SergioPeter89 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Pedersen said on sky this week that he wants a new blackburn contract and he loves it here, so can't see that being true. Was thinking the same thing.. But he says there in the video interview that if he gets an interested club, then he cant rule out that he would pay himself out of the contract.

nicko Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 http://msn.tv2sporten.no/fotball/england/article2761822.ece An interview with Morten Gamst Pedersen, where he says that he is considering using the Webster Rule, so that he can buy himself from his contract now this summer. Odd story...you have to give the club notice before the end of the club season if you intend to use the 'Webster rule.' And, as far as I know, that hasn't happened.

And, as far as I know, that hasn't happened. But thats an odd rule Nicko if the player doesnt have a new club lined up. So he couldnt say he wants to use the webster rule, if no club wants him. Will just put his current club into a situation by saying, well we no longer want you and cash in anyway.

Sounds like Morten is either [a] not bright or got a daft agent. Possibly both.
SergioPeter89 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Iceman. In the article, it says that a famous european club is very interested in getting Gamst Diversen..
artemorethanlabore Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 TV "MGP can be the first Norweigan player to use the so called Webster-ruling" MGP "If you want do use it, you can. No one can deny you the opportunity." TV "If so, Morten must pay one years salary, about 20 million kroner (~2.3mill euros)" MGP "It is a somewhat controversial thing, to be able to buy your way out of a contract. There will probably be more speculation in the future because of it (?/not quite sure on the last part, whether he's talking about his own future or transfers in general)" TV "TV2 knows that a European top club has shown strong interest in MGP, who goes into contract negotiations with Blackburn this summer." MGP "Of course it will be exciting to write a new contract over the summer, but I'm still a Blackburn player and I like it, so the odds that I'll continue to be so, they are there." Meh, sounds like negotiation.
roversmum Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Quite likely. He refused to re-sign for Paul Ince if I remember, but since asked for a new contract.
Ewood and I Would Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Article Translation A top European club will tempt Morten Gamst Pedersen away from Blackburn. The national team player does not hide that he will consider leaving the English Premier League club. TV 2 know that a top European club is showing strong interest in the former Tromso player. It should also be the reason which Pedersen will think about. “This is a controversial issue”, said Morten Gamst Pedersen to TV 2 Sport on Friday afternoon. He will be in contract talks with Blackburn in the summer. But now there is competition for the national player. He can become the first Norwegian to take advantage of the so-called Webster ruling, which provides an opening for a player can buy out of contract with their employer. Pedersen would have to buy out his annual salary - around £2 million. “If you want, so you can make it. No one can deny you”, he emphasizes. I'm going to sort out a contract in the summer. But I'm still playing in Blackburn and enjoy it. The odds that I will be there, is true, added Pedersen.

Silencio Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Any news on this today people? As far as Roberts/Benni is concerned. Roberts is a bigger version of Dickov. Cant be relied upon to score but will frustrate and hassle opponents. Benni just sticks it in the net. Which one of those traits is more valuable......? Benni should be the last striker we try to sell. Anyone can work hard, it's difficult to put the ball in the net and Benni does it with ease. We would have gone down without him... Oh, and I'll chip in if MGP wants to buy his contract out...
budha Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 If that quoted 2,3M€ is correct, the Norwegian is on £40k/wk. Quite a lot for what he's been showing lately.. and has anyone ever agreed on dropping their salary without relegation?

Amo Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Benni managed 10 goals this season, despite his fitness problems. If Sam can whip him into shape this summer, then that tally could possibly double.
67splitscreen Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 This one: Do keep up Why thank you, I'm trying, the zimmer needs a service.
BRFC1995 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 You obviously like research so how does all that look if you take away the penalties? 4 of his 10 league goals last season wher pens(40%) 5 of his 8 the previous season where pens(62%) only 3 of his 18 in the first season where pens(16%) and to answer the question of what does it matter a pen is still a goal, well if roberts, santa or bentley had been taking them their stats would make them absolute world beaters and we'd have wanted more for bentley if he had another 5 goals on his stats or even more given the ones benni missed. The fact santa got so many without taking pens really does mean we should want 20m no less.............and if roberts had those extra goals to go with the rest of his game people would'nt be so quick to write the fella off. 9 goals from open play from a 32 year old in 2 seasons on 50k per week, please enlighten me as to why we should'nt look to drastically improve on the lazy get. Or 4.5 goals per season which sounds terrible!
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 We are keeping an eye on the Radoslav Kovac situation...

I agree totally about McCarthy, Roberts to me isnt good enough but a handy squad player. McCarthy and Roque are a class above. MGP would be harder to replace then it looks. It would be a loss if he went. He's no world beater but he's the sort of player that we know can produce, is relatively injury free and works hard. Not many of those traits can be applied to other members of the squad.

Or 4.5 goals per season which sounds terrible! I doubt he's on as much as 50k, although I suppose it is possible. Now break down his goals per minute on the pitch and compare that with our other strikers. Even if you take away his penalties he'd be ahead of Roberts and Santa Cruz.
alexanders Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 We are keeping an eye on the Radoslav Kovac situation... Radoslav Kovac could return to England However, it is unlikely to be with the Hammers, who are reported as feeling that Spartak are demanding too high a price for the versatile player's services. Any clue what the price is? Season analysis Radoslav Kovac Grella sounds like a better player than Kovac.
Kettledrum Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 4 of his 10 league goals last season wher pens(40%) 5 of his 8 the previous season where pens(62%) only 3 of his 18 in the first season where pens(16%) and to answer the question of what does it matter a pen is still a goal, well if roberts, santa or bentley had been taking them their stats would make them absolute world beaters and we'd have wanted more for bentley if he had another 5 goals on his stats or even more given the ones benni missed. Or 4.5 goals per season which sounds terrible! Don't underestimate the importance of being able to score penalties. Older fans like me can remember times when we were in the old first and second divisions and the whole of Ewood would groan when we were awarded a penalty - because we had such a poor record of scoring from them. It was miss after miss after miss. Benni can put them away and that's a real plus point.
Backroom Tom Posted June 6, 2009 Backroom Posted June 6, 2009 not being funny, but what does mgp actually produce?aah yes the long throw. And many dangerous balls into the box, and superb cover for the left back, he also wins a lot in the air. But no its easier to criticise.
