English is my strongest subject Drog- I teach it.

Your last line is incorrect, I'm assuming you have never had someone shout just 'Paki' at you have you? There is no accompanying insulting adjective, just 'paki'

Just one example Drog:

Ignore him. He's being deliberately obtuse to defend his own bigotry.

Right, the only person who has said there was racist chanting is well known Troll zaccius.

Paul, Cluuuurr and others have said they heard no such thing.

I was there and heard nothing racist. Obviously there were songs regarding both Kean and Venkys. Didn't hear anyone singing about pakis though

Why should a polite request be met with base vulgarity?

Where's the vulgarity? You made a request of me and I one of you, it's apity you can't just focus on that.

The point was and still is all this I'm right your wrong innit cock contest crap has split the fans at a time where that will only exsaperate our current plight.

All this pro-sam & anti-sam grouping of our fanbase is doing is killing us, if you can't see that then fine.

You know what Maj- I agree, I am now no longer going to mention Sam Allardyce again, we need to be united in the battle to survive the drop.

So you aren't going to discuss our previous successful manager, even though since his sacking we have nosedived from mid table to 16th in the league, on the clubs worst run of form in 25 years.

It seems quite obvious that Sam was going to be a topic of discussion following the illogical decision to sack him, and our plummet towards the championship which then ensued.

Your last line is incorrect, I'm assuming you have never had someone shout just 'Paki' at you have you? There is no accompanying insulting adjective, just 'paki' I'm from Pakistan Drog and up until 15 years ago the term was only used to insult, now much like the 'n' word it has been "reclaimed."

Don't be so bloody precious. You should never be ashamed of your heritage. I'm a Brit and I don't care who calls me such, I'm proud to be too even though the word has been maliciously spat at our nation at some time or other from every corner of the globe. Sticks and stones imy.

btw From your link "....and the Ramadhan Foundation called the prince a "thug"." Thats rather confusing. You lot made up the word so exactly how was it meant to be interpreted?

Ignore him. He's being deliberately obtuse to defend his own bigotry.

Butt out and don't try to sidetrack this thread Topman. Just you carry on telling us how great Venkeys and Kean have been for BRFC.

Thanks Imy9, we have to move on and support the lads at the games. Who knows maybe a strong 12th man can boost the lads to get the 1 win and a draw we will need to survive.

He's banned again.

He's one of a number of people who picked up 12hr posting bans to cool off a little. We have no issue with people being critical of the club/Venkys/Kean/Dunny/AndrewsRoar/Gordon/The Dali Lama we're just trying to take a little of the edge off the rantyest and swearest of them. We understand people are annoyed (we are too), but don't want this to turn in a mess of nonsensical bile, so a few hours to calm do and compose themselves seemed the best option.

You've just admitted to being racist and THAT'S the best retort you've got?

Oh my.

1. I'm not. Am proud of it.

2. Good for you but the word 'Brit' is not racist is it?

3. "You lot" who would that be Drog? My ancestors are from Pakistan (and before that India) so am Pakistani but am also British and proud of it, thus making me a British Pakistani or British Asian, is this too difficult to understand as I'm from a different "lot."

4. Ironic you are telling people to butt out in one post and then claiming someone is vulgar in another to a "polite request"

5. I used the BBC article to highlight the BBC's stance which is that the word IS a racist term, what a bloke from an organisation thinks of the Prince is his opinion.

We know this already, my focus from now on is the present and trying to ensure that Blackburn Rovers FC continues its proud heritage in the top flight.

EDIT: Sorry Glenn will stop now!

Oh and Gordon and Imy, whilst you're both actually both trying to discuss a tough subject without resorting to insults (for which I thank you), can I remind you that this is the Everton vs Rovers thread and not the place for discussing the finer points of the English language and the issue that some words are (rightly or wrongly) viewed as offensive (often by proxy) regardless of their origins or intended usage (ICBINF is the place for that kinda thing).

Good idea but are the people informed that its only for 12 hours Glenn?

btw SteB once banned me for a full close season for my comments on the causes of the Big Fire in Blackburn! I'm sure you remember it. It was the site of the old Kenyons bakery........ you can't miss it it's right where that bloody great mosque is now. ;)

Could we have a ban on any messages containing Sam, BFS, Allardyce etc. please ?

Anyone and everyone knows it was a mistake of grotesque proportions to replace an experienced manager with someone who had never managed before, but people constantly harping on about what our ex-manager did or would do just aren't helping the situation.

I believe the length of the ban is mentioned in the email the system now generates (and I know Abs' knows, 'cos I've been talking to him about it on facebook).

Anyway, now you've got ME dragging this off topic ;)

Oh my.

No I haven't. Link please. All I can see is a small man with a big keyboard calling me a bigot.

No probs but the debate was started by reports of the chants at the match so although some people want to take things too far as usual to chuck in the racist card it was kinda relevent.

You argued that the term 'Paki' isn't a racial slur.

What more do you need?

I need to hear your argument explaining why that one word is. However this thread is not the place.

I was at Goodison not far from the singing group. I heard no mention of Venky's being Pakis. I did hear "Venky's out" " we want our Rovers back" "I wanna go home, Steve Kean is a ######" All this from a group of perhaps 50 teenagers who believe they are the core of the singing away support. I also saw men in their 50s being extremely aggressive towards stewards who where simply doing their job. These people should know better

It was more than a group of 50 singing the 'Kean' song.

Everyone near me was singing it.

Good question.

I expect no answer from Theno, usually get that response when you challenge kids, will PM though.

I am glad that it looks like the comment was not racial, we have enough problems without this compounding it.

You really are unbelievably arrogant.

People from Pakistan find it hugely offensive. that's all you need to know. It doesn't need justifiying to you - what gives you the right to pass judgement on the reason why?

A bit of advice Imy, you can't teach old dogs new tricks.

Our resident klu klux klan member isn't going to change, give up pal, put him the 'pay no mind list' best place for him

You got one... and before I'd read this too! I hope it's to your liking but I don't really care if it's not. It is honest though.

Anyway imy....'kids' who on earth do you think you are trying your best to belittle me in the above way? You wouldn't dare say that to my face so don't say it on here.

Corrected for you. I'm sure you'll feel much more comfortable with it now.

Oh dear I see this thread has fallen down the mineshaft like so many others. Ding ding, round 3,008,282 for the endless bout between the ginger golfing midget vs. the wall bang gang.
