I saw a few rumours kicking about relating to Al-Fayed offering Fulham for sale around the US, but I'm with El Tombro- I know sweet FA about the NFL or American Football!!

I can only guess it's something to do with Jacksonville Jaguars??

Forget the Indians, the first Pakistani owner of a Pl club, never thought I'd see the day.

I have not got a clue about American football, Abbey can you elaborate on how big his team is in America and whether you reckon he a Venkys wannabe or the real deal?

Honestly, who gives a flying feck?

Think about it...

A bit more.

Stop. Pause.

But really...

Who cares?!?

Who cares about Coventry City? No one has posted a single word on this forum about their plight. Yet we jump around, the injustice of it all, the sheer horror, of us being owned by a set of wazzocks from India. There's an 800 page dossier somewhere in the hands of the FA/PL/FL (I'm not knocking the authors btw, fair play, they tried).

Cov are now playing their home matches in Northampton. 70 miles away. That's like us playing at Tranmere. No one gives a damn.

Just another nail in the coffin of English football i'm afraid. I know Fulham fans will be excited, but our domestic league has turned in to a pantomime. As London clubs go Fulham are a nice little outfit. Nice cosy stadium and a fair share of heritage. I hope for their sake this bloke doesn't destroy all of that. But i suspect he will.

Why though?!? 70 miles away, yet those in authority do nothing. "Not my jurisdiction" squire.

You're right Paul, it was good at first in all fairness, but come on, far too far north. You could almost argue that Jerome did them all a favour.

Anyway, apologies, good luck to jam jugs and his new soccer team.

I have. Check out page 3 or 4 of the Championship thread. And now the owners of the Ricoh are sueing the owners of Coventry City for breach of contract over the move.

Now I know that this is League 1, but I thought I'd share the crazy goings on at my local club:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23163594

So to sum up as quickly as I can, Coventry City are seeking to spend 3 years playing in a stadium that holds about 4,000 less than their average attendance whilst a new stadium is being built at an unknown location within the area. This temporary accomodation is about half an hour to 40 minutes away, down the M1. So the new owners, who owned the part of Coventry City Football Club that didn't go into administration and bought out the half that did (that's another convoluted story) turned down the offer from the company that owns the Ricoh Arena to play a season or two 'rent free' in order to build there own stadium, somewhere round here.

What that mean is that the city of Coventry would have two new stadiums, one with no football club, but great conference facilities a casino etc. and Stadium X, where Coventry City will play which no-one has even drawn up plans for. That is what seems to be happening right now, but the Football League has to ratify the groundshare with Northampton Town and the way the issues about the stadium, the rent etc. have gone for the last year or two it would not be a surprise if it was not ratified.

We're not the only fans in a seemingly permanent state of disbelief and confusion.

You did. Sorry Norb.

A very good post it was too, I remember it now. Well said Sir.

It really is incredible what's happened there. The game really is knackered.

But hey!!! Who are City signing? Or Arsenal? What about Wayne?!? Hang on, I'll just get my giveashitometer.

Well said. I bet there are Fulham fans who also see the scenario.

Sorry bob , thought we were allowed to discuss footy on the footy thread. My bad , lock it mods , mind you geese are ok to chat about but not footy.

As for Coventry start a thread on it then .

This Khan chap wouldn't hesitate in trying to move Fulham elsewhere if he gets the chance . He's thinking of moving a team from Jacksonville to London . Wouldn't surprise me if he tries to firstly change their name and their traditional kit.

Sorry Abs, nothing wrong with the thread at all, don't get me wrong. There's a certain correlation there between Cov and Fulham then, as you point out in your last sentence. What is happening to this country's football clubs, while the Government and football authorities look on and do nothing, is an absolute joke.

If you think for one minute that I was saying no one gives a feck about this / your thread then you're very wrong. I was illustrating the fact that no one cares about the goings on at any other football club and that "outrage" only occurs when something effects their own team.

It is also worth mentioning that the city council here in Coventry own about 50% of the company that runs the Ricoh Arena. I can understand why they were so miffed when Coventry City didn't pay the rent, but it was something like £2.5m p/a which would have been OK if they were still in the Premier League. The Administrators had sold the club to the highest bidder, who were the people who owned the bit of the club that wasn't in administration. There were a couple of other bids including the son of the owner of an NFL team (not sure which one) and a Chinese lot who wanted to own the stadium and all the site.

The previous owners, SISU were venture capitalists based in London who ran the club into the ground by squeezing the budget to the lowest amount they could. Then they started kicking off about the rent which eventually led to the current demise. No-one will make the trip down the M45 and M1 to Northampton to see the team. If the move was to one of the Birmingham clubs, then it would be much easier to get to.

The demise of Coventry City just shows the negligence of the FA et al in issues of ownership as they have allowed clubs to be sold like something off that Storage Wars to all sorts of characters who don't really give a hoot about the club. Coventry will probably be relegated again before this new stadium is built andGod knows what will happen to Fulham as another NFL owner jumps on the bandwaggon.

Like the NFL, English football is just another rich man's toy. And if they break it, they can simply walk away.

Why worry, the new owners will have passed the fit and proper test
