Amo Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Everyone new it was never going to be overflowing, how can that be meltdown. There's a difference between a king's ransom and a bag of moths. Anyway, I'm just speculating. Either way, I'm glad Nicko gave his two cents because this place needs some close-season excitement.

67splitscreen Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 There's a difference between a king's ransom and a bag of moths. Anyway, I'm just speculating. Either way, I'm glad Nicko gave his two cents because this place needs some close-season excitement. No need for any cardiovascular exercise this weekend then. Could be City related, 14 players to go, doubt they are in meltdown though, unless the owners are really pigged off with the failure to supply the goods.
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Well if Nicko talks of a 'Meltdown' and it turns out to be Rovers related, it's not going to be something that benefits the club. Probably one our best players being strongly linked to a move (Samba, Jones, Nzonzi?) or maybe Sam is on his way to West Ham.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 best players? what, Dunn/Samba? One who recently tied down a new contract and the other is somebody we could replace. We dont actually have any outstanding players at the moment so it dont think that it'd be that. Sam moving on?? Why would he? who above us would want him? West Ham isnt particularly more attractive then us. Im thinking/hoping that this isnt Rovers related because i cant think of any event which could seriously constitute a meltdown at our club.
Sysagent Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Mmm I have a sneaky suspicion that Sam might be calling it a day for health reasons, this isn't an informed opinion just a gut feeling / hunch... If this is the case God knows who we will get to replace him and carry on the good progress we are making at the club and if this is the case it would be very badly timed in view of it being Season Ticket renewal / take up time (or well timed if you are Waggy et al)

Sam has already danced with one of the 'great pretenders' with boardroom politics and an insatiable fanbase. I can't see him wanting to go there of all places. His job at Rovers isn't always ideal, but at least we keep our house in order.
Iceman Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 With talk of a possible takeover again, perhaps JW leaving? Now that would cause a meltdown. Paul Ince returning as chief scout? The trust selling the club to Mike Ashley or Takshin Shiniwatra? Andrews to be made captain?
Bobby G Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Meltdown is a bad thing, so why are we trying to put a positive spin onto the situation?
Silencio Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Meltdown wouldn't be one of our players leaving, it's usually something more dramatic. Is Allardyce going? Some of the morons may think that's a good thing but if he goes now we are in big trouble... Meltdown tends to refer to a dispute within a club usually. I wonder if the board have withdrawn funds like they did last year and there has been a bust-up?
rovers1995 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Don't think its sopmething to do with Allardyce leaving as he has said as recent as two days ago that he loves it here and isn't considering leaving. Think its something really bad witht he finances. Come on Nicko, put us out of our misery, is it good/bad
imy9 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I think that the Trustees have decided not to invest another penny into Rovers and we have ZERO funds this summer, or we have to sell Samba to balance the books with no in transfers.
vintageadidas Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 i hear we are after two real madrid superstars and there is a very good chance they will join.

I wonder if the board have withdrawn funds like they did last year and there has been a bust-up? Reading Sam's own statements in recent days: !) He's not retiring due to ill-health or for any other reason. In his own words he's "addicted to football" 2) Everything he's said about the club since last weekend has read very positively. He's absolutely delighted with the progress of the young players he's signed or brought forward. I think Nicko will be laughing in his scotch at the panic he's causing! He's deliberately not mentioned the club that's in supposed meltdown and buggered off letting us think it could be Rovers-related! How about Torres and or Gerrard leaving Liverpool? That would be melt-down for them.
andyroversmad Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 It's got to be something like the money we had for transfers has been taken away and we got to sell more players. I was having a good day untill I see nicko's meltdown headline.
Balwer Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Nicko can you please answer these three questions with a yes/no answer? 1. Is this Rovers related? 2. Does this tie in to the potential buyers you spoke of in the takeover thread at all? 3. Would you consider the news positive from our perspective?
LeChuck Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I have to say, from Nicko's wording, it didn't sound like it was about us... ...or maybe I'm just being hopeful.
Amo Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I've got it! Nicko's post was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Just look at the responses (myself included).
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Pedersen signing a new deal? Would generate some anger...
rovers_rob Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Sam has said in a number of interviews that we do not need to sell any players so I can't see it being that. Big Sam To West Ham ? I can just imagine the west ham fans welcoming big sam with open arms !! No chance. Hopefully it will be something about the striker we are going to sign...maybe Salgado has convinced Raul to sign for us ?

I can just imagine the west ham fans welcoming big sam with open arms !! No chance. Haven't Wham got a reputation for one touch football? They'd welcome Sam with open arms asn that's exactly what he plays. It's just a very solid and powerful touch...
tashor Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Manure are on the brink of administration .....................
bigbrandjohn Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Maybe the People is being merged with the Guardian to become the Guardian of the People. or maybe Sam is going to West Ham and Brian Laws is coming here as a Trojan horse.
