Kelbo Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Just on that point, only a bitter Sam Allardyce and he media cronies have ever alluded to that, the same media cronies that stated, and then retracted, Kean was being sacked in London after the Fulham game.I don't buy into that at all. 'END OF DISCUSSION' for the second time ] Now I can tell you you are definately wrong on that score Gav, there really are top football managers and coaches who not only alluded to that but have stated as a fact almost!! (referring to the Kean appointment at Rovers)

(referring to the Kean appointment at Rovers) The part that has shocked me about it all is how many ex Sam players/staff there are out there in NW football. Most, no all I have met are of the opinion that you are correct. Regardless of what truly went on, the fact that the No.3 leap frogged everyone to become top dog, will always look bad and will stick with him as football has a long memory.

(referring to the Kean appointment at Rovers) Old boys network maybe Kelbo? It could only be a cloak and dagger move by Kean, why? because why else would they sack Allardyce? I don't buy it, I really don't, but food for thought Kelbo for sure, maybe one day it'll come out, and I'll be muching the humble pie.

I purely think that Venkys couldn't connect to Sam who can be a little glass half full. Kean however is a full glass even when its empty and Venkys liked this. It's simply a case to me that new owners have new ideas and want a new manager. Kean was just third in command and when he had to cover Sam's role his positivity and faith in himself convinced a naive Venkys to give him a chance.
greco Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Let it go greco. Got to say, Gav's 'END OF DISCUSSION' comment made me chuckle, he's a right pantomime dame these days. never heard the word pantomime before, so i googled it and that should have come with a warning matt ;-) judging by the pamtomimes recent post, i certainly hit a nerve and that tells me, that i was right all along. Actually i was only having a bit of fun, perhaps not fun for others, but it was to me. I really enjoyed schooling him and making him so desperate, that he needed the ignore button. regarding steve kean and the debate, i can undertsand those who feel tired about the discussion, as its been going on really long and everything has been said atleast twice. Althoug i symphatize with those, they also need to accept, that as new fixtures approaches and are played, new mistakes/good decisions are made and are therefore going to get mentioned. As long as kean is manager of our team, its NATURAL to discuss his decisions and thats whether we win, lose or draw.

OscarRaven Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Steve Kean's record is appalling and he should be sacked. One scrappy win against a SHOCKINGLY BAD wanderer’s side doesn’t really change that. The team were all at sea many times during that game, there is a fundamental lack of organisation and discipline in the side and that’s the manager’s responsibility. Venky's are backing themselves into a corner all very unnecessarily in my view. There must be some brains behind that chicken operation somewhere... because the three people I've seen are quite frankly... [best not]… err gullible. So three self confessed no nowt's decide to try and run the club in a hands on way.... instead of sharing their vision with (one of the most talented and respected football people in) John Williams and asking him to implement it. Absolutely crazy. I wonder if next time they get on a plane they will decide that they can do a better job than the pilot, after all they do own the plane and Bobo stays up late playing Flight Simulator X (in between Football Manager of course). Steve Kean out NOW! Venky’s – Sit down and shut up.
BangkokRover Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Extrapolated through 38 matches the projected points total for a season (and a max points haul of 114) would see us currently on 28. But don't despair cos Kean's version of hoofball has been really great and very entertaining...... to some. To put that in to context the Dingles got 30 points on their season in the Premiership. Cheers BKR
John Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Come on, John. You're better than this. Says the man who continously felt the need to criticise our former manager and also our brand of play which should have been easier on the eye with all our flair/quality attacking players - our form over the past few months and results should, perhaps, bring along with it a time for reflection for some....

I don't think a single poster on this board (bar nicko) would have replaced Sam with a manager with zero experience. Your point is moot.
John Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I don't think a single poster on this board (bar nicko) would have replaced Sam with a manager with zero experience. Your point is moot. In your opinion Bucky, which says it all really.

I remember writing a full and frank email to Brian Reade of The Mirror, for slagging off our last manager and his style of football. I could show it to you if you want? But please, continue.

I know you've probably discussed this many times over Bucky and sorry if I have missed it, but who were your preferences for the managers job in December?
Gav Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I know you've probably discussed this many times over Bucky and sorry if I have missed it, but who were your preferences for the managers job in December? I didn't have a clue personally, hadn’t given it much thought, because I always felt he’d be given until the summer at least.
Jimmy612 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I didn't have a clue personally, hadn’t given it much thought, because I always felt he’d be given until the summer at least. But you were delighted when he went Gav, you said 'it couldn't have come at a better time.' Surely you must have had a few ideas during the uncertain time before the Kean appointment.

Regardless, I was looking at Martin Jol or Martin O’Neill when it happened, didn't think we'd ever appoint Kean
