Torgeir Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Why is Derbyshire's name even being mentioned? We either need to bring in youth (Rochina) or someone to slot right into our starting XI. If a player isn't able to replace a strikeforce where none are likely to hit the 10 goal mark in the PL, then he's not worth discussing imo. Nicko, what's Adam's stance so far? He might burn some more bridges at Blackpool if he goes public wanting to move - not that anyone could blame him after the way they treated him with regards to the bonuses he never received.

Rover & Out Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I'd expect we're simply tying Blackman down to a contract because there is likely to be future interest in him. Hopefully we'll get anything up to £1m for him if he has another successful loan somewhere.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 So, as I predicted, we talked a lot about signing Ronaldinho and other marquee signings, then talked about proven Premier League players like Duff, Santa Cruz and Adam, but in the end we are just getting some kid from Barcelona, who has never played at the top level in his life. I can see a clear and established pattern here. Please listen to some of our managers interviews - he has always spoken of a need to get in "development" players (as he described them). As well as more established players - not too bothered which order they come in as long as we do get some much needed help for out injury hit first team squad.
MarkBRFC71 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 So lets get it from you. You actually want Maradona as our manager? I've never referred to Mutu in any post by the way. Not particularly, but if it happens, it happens. I'd have reservations but I'd be prepared to give him a chance at least. Would be a daft move IMO purely because Kean deserves until the end of the season to prove himself, but then Venky's have shown so far that they are quite impulsive so it's not implausible. I've decided that the best option regarding the whole takeover and the actions and annoucements from Venky's is to just go with the flow for now. We're sat in 9th, playing some good football, and actually appear to have some money to spend. Not accusing you of it, but there's no point in being a drama queen, having hissy fits or comparing now to when Allardyce/The Trust were here.

Ferrit Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 The very fact the article for Adam mentions £8 million as the price pretty much tells me everything I need to know about that story.
Hughesy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Derbyshire is sh!te and championship standard….hence why he scores against championship teams. He has done nothing at Birmingham either. He’s at best a last 15 minute impact player, but an average one at that. Lets not go on about him again eh….just because hes local, doesn’t matter – he’s not good enough – ESPECIALLY if you want us to progress. Really don’t understand the bias that local lads earn – your either good enough or your not. He’s not. Benjani & Roberts are both better…Derbs would NEVER had scored Benjani’s 1st goal against Liverpool. Blackman – good to tie him to a contract, he will now go back out on loan….SPL is a big difference from the prem – something which he is not ready for.

Valois Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Cant believe people are taking a report from caughtoffside.com as gospel, tribal football is probably a more reliable source. Rochina fits into what Steve Kean said was the long term plan, bring in good young players, develop them. Again that would support why Blackman has been given a new contract, has done well in the SPL in a pretty average team, and they obviously see enough in him to tie him down. People please stop going on about Jamie O'Hara, my mate who is a Spurs season ticket holder has told me he has a long term injury, but nobody really knows to much about it, a bit similar to the N'Zonzi situation here. Despite that his girlfriend Danielle Lloyd has just had a baby, they wouldnt want to leave London. In regards to Adam, looks like Villa have possibly given up, maybe now will be the time for us to put in a bid, test Blackpool's resolve, from what we are lead to believe he would be keen on Rovers, wecan hope he kicks up a fuss if they did reject our bid. Top news of the day, David Beckham bangs his foot?? Front page news tomorrow no doubt? I think Alan Hansen was spot on last night, its a distraction they could do without, really hope their season goes belly up.
cruz Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Rather harsh on Derbyshire when 'he didn't cut the mustard' would have sufficed...........like Gallagehr, another local lad that hung around for what seemed like an age.

I can see a clear and established pattern here. We all know what transfer windows are like, all the clubs wait for one another to make a move and it's often left so late that there's not enough time to do the deal anyway. We just need to hold tight and see what happens, hopefully a few transfers will kick things off. Otherwise, it could be another interesting transfer deadline day!
Valois Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Michael Johnson could be available on loan, surely he would be a better option than getting RSC on loan.
Miker Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 News to me that the January transfer window closes on the 12th January these days I love how everyone just completely missed the point of my post. I won't clarify, maybe you guys can work it out on your own.
Roverite28 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Michael Johnson could be available on loan, surely he would be a better option than getting RSC on loan. He is that fat these days i doubt he could ram himself through the door.
Parsonblue Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Blackman – good to tie him to a contract, he will now go back out on loan….SPL is a big difference from the prem – something which he is not ready for. I'm at a total loss as to why we should have given Blackman a longish contract. As someone who watches the majority of the Reserve matches, I can honestly say that Blackman has never struck me as anything other than a decent League One or League Two player. If we have signed him to get a fee, I'm not quite sure who is going to pay it. He has been a hit in Scotland but is there any money in Scottish football? He made little impression at Oldham last season and is unproven at Championship level. Even if a League One or Two club could afford a fee, could they afford to match the wages he is on at Ewood Park? Clearly, Steve Kean believes he can improve him, but if he doesn't he'll be hanging around like Maceo Rigters, picking up wages without making a contribution to the first team.
Valois Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I love how everyone just completely missed the point of my post. I won't clarify, maybe you guys can work it out on your own. Read it, re-read it, and read it again. You are making it out that we are just going to end up with Rochina, its pretty clear for us all to read. The fact is your talking as if the window is closing tomorrow, when we are not even halfway through. We have several tragets, it looks like Rochina could be the first of those to arrive.
Jim Royle Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Derbs would NEVER had scored Benjani's 1st goal against Liverpool. Neither, I thought, would Benjani - sh1t happens, sometimes its good sh1t The only striker we have that is worth keeping long term is Niko, so that is three other strikers that we should be looking for. Debs is a good local lad trying his best and will score goals, but not in the Prem, that does not make him what you are calling him Hughesy

The lad has done NOTHING on a football pitch for the last 3 year. He’s a big time p!ss head and has ballooned in weight. Jim Royle - I agree - Although id try & keep Miram Bame diouf too

Move on. Is that a joke? The lad has done NOTHING on a football pitch for the last 3 year. He’s a big time p!ss head and has ballooned in weight. Jim Royle - I agree - Although id try & keep Miram Bame diouf too Pretty much the same as RSC then. From what I here from a couple of Leeds lads he is looking fit again, and has sorted him self out.
BangkokRover Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 No reason we could not get him on loan or trial. If he is crap we just send him back
Gav Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 He’s a big time p!ss head and has ballooned in weight You leave SteB out of this
