Don't want to trawl back - is Edu the midfielder Nicko said we were after who he classes as a "good, good player"?

I haven't seen him play so I can't comment. He doesn't seem to have played much for Rangers over the last three years though.

I think Edu is the guy Nicko said if you thought was good, you're watching the wrong sport.

I remember Adu. I used to go onto US site called Bigsoccer.com years ago, and the many Americans on that site used to rave about him being the next superstar up there with Pele etc. He's turned about to be another Sonny Pike. What wentwrong with Adu?

He set up a great goal on wednesday for the yanks, first time he's played for us in ages. but he's still only 20 or 21 or something, he'll come good. NOT GREAT but good.

Also i really don't see the point of this guessing and clue giving about Nicko's MF.

Anyway, back on topic. Ido wonder who this good midfielder is or theguy who has been signed for months.

I think the Adu you're on about is Freddie Adu. The terminal 'next great thing' Americans have been waiting on since 2000. Maurice is a Brother that without much fanfare has achieved as much as the diminutive freddie (5 foot nothing, IIRC).

without sounding like i am moaning, i dont even believe there is anything concrete linking us with edu or adu. Nicko aint even said we are after any of them....

don't they have their own threads? instead of taking up 10 pages of this one

If we sign Cissé it would be a statement! And if we can manage to get Forlan, he for me would be the marquee signing and we will get a lot of interest from South America.

Remember Forlan was awesome in the World Cup 2010 and he scored goals for fun two seasons ago.

Isn't Forlan looking for a big last chance payday and wasn't he connected to Maradona's club alalalallaali ??

Erik Lamela.

I've watched Lamela's 20+ matches this season and I can tell you this 'boy' and he's still nothing but a boy is a show pony.

Someone mentioned the proverbial bargepole regarding Diego??? I'll conjure up the same pole for Lamela. Funes Mori as well.

If you wish to shop in Argentina, I'd recommend Enzo Perez(just off to Benfica), Diego Valeri (Lanus), Burrito Martinez (Velez) as a shortlist, also Huracan's Battalgia, a 18 yr. CMF shows quite a bit of promise. At present, there's

too much dreck in Argentina, i'm afraid. Grondona has destroyed Argie footy.

If you put Forlan in wiki, it gives you a clue about his 'personal problem' for anyone interested.

Interesting!! Ooh chase me

Well he did play with Giggs allegedly.

Haha yeah who hasn't

As days drift by I'm beginning to worry that we don't have a concrete set of targets. The lack of a concrete offer for Cisse is surprising if he really is the main target. If we have the money and want the player, we've had several weeks to agree a fee. I really hope this isn't another season of empty promises.

Anyone see mr kentaro (Anderson) on SS? I did and had to explain to my son who he was without gettin mad

Teach me, oh wise one. Because I can't even look at the name "Anderson" without raging.

I would say it seems like we do have a list that the management are currently working their way down. It's not like everything is easy in business, and signing Cissé isn't as straight forward as you paint it out to be. It's normal to start talks before lodging a bid, and often to agree a fee before an official one is made.

I know why he only gives us snippets. What I meant was I don't know whether I'd be better not knowing those snippets i.e. not reading them or whether I prefer to know just the bits rather than nothing and find out when it's a done deal.

I love the snippets and the speculation. It helps to pass the close-season along.

Meanwhile the £16.5 Jones cash is making very nice interest in the owners' post office savings account.

Jim, you must be living in the past ( namely John Major government times). Interest rates are abysmally low now.

How about jimmy Ryan at Stanley, I reckon a cheeky bid of 8 million should see him ours. He's by far the best midfielder outside of the prem!!!!

Agree ! We could do worse !

I occasionally go and watch Stanley train and he's wicked in training.

I don't want players who will rock the boat.

Well, that's never happened at Rovers has it..

Agreed personal terms with Scunthorpe i believe.

Never mind in training, you should see him perform on match days! He's solid gold. It's not so long ago that Mackail-Smith was playing in Stanley's league and now I see Allardice is after him. Sometimes you should all hold your noses when poo-pooing the signing of young English players from the league basement clubs, instead of wasting millions on dubious foreigners. Anyway, Ryan is reported to be off to Scunthorpe - what a sheer waste of talent!

Anyone signing ? :o

Our first game against a Premier League club is over a month away never mid the start of the season.....could everyone just chill the hell out!!!!!!!!!!! :angry2:

Not saying its straight forward but there have been reports of our interest for about 3 months. Surely we know what the asking price is by now. You can only 'talk' so much without actually bidding.

For a change it looks like we are after pretty decent players and you still whinge because like the rest of the league we have not signed anyone.. get a grip Chelsea, ManCity and Arsenal have not signed anyone and they are some of the biggest spenders.

As it stands at least we are aiming for the right sort of targets.

You realize Jim does not care ? He is just trolling. As soon as we sign anyone he will immediately declare how awful they are for Rovers.

ie

Messi - Too small and lightweight for the Premiership

Ronaldo - has an attitude problem

etc etc
