Still, that doesn't stop our old pal Alan Nixon writing in The Daily Mirror: 'Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce is making a shock £1.5 million swoop for Tottenham's unhappy Pascal Chimbonda.' Arse of a manager moves for arse of a player for arse of a football club. Shocking. It's just his opinion Nicko. I think your description of him in your 1st line is spot-on.

mark Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Koumas has made a good start now he's actually gettin selected... just the position we need and just the sort of player Sam could bring the best out of. Wonder what he'd cost..
bellamy11 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 So this young lad had been playing well had he RVR? Doubt it. You know absolutely nothing about him Den, so I can't see how you're in a position to judge him.

mark Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 QUOTE (RibbleValleyRover @ Aug 26 2009, 11:52 ) Roy Keane's player judging is quite questionable, look at the donkey's he bought at Sunderland for ridiculous prices. Chimboda and Diouf
Billy Castell Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I'd have a look at Garvan. Supposed to be good, and would be at a reasonable price I should imagine. I think one of three things is happening to Keane right now: 1. He's drunk or on drugs. 2. He's finally gone completely mad, and has to be looked after. 3. He's been found out. It seems he is making a load of knee-jerk decisions, and has really lost his way in Suffolk.

Wonder what he'd cost.. Twice as much as a month ago, no one wants to lose players a week before the window shuts, not if they are in their plans anyway. Some over the last few weeks have mentioned Huth, now IMO that would have been a good signing, as long as he can do Pendal in under 10 minutes.

ffan Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 And he got a good young keeper to quit his £5k a week job to be a chef!!! and GAA player but that story ain't for this thread.
den Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 You know absolutely nothing about him Den, so I can't see how you're in a position to judge him. No. Nor does anyone else on here Bellars. How it can be suggested that someone being sold by Ipswich can make it in the Prem begs explanation.
paulyrover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Why has Sam got to buy two defenders? Chimbonda would be a decent enough signing on his own. If we got him we would have the following in defence- Jacobsen, Emerton, Salgado, Chimbonda, Givet, Nelsen, Samba, Olsson, Zurab. That would be good enough and large enough for the premiership and if Nelsen's injury turns out to be really bad then we could just get a loan signing in January. If we did this we could buy a midfielder such as Ledley, Nolan, Kranjar etc. We've got more injury worrys in midfield than defence but he seems more focused on strenghening at the back. Sorry if someone has already said this.

American Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I'm guessing with this happening so quickly that Rothen might be one of them. edit- or then again, one of them could be a left back. Don't have a clue really [no quips please]. You know absolutely nothing about him Den, so I can't see how you're in a position to judge him. Not making a quip, just placing 2 interesting posts next to each other.....
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 No. Nor does anyone else on here Bellars. How it can be suggested that someone being sold by Ipswich can make it in the Prem begs explanation. Its a gamble of course, any signing is. He has been touted as a real prospect and has played a decent amount of games since he made his debut. Roy Keane is the last person i would ask to judge a player after some of his shambolic signings at Sunderland. Rumours are that he has to sell players if he wants to bring some more of his own players in, and he has had bust ups with his captain Gareth McAuley (wants to sell him), Garvan and Jon Stead. Bust-ups seem to be a regular theme with Roy Keane he had them with players at Sunderland. He is young, 6 foot plays a box to box type of role in midfield and will be pretty cheap. Looking at some of the Ipswich forums they reckon whoever buys him is getting a bargain and they don't want to see him go. I personally think its worth the risk in taking a look.

Sorry if someone has already said this. "If we got him we would have the following in defence- Jacobsen, Emerton, Salgado, Chimbonda, Givet, Nelsen, Samba, Olsson, Zurab." Simple losing Nelson and Warnock has in effect left a gaping hole in three positions, CB/LB/LM Emerton??? fitness, Olsson Jacobsen and Kishi ???? are they good enough kishi in particular has been very shaky since the start of pre-season, waiting until January could cost us badly and put is in the same position as last season when Sam joined, something I imagine he is trying to avoid. Shore up the defence, see who makes it to January and re-access, though I do agree a playmaker is needed ASAP.
herbergeehh Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Its stroke boy Nicko. He doesnt like it if you steal his thunder. Not sure I want an explanation.. but... Stroke boy? It's the guy on SSN covering the transfers?
Billy Castell Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Its stroke boy Nicko. He doesnt like it if you steal his thunder. What's stroke boy's real name again? He must be feeling a bit of a twinge down one side as things seem to be warming up in the transfer market.
garyh123 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Chimbonda split sunderland fans due to reports about his attitude and off field stuff. However, he didn't settle in the north east & a lot of players seemed to have that problem under Keane so i wouldn't read too much into that! As you can see from Ipswich, Keane obviously has problems. Playing wise, he has loads of ability, and a lot of fans weren't happy when we let him go. Potentially a very good player for you, wish we still had him here.
Hughesy Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Rovers are expecting two arrivals today... Getting a bit worried about a meeting between Portsmouth and Spurs last night re that possible Chimbonda-James swap. Find out more later. No PMs or questions please...trying to find out answers.
