwegian, but perhaps spelled with an e) means "other". His first name, Anthony, obviously starts with an A. Now I don't know if his middle name starts with an N, but it's not unheard of for people to adapt nonsense initials to make their name sound more impressive. So Annan is A. N Other, and will sign for us this month.
hawkiiz Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 santa got a little bruised at wolves and have only managed some jogging since. he will not play tomorrow, and are doubtful for everton. (let) if we are unlucky then he will get better, only to have a new kick on his achilles, and then he is done. with that risk, how on earth can we consider selling benni?
Bazrakats Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 12.10 Blackburn Rovers striker Maceo Rigters has joined Barnsley on loan, skysports.com understands. One forward shorter already
