There's little point discussing signings with you chadster, we could sign literally anyone and you'd be happy with it. If we don't sign anyone that's also always the right decision as well. And you always dismiss any player who signs for another Club as crap.

The most recent case in point is Batth/ Weimann / Forshaw. Because we-ve actually gone and re-signed 33 year old Forshaw you're happy with that but you're seemingly not in favour of re-signing 33 year old Weimann or 34 year old Batth on account of their age.

However in the unlikely event we did persuade either to re-sign I'm sure you'd be delighted again and declare them excellent signings.

Certainly worth taking a handful of salt with this but I would say these are close, the Cantwell one as an example of what our top earners are on, and Travis as an example based on another going into his final year.

The question I would ask everyone on BRFCS, what would you offer him based on those examples of our structure? I personally would be happy to see Dolan on a 15k a week 3 year deal, but I wouldn’t put him in top earner category.

Incidentally - I’d make Travis top earner personally! 

A couple of examples from the championship, similar age and experience, attackers who went to a parachute teams last season; Both Callum O Hare and Tyrese Campbell went to Sheff United last season for free for 15k (according to the same basic AI Research)

I would bet that the signing on fees are very different mind!

 

I wouldn't disagree with making Travis top earner and I also wouldn't disagree with giving Dolan £15k p.w.

I suspect the figures quoted are in the right ball park. I'd be amazed if we're offering Dolan more than £10k p.w. if that.

Chaddy is way way to positive about rovers and the obvious failings on show still don’t deter him.

However on this occasion he was specific and stated he wouldn’t offer batth a 2 year deal would happily have him back for one plus an option so it was more a case of length of contract as opposed to their age

Absolutely spot on, he's a credit to the club and himself and no player works harder. I've hardly hard him say anything since he's been here, let alone a bad or arrogant word.

Yes I am very aware and know what he said but we have 2 in and Forshaw. You didn't think we would get any in for pre season which we have. Yes we need a number of more signings in but we need others out aswell. 

Ismael wanted Forshaw to re sign here given his performances last season and what he offers off the field which we don't see. He is 4/5th choice and someone who will mainly come off the bench in certain situation.

Ismael was clearly what he wanted and Gestede outlined in his interview Elliott Jackson what positions we want and what qualities and roles they wanted in. These 2 signings seems to fit that profile of player Ismael and Gestede were talking about.

On Batth I was very clear and said I wouldn't be offering him a straight 2 year contract but would offer him a 1 year contract or 1 year contract with an option. in the same post(The link provided above) that I wouldn't offer Forshaw a new contract so I'm baffled by your comment that I'm happy with him re-signing, cos when his contract extension was announced you asked me for my opinion on that I gave you this response "no surprise Forshaw has re-sign here. Forshaw is only 4th/5th choice if we don't flog Travis or Tronstad this summer instead of offering an extension.

If he was made CEO in title then he's fully accountable to everyone and he doesn't want that so he'll continue to provide himself with a shied from scrutiny.

Indeed. If shadow man was given his accurate job title - CEO - he'd face a lot more scrutiny. He'd also have numerous administrative and legal requirements as 'the boss' to fulfil including with the League/FA.

Most importantly within a year he'd either be facing fan revolt or media attention, oh no, that's no good.

By bringing in another stooge they can reset the clock - hoodwink the fans into thinking changes are being made, things are going to be different/better, 'just get behind the new CEO FFS' then by the time the new guy realises what he's up against or the fans start to turn on him another year will have gone by. 

Maybe by then they'll have seen off Gestede and got another 'Head of' in to replace him and another new 'project' to set in motion.

All smoke and mirrors with this lot, always has been always will be. Going right back to when they employed a 'Deputy CEO' (who needs one of those?) without even having a 'CEO' for him to be deputy to.
