We should just start calling the Riverside “The Tony Parkes Stand” even if the club won’t.

The fact they’ve sat on that for what, five years, says everything about this regime.

Such a simple but meaningful change and they couldn’t be arsed as they have absolutely no feel for Rovers or its heritage.

I actually refereed that match. Tony himself rang me to do it and I told him it would be an honour and it was. As well as being a part of a fitting tribute to Tony I got to actually referee Tugay.

On recognition Tony gave us all a Rovers watch which I still wear.

I remember in that game Tugay controlling a ball  then doing a full 360 with it never losing control for a split second

He was on another planet that night. He had the ball on a string all night, I know it was a testimonial but never seen such talent with a football in person.

Ripley looking like he'd have done a better job than Emerton the season before and Shearer dip of the right shoulder before firing home in front of the Blackburn End.

The night he healed the wounds from leaving.
