Mike Graham Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 According to today's LT (sorry but don't know how to post a link) the V's are in talks to sell to Thwaites. Thwaites are looking to build a new craft brewery on Ewood Park (they have already had positive talks with BwD Council) and build a new smaller multi-use 20,000 capacity ground close to junction 5 of the M65.

chaddyrovers Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Thwaites are selling their company to Marston for 25.1 million pounds deal. According to today's LT (sorry but don't know how to post a link) the V's are in talks to sell to Thwaites. Thwaites are looking to build a new craft brewery on Ewood Park (they have already had positive talks with BwD Council) and build a new smaller multi-use 20,000 capacity ground close to junction 5 of the M65. Not the story in the LT.
Mike Graham Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 Marston's have been brewing for Thwaites for the last 18 months.
Rover_Shaun Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Thwaites are (were) moving next to the A59 at Mellor across from BAe http://www.expressandstar.com/business/2015/03/31/marstons-in-25m-swoop-for-thwaites-brewing-business/ So according to that Marston's will own the main brands like Wainwright and Bomber but Thwaites will continue to make it's own craft beers at the new place near Mellor? So in theory they have sold Wainwright and Bomber for £25.1m
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 1, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted April 1, 2015 If anyone goes onto the LT site themselves they'll see this is an April Fools!

Stuart Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 That Thwaites/Marstons story is just bizarre. Hope it's not a sick April 1st joke but, then again, I hope it is. Selling off their best selling products, which will generate the most production and distribution volume? Another kick in the teeth for Lancashire workers: 150 of whom will (hopefully) find themselves as Marston's employees. For how long will those jobs remain in Blackburn.
mhead Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 If Thwaites bought out the Venkys it would be the first strategic action they had taken in 25 years. Pity the story is not true. Have you seen the Jeremy Clarkson story in the Grauniad?
onlyonejackwalker Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Feels like its been April Fools Day ever since I heard about Ronaldinho, Beckham, Champions League, Allardyce potted, classless moron, Salgado can't play, Roberts can't play, Nelsen is injured, Nzonzi won't play, Samba won't play, Robinson can't play, Dunn can't play, the new Rooney, the new Irwin, that tackle, and the very best of them all..... Shebby Singh our Global Advisor! Happy April Fools Venky Style.....sadly it lasts a lot longer than just one day.

Thwaites was/is leaving Blackburn anyway for the Ribble Valley.
Stuart Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Longsight Road is still technically Blackburn. And is still commutable. Wolverhampton certainly ain't.
thenodrog Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Technically? Nope it's definitely Ribble Valley. I can't help thinking Thwaites declared they were going there as a parting shot at Blackburn and BwD Council.
Clitherover Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Technically? Nope it's definitely Ribble Valley. I can't help thinking Thwaites declared they were going there as a parting shot at Blackburn and BwD Council. If it's across from BAE in Salmesbury it's South Ribble.
Rover_Shaun Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Nope it's Balderstone thus in the Ribble Valley council area. South Ribble only covers the airfield and a small part of the Bae buildings. Hence one of our sites smoking shelters only got permission 2 years after the South Ribble ones got erected
thenodrog Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hence one of our sites smoking shelters only got permission 2 years after the South Ribble ones got erected I'm rather surprised either of them allowed the construction of what are effectively drug dens anyway.
onlyonejackwalker Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I'm rather surprised either of them allowed the construction of what are effectively drug dens anyway. Smoking shelters are now drug dens and you think it is perfectly acceptable that Captain Hanley gets tanked up all week. Entertaining stuff. :0

Entertaining stuff. :0 Correct apart from the 'all' being replaced by 'once or twice'. Anyway surely I'm right? No one can deny that nicotine is an addictive substance and that most smokers are nicotine addicts to one level or another. Smoking booths are where they go to feed their addiction. How about heroin booths? How about cocaine or crystal meth booths? The ONLY difference is that nicotine is still legal for the time being.
