The Rover of Finland Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Sturridge, Coutinho and Mignolet were excellent signings imo, plus they didn't overpay. Sakho has masses of potential and has proved his quality in the Champions League, I think that will turn out to be a really good signing. There's loads of CB partnerships where they both like to play on the same side. It just looks weird to see two left footers. Aspas looked good against Stoke and it's still early days anyway, Borini looked good for Swansea and the Italy under 21s, I wouldn't write him off just yet. Allen was a poor signing for sure, and they needed more depth which is where Alberto and Toure come in. I'm not saying he's done great business but it's really good imo, especially considering the players who the previous two managers bought. A Liverpool fan I work with says he'll play on the left. With maybe Moses on the other side, Coutinho in the hole ahead of Gerrard and Lucas or whoever in the middle. Sounds very attacking minded.

Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Similar to what they played last night. Moses on the other side and Suarez instead of Henderson. You don't need two defensive midfielders, or two midfielders who sit deep. I guess against the better sides they'll probably put Henderson or Allen in the side though.

I think they will go:- ----------------Mingolet Johnson----Aggar---Sakho----Enrique -------------Gerrard---Lucas -----Moses-----Suarez-----Coutinho ------------------Sturridge That’s a great team. Maybe not quite as strong as Chelsea or City but it is very impressive.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Yea it looks good doesn't it. But I agree that they should have bought another defensive minded midfielder in. Nzonzi would have been perfect. I'd like to see them challenging for the top 4. Just because it would make the league more interesting.

Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Good article on Hughes in the Guardian. Hope they win tomorrow. Stoke are probably my favourite PL team now because of Hughes and Nzonzi. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/sep/20/stoke-city-mark-hughes
roversfan99 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Nzonzi? The same guy who gave up and stopped trying for a whole season, and is a stroppy, arrogant bell end?
Backroom DE. Posted September 21, 2013 Backroom Posted September 21, 2013 Was watching Saturday Night Football earlier... Mourinho looks and sounds like a zombie at the moment. The bloke needs to take a long nap. Regardless, was amusing watching him make an example of Jamie 'literally' Redknapp was a matter of time until somebody did.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Yea the guy who was usually quality for us and easily one of our best players in recent times.. What season was that anyway?
Rover95 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 It's incredible that redknapp still has a job on sky. Especially considering how tactically aware Neville and Carragher are and he clearly has no clue . He talks complete @#/? most of the time IMO
roversfan99 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Did you go to any of the games, particularly away from home, where he literally put in absolutely no effort, Swansea away stands out? Even Big Sam had to drop him due to his bad attitude. It was the season we went down yes, people like Bradley Orr who everyone hated at least gave their all whilst Nzonzi got off scott free giving absolutely nothing. Even Samba got slagged off but at least he always tried on the pitch for us.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Nah the only away game I've been to recently was the one against Arsenal where he got sent off. What I saw from him the majority on the time, he was a classy player in possession and clearly our best midfielder. He was one of our best players the season when we went down. I don't like to use stats in football discussions but it's pretty telling we lost 8 out of our last 9 matches after he was dropped.
roversfan99 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 He definitely wasn't. To be honest he could have no complaints about being dropped as he was not putting in any effort. He was a complete disgrace and let down the fans that had paid to watch the team. With Kean around he got away with it in the main, otherwise I'm sure they would have turned very quickly. We lost many games because we had a terrible team and manager and the club was becoming more and more chaotic.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Well we all know he divides opinion but for me, he was one of our best players without question, in terms of ability and performance.

Especially considering how tactically aware Neville and Carragher are and he clearly has no clue . He talks complete kean most of the time IMO He fits the new era Sky description. Young, clean looking, played for a premier league club. I've noticed before, especially if he's on a panel with Gullit and Souness, he's often treated with a barely hidden disdain by the others. It's amusing if nothing else, though I do wonder if we'll see more guests like Gullit on SNF in future to make up for Redknapp's inherit weakness when it comes to saying anything intelligent.

He was a complete disgrace and let down the fans that had paid to watch the team. Got to wonder why the fans voted him player of the year. Ability wise he was far better than many fans would credit him with.
roversfan99 Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Although I didn't agree with that as I felt Dunny or Robinson should have got that award, we were discussing the season that he went down. He definitely was far from one of our best players then as he couldn't be arsed all season.

Nzonzi obviously wasn't easy to manage, but managers are there to deal with players of all types. We should never have sold Nzonzi, because as has been proven since, good central midfielders don't grow on trees. Oh for someone of his calibre now eh?
roversfan99 Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Irrespective of who it was under, he was not one of our best performers in the season that we went down, and not giving 100% is simply unacceptable irrespective of the manager.
thenodrog Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Never mind N'Zonzi giving up.... half the fans and most of the better players did too. Or at least the more perceptive ones. The rest ambled along every fortnight like so many zombies to give their full support to the evil regime that was raping and plundering the club.
Stuart Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 Irrespective of who it was under, he was not one of our best performers in the season that we went down, and not giving 100% is simply unacceptable irrespective of the manager. How quickly the Kean era is forgotten by some fans. Much like the one-man Bowyer Out campaign.Rovers under the Kean Alliance was not even close to how a normal football club operates. Let's not pretend players should have had to just suck it up and get on with it. When the bog cleaner gets made the main manager at your place of work or study, and begins to make extremely obviously bad changes which lead to catastrophic failure, yet keeps telling you how good things are, see how long people put up with it. But, of course, that would NEVER HAPPEN - and nor should it have at Rovers. What we needed was more N'Zonzis and less Myles.
Backroom DE. Posted September 22, 2013 Backroom Posted September 22, 2013 You mean 'inherent', Mr. Intelligence? yep... Although considering I wrote the post on my phone only one mistake is pretty good

Aberdeen 2010–11 1 Blackburn Rovers 2011–12 0 Aldershot Town (loan) 2012–13 5 Exeter City 2012–13 1 Career total 7 0 0 0 0 0 2 0 9 0 7 appearences for 4 clubs in three years (and never injured). He's signed on for Monza now in Seria B and hasn't played for them yet either.... I wonder what dodgepot skullduggery has gone on there to get him a team? btw my sources tell me that Myles was on 10k pw at Ewood! thats over 500,000 pa! Not hard to guess who was behind that scam is it?
den Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 What we needed was more N'Zonzis and less Myles. Seems some folk only want a team of nice guys.
