duffbear Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Would Dunny get a testimonal or does it need to be 10 years in a row? I believe his 10 years in total will be at the end of next season? I really hope he does get one as he only left over a spat with souness.

Backroom Tom Posted November 10, 2010 Backroom Posted November 10, 2010 Dont know about a testimonial but I think time to retire is fast approaching.
Aberdeen Blue Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I think the idea of Testimonials in this day and age is outdated. In days gone by it was a way to reward a player for loyal service to their club and to help set them up for their future career (shop / pub etc commonly) when they still had to find a job outside football. These days they will have earned more than enough to live comfortably for the rest of their days. It is nice for the fans to be able to pay tribute for a long serving player but any cash raised should go to local charities as was the case with Nial Quinn or, more recently, Jamie Carragher.

I agree with what you are saying but do we know what the official rules are for getting a testimonial or is it just up to the club. I think Dunny and the fans deserve to see a testimonial and agree what you said about him probably not needing the money but know a lot of players donate the money to chartiy or a portion of it and everyone's a winner.
thenodrog Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Talented and very rich lad, but if he has a testimonial then he'll prob pull a hamstring or similar and not play. Alternatively if he manages to stay fit then I'll definitely pull a hamstring and not go. ** Just as a rider to that if Tugay makes an appearence then I'll change my mind about going.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Team who played with Dunn 1st time round vs team who played with Dunn second time round? Jansen, Friedel, Tugay, Flitty vs Mort, Niko, Robbo and Chris? Hmmm.
Ozz Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I'd be up for it, so long as we played Burnley at home.
duffbear Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 I'd be up for it, so long as we played Burnley at home. I went to the Simon Garner and Tony Parkes testimonials and both were really enjoyable games and experince
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 10, 2010 Moderation Lead Posted November 10, 2010 Has to happen in my eyes!
Jackson Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Given his injuries and service record, I've estimated he'll be elligible for a 10 year testimonial in 2086. Vince's will be sometime during 2200AD.
Gav Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Dont know about a testimonial but I think time to retire is fast approaching.

BuckyRover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Dont know about a testimonial but I think time to retire is fast approaching. I know he has been awful but wasn't he our top scorer last season? I wouldn't completely write him off yet
Backroom Tom Posted November 10, 2010 Backroom Posted November 10, 2010 Let's hope not, he obviously has talent but looks unfit and overweight and always just a sprint away from an injury. If I was a betting man I'd bet on him missing most of the Christmas period. He seems to be injured almost every year around this time.
ABBEY Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 can i have one? ive been with my company for 24 years !!!

Backroom Tom Posted November 10, 2010 Backroom Posted November 10, 2010 can i have one? ive been with my company for 24 years !!! No but if you stay another 16 you can have a clock
GiddyGoat Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 No but if you stay another 16 you can have a clock During the height of the tech bubble, late '90's, I got a service award for staying with a company for 1 year. Mental.
koi Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 If he does have one I hope it's for charity. The days of raising a few quid for a player to put down a deposit on a pub are long gone.
BB9 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Dunny is a legend and fully deserves a testimonial... providing all proceeds go to a local charity
