EwoodGlory Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 PARTICK THISTLE are on the verge of signing a hotshot striker from Burnley by the name of Fletcher. But it's not Scotland international Steven who is set to move north - rather his 18-year-old namesake Wes. Have something to do with this Nicko?

nicko Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 Nicko have you got us any good news for later? Yes, it's the weekend. And Daf isn't the replacement for Bentley...
jamiebrfc Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Yes, it's the weekend. And Daf isn't the replacement for Bentley... And the weather forecast for next week is good... And Paul Gallagher isn't the replacement for RSC
Fife Rover Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I would have to say that he is not exactly breaking down the door to get away. I wonder if Kevin Davies's name came up now - for the first time - whether there would be the same hysterical reaction against him. Or people would slowly realise that he ticker more boxes than anyone else. Just after reading the Zigic item and before I read this from Nicko I was thinking that maybe it was time for a re-think on the Kevin Davies situation. Not that I am any more enthusiastic about him than I was before, but merely the fact that as the weeks have gone by, and one by one our various options and interests have been eliminated, it now seems that maybe KD is the best option still open to us. Given Sam's style of playing (like it or not) we do need a target man to play back to goal and to hold the ball up until another finisher gets into space and scores. Or alternatively the target man should also be capable of scoring a few himself. He also needs to be PL capable from day one, and we have to admit now that KD meets these requirements, and is probably the best available in the circumstances. Whether we can persuade him to come to us, or whether Bolton will let him go is an entirely different and difficult question.
alexanders Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Completely disagree. Kevin Davies is not the answer

Parsonblue Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 it's a old rovers ploy.lardarse mentioned as manager fans go mad spit the dog mentioned as a signing the fans go mad, davies mentioned the fans go mad guess what two out off three are here and the 3rd is on his way Let's hope you're right Waggy. Sam and El-Hadji have done well since they arrived and I believe that Davies could do a decent job leading the line.

Steve Moss Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I'm starting to think we'd be better off with McCarthy, Roberts, Di Santo and Gallagher - and a really improved midfield. I tend to agree with you. Especially as that is exactly the forwards we had last half of the season, with the addition of Di Santo and Gallagher. And we performed well enough in that period.
nicko Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 OK then, game on... The manager is watching one of his main targets this weekend. May not even be at Leeds tomorrow...it's THAT hot.
Steve Moss Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Nicko, do you know if Claudio Pizarro is being looked at? According to wikipedia, he is on $5.1 million a year wages until June 2011. Of course he has been loaned to Weder Bremen and we might be able to outbid them.
mellison24 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 OK then, game on... The manager is watching one of his main targets this weekend. May not even be at Leeds tomorrow...it's THAT hot. One of his main targets.....wait.....I dont believe Bolton are playing....or is 'HOT' a reference to actual temperature elsewhere?
Pinch Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Anyone else get the feeling - Di Santo will stay at Chelsea and they will offer Pizzaro instead I think Chelsea will get rid of Pizarro, but I don't think that will affect our Di Santo loan. They still have Sturridge, Drogba, Kalou, Malouda, Anelka...and Shevchenko.
Exiled_Rover Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 There's so many teams playing tomorrow it would almost be pointless to speculate who he could be looking at.
DeadlyDirk Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 There's so many teams playing tomorrow it would almost be pointless to speculate who he could be looking at. You obviously don't know this board very well, pointless guessing is everyone's favourite hobby! Let's be honest though, were more than likely having another look at Luca Toni.
nicko Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 One of his main targets.....wait.....I dont believe Bolton are playing....or is 'HOT' a reference to actual temperature elsewhere? Funnily enough they are... But the 'hot' line referred to the fact that the chase seems to be afoot. I suspect it is a striker he wants to see - after reports from his scouts. I have a hunch but I will want to be sure he is at the game first. Anyway, it's brightened up a slow afternoon.
bob fleming Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 The manager is watching one of his main targets this weekend. May not even be at Leeds tomorrow...it's THAT hot. What's wrong with the man? That's about right for the time of year surely? Just wear a T-Shirt Sam.
spencey7 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I have a hunch but I will want to be sure he is at the game first. Is it one of the aforementioned huddies...?
