Gav Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Bingo. Just a rumour at present but has come from someone who has been right in the past, he is not sure if it means Kean is getting sacked and Grant is his replacement or Grant is coming in to work with Kean. I am giving this more credence because the person who told me is often right and because Pini has a very good relationship with Mrs D. Also he would be cheap and thus far owners have liked cheap. They won't sack Kean today, I'm sure of that, but I'd have Grant in a heartbeat over that clown.

I'd take Avram Grant all day long. Experienced and let's be honest, there's no one better than him who'd take the job. With Kean we stand no chance of staying up, with Avram there'd be hope. Hell, I'd take Peter Reid if it meant seeing the back of that vile (human being?) that is Steve Kean.
BuckyRover Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Remember guys: anyone is better than Kean. I think I would prefer Grant to be honest. I would only be (very) annoyed if Kean retains a job in some capacity.
Lurid Coat Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Bingo. Just a rumour at present but has come from someone who has been right in the past, he is not sure if it means Kean is getting sacked and Grant is his replacement or Grant is coming in to work with Kean. Talk about a dream team - the two worst Premier League managers ever. In addition, we might get f***** financially today. Happy days. What a joke club we are.
King Kenny's Magic Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 A Burnley fan: It's funny what's happening with Rovers innit mate? The only thing that could make it better is if they teamed Kean up with someone like Avram Grant! The dingle oracle has spoken, badbad times for all roverites. Shocking.
Taggart Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 They won't sack Kean today, I'm sure of that, but I'd have Grant in a heartbeat over that clown. Snap ! we are goign down with this clown already, at leat Avram has managed at the highest level with Chelsea, and has premiership experience. He didn`t have a great time at WH but he can`t do much worse than Kean if it is him ! Kamy; I thought you were goign to say Dowie so I am relieved somewhat ! Howver, one would like to think that if they finally do get rid of Kean, they will appoint the right person, but hey, this is Venkys world after all so anythign is possible.
booth Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I hate to say this but even Avram Grant would be better. That said why go for Grant with his record of having two teams get relegated?
Jansen is God Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Talk about a dream team - the two worst Premier League managers ever. He didn't do that bad at Chelsea, I seam to remember a Champions League final, which they lost on penalties? Plus, you'd like to think that he learnt quite a bit during his time with Pompey & West Ham.
bob fleming Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 At least we wouldn’t have to suffer inane grinning on the touch line. This way we’d have someone with the facial expression to suit our league position.
Lurid Coat Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I hate to say this but even Avram Grant would be better. That said why go for Grant with his record of having two teams get relegated? He's a cheap option. Venky's only go for cheap options. We can look forward to Yakubu playing in central defence and Jason Lowe being utilized as target man if Grant comes in. He's notorious for using players in any other position than their natural position. He's a really crap manager as well.
OJRovers Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Barclays at the Board meeting? There goes the transfer fund for January, and Hoilett. Grant is a far better option than Kean.
koi Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Re my comment on Barclays, they are undoubtedly going to be giving bad news- no bank asks to go to a board meeting in the circumstances Rovers find themselves in just for the sherry and mince pies. The question is how bad will it get for Rovers and Venky's and the answer will be somewhere between nasty and enough to make Venky's wonder if it is worth the candle to carry on. The board meetings at the last company I worked for regularly had Barclays representatives in attendance. In fact, a number were held at some very plush Barclays premises in Leeds when the boardroom was being renovated. Did owe them a fair old whack mind you.
PAFELL Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Go to last week's Daily Telegraph article. This is not based on any inside from Ewood or Pune but from knowledge of how banks work. You can deduce what will have happened to have reached this stage; all this is standard bank practise: - the Bank's central assumption will be Rovers will be relegated- only 2 PL clubs bottom on 1 Dec have not been - they will have talked with Paul Hunt and formally requested all board minutes (!) - they will have concluded they needed to attend a board meeting having concluded there is a corporate governance as well as a financing problem The next steps are pretty automatic - a freeze on call down on facilities of Rovers and Venky's London at best and demand for significant repayment in a tight timescale at worst - a requirement for a detailed month by month P&L and cash flow assuming relegation and no return to the PL showing how Rovers continue to live until after the parachute ends. The collapse in marketing/sponsorship revenues earned by the club will make this track look particularly horrible. - almost certainly a demand for a capital injection from Venky's before any transfer spending can be countenanced. The bank will want to see very serious skin in the game from the owners. Could barclays do what happened to liverpool and take them to court to demand they sell the club?
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I hate to say this but even Avram Grant would be better. He would be slightly better than Kean imo but we would see the same outcome under both managers. Relegation. I've always said that the hard decision wouldn't be sacking Kean, no the hard decision would be finding a decent replacement. If they appoint Grant then they haven't learned from their mistakes.
RoyRover Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Any chance that this poll can be reset? It would be interesting to see if there has been a change of opinion after a win. I know I haven't changed mine!
Lurid Coat Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Barclays at the Board meeting? There goes the transfer fund for January, and Hoilett. Grant is a far better option than Kean. Yeah, but at least we saw a massive return from the huge mortgage Venky's took out in August. Not really. Why the hell did they even take out that mortgage? What was it spent on? VENKY'S, TIME TO GIVE US SOME ANSWERS!!
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Atleast it´s not Steve Bruce. I'd take Bruce over Avram Grant.
philipl Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Could barclays do what happened to liverpool and take them to court to demand they sell the club? The very earliest that could happen would be this summer after 30 June when the new season starts- more likely 18 months from now. Administration is a far more likely scenario- there was underlying value in Liverpool. The Venky's have already destroyed what underlying value there was in Rovers so what would there be worth fighting over in Court?
PAFELL Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I'd take Bruce over Avram Grant. So would I. Would prefer souness though

There seem to be no rumours about them buying other clubs.

Or he may see how Keans set up the team and put Lowe in midfield, Hoilett on the right and Rochina up front.
Backroom DE. Posted December 5, 2011 Backroom Posted December 5, 2011 Although I wouldn't pick him personally, Grant is a FAR superior choice to Kean. On the other hand, I'd struggle to think of somebody with any managerial track record who isn't.
