nicknj72 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Hi boys and girls Not been on for a few days, but i sense a happy bunch....great win against the barcodes How we beat the Mackams, i'll never know! We were awful !!! I saw your game on MOTD, terrific stuff and the start of your climb!!!! it'll be interesting to see who gets sucked into the relegation zone - i'd love to see Spurs in the sh1t. After what happened with Bentley in the summer, perhaps you might feel the same haha Reason i'm posting is re the rumours about Bellamy <spit> and Kaka possibly to sign for Man City. Do you think RSC will be able to put it all behind him, as Barry has tried to do at Villa? Do you think City will still make a move for him? Rumours on our heroesandvillains website has us strongly tipped to get Darren Bent this week. After seeing him miss a header Fern Britton could have nailed, i'm wondering what to make of it !!! haha All the best! Nick

nicko Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Nicko - I would have thought you , more than anyone, would have realised that Rovers didn't buy the Premiership. The team that won the Premiership cost less than most of our rivals. Everyone remembers Shearer and Sutton, as expensive buys - nobody seems to give Dalglish and Harford credit for signings like Hendry, Berg and Le Saux. Or the important parts that an ex-youth team player (Wilcox) and ex-right back (Atkins) played in our success. Another important factor - Jack always wanted Rovers to be self-sufficient - I can't see how City - even if they won every competition they entered could ever recoup Kaka size fees and salary. Another major difference, I feel, Dalglish and Harford bought players to work to an overall master plan - the Kaka transfer to me doesn't seem part of an overall plan aimed at a set team pattern. No matter what Hughes says - I think he has little to do with this one. Rovers would not have won the title without the players they bought...no point in saying otherwise and no shame in admitting it either. Hendry had to be bought back. Berg was signed on a good contract and Le Saux obviously the same. Flowers, Kenna, Sherwood, Batty, Shearer, Ripley, Sutton, Newell...all signed. Good choices. There were others who were not quite so good, but you could afford mistakes back then. The fact is they couldn't afford a stamp before Jack got involved and a couple of years later were winning things. In its way it was the Man City of its time. That's the way it was and no bad thing. The truth is it will take Arab multi-millions to re-create that now and win a title. The game has moved on so much. Nicko - any more contact over Roque by City?? Man City will do the Bellamy thing quickly. I think they will also try to do Palacios shortly too - because they have opposition. There is NO rival bidder for Roque, so it will come down to staring down Rovers over the price. The bad news is that this could run until the window is about to shut...which is the nightmare scenario.
ml1dch Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Nicko do you think or know if Bent will be available from Spurs?
nicknj72 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Nicko If Rovers really want to keep RSC then they could do a "show me the money by Jan 23rd", couldn't they? Or do they secretly want the cash in order to rebuild and move on? Taking the money is one thing, but re-investing it wisely is another. I remember when Villa sold Yorke and we ended up buying ###### like Steve Stone !!!!! Nick Nicko do you think or know if Bent will be available from Spurs? If Bent is available for, let's say, 10M (a figure clutched from the air!), I'd be interested, as I think he'd be good for Rovers. I'd like him at Villa to be honest with you, but I'm not sure if Martin wants him !!

nicknj72 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I saw it live on Sky this pm. Terrible wasn't it!!! His whole body language looked awful when he came on, so i wasn't surprised. Tottenham appear to make a habit of making previously good players turn garbage; Bale, Bentley, Bent. Perhaps it's just if their surname begins with a B ?!?!?! Nick
Backroom Tom Posted January 18, 2009 Backroom Posted January 18, 2009 The bastion of all knowledge Adrian chiles has just said West Ham have had 2 more bids for Bellamy, City have bid LESS than spurs but the Wham board wont deal with Spurs, hence him going as Nicko has obviously already told us to city
Hughesy Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Im not suprised Bent didnt look happy, top scorer yet offered out in part ex for Jones or Bellamy. If I was him I would want a transfer out now.
LessThanJake Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I was told that Bent's going to Villa. He's a decent player with a good scoring record - Rovers could do worse. If only they had the cash Actually, seeing as Im here and posting for once I'll be cheeky - is there any likely activity involving the mighty Carlisle United, Nicko?
dlukeg1 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Robinson Emerton--Ooijer--Nelsen--Warnock Samba Dunn--Andrews--Grella--Pedersen Any of the three Could be a handy formation away from home. Almost a good setup but lets agree to dump Andrews, not his fault but he is not a premier player and put in Vogel if we have no other choice.
braddock Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Almost a good setup but lets agree to dump Andrews, not his fault but he is not a premier player and put in Vogel if we have no other choice. or you could shut up
begresko Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 or you could shut up first point. has this just become guess a team forum. No wonder so many people refresh hoping someone has out something interesting on. Lets talk about transfers. And second. Your wrong. Agree with Braddock
Hughesy Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Vogel, Mokoena, Brown & Gallagher should all be sold. That says how much id pick any of them above Andrews.
Hi Mack Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Nicko, is there a list of strikers being compiled in the event RSC goes? mentioned so far(not officially, just off here) -Janko -Bent -Gueye (sp?) We cant really leave it late, McCarthy and JR are playing well but if injury or loss in form occur we will be in the shizer!
beerwins Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Not sure why so many people seem to be struggling to see andrews isnt good enough, he fades in and out of the game too many times, if he is played with a good player he may just cut it but he need to play alongside a talisman player to get the best out of him, dunny could play well with him or even grella but he is giving 100% every time he plays, what happens when his form drops? its an influential area of the pitch and as we witnessed yesterday when better quality players came on the game lifted. All this being said he could be a good impact player off the bench but i dont want to see him start or be relied upon to start due to injuries. Having been a rovers fan for a very long time, my old man too one thing i see with rovers fans is that sometimes 100% effort is seen as good enough to play for rovers, but my view on the subject is that talent is more important than effort especially in the the centre of the park, to me grella holding and dunny creating is the key but if one gets injured then what ? When you look at top teams over the years they all have influential centre mid players , scholes, lampard , gerrard, even savage at a push, now palacios being linked everywhere, i have played a lot of football over the years and i know when a centre mid holds the ball and gives defenders the time to move into better spaces, and attackers to move looking for the through ball its what makes a winning team, i didnt see any of that first half , and when i saw it second half andrews wasnt involved, dont get me wrong i implore the lads work ethic he really does try but the sooner sam sees he is a worker and not a creator the better rovers will be.
roversmum Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 How do you know shat Sam has or has not seen? There has been little choice in midfield with first choice Grella and Dunn out.
Zulu Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 How do you know shat Sam has or has not seen? There has been little choice in midfield with first choice Grella and Dunn out. Surely a comment worthy of a Bolton or Burnley fan, Mum? Not one of Blackburn's finest!
Majiball Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Gueida Fofana? Spanish top 100 youngsters list Edit: Beaten to it why does the list say he plays for Fenerbache?? I thought he signed for them in the summer?
thenodrog Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 oooops... Must be subliminal thoughts about Andrews mum cos 's' is nowhere near the 't'.
Majiball Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Must be subliminal thoughts about Andrews mum cos 's' is nowhere near the 't'. Good players make poor players look better than they are.
nicko Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 BENT - Spurs would sell [before the miss] but the price is huge...around £10 million or more. ROQUE - The timing of the Man City offer is sadly down to them. REPLACEMENTS - Janko is the price comes down would be favourite. Gueye is probably regardless - his agent is here but not sure about the player yet despite that being the info from France yesterday. BELLAMY - Man City HAVE matched Tottenham's offer...he is going there...you knew that last night, Adrian Chiles obviously didn't.
rovers1993 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 anything on calve, chrieten, soterietes (sp) and the other player we were watching in spain?
Roost Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Bent is very very average - no wonder Spuds would sell at £10M I would rather pay the £1.2M for Lita that QPR have offered and trouser the change for another player.
T4E Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 BENT - Spurs would sell [before the miss] Speaking of which, did anyone see Sinama-Pongolle's miss last night? Terrible.
