O'Riordan on the bench this evening - according to comments on twitter they have started their reserve side with 11 changes since their win on Saturday

won 4-0 - O'Riordan came off the bench for the final 12 minutes with the score at 2-0 (Callum Brittain played the full 90 for Boro)

Wow, that's a hell of a win for their reserve side. I assume it was against Boro's fringe and youth players too though, but still impressive.

Boro made 5 changes from Saturday's game, but kept the same front 3, & 2 out of the 3 starting centre backs.  They did change out their keeper and central midfield though

Personally I think it can be a mistake to play a lot of your previous starting XI in the first round of the cup, due to fitness levels not being maxed out yet and having played a game 3 days earlier. It's a fine balance though if the rest of your squad is weak. We saw how much the keeper swap hit us, perhaps the same happened to them. However you slice it, terrific outcome for Donny.

O'Riordan - drew 1-1

Connor O'Riordan - 6 - Becoming solid and at home in the centre of the defence, with ample interceptions and headers won here - although a few cagey moments where he just about stubbed out the danger. Booked.

 

On the bench today

Olson - lost 2-1 - was an unused sub

Start this evening for

O'Riordan - lost 2-0 - gave away a penalty for the second goal, possible was a little a bit harsh but he gave the referee a decision to make

Connor O'Riordan 7 - Header tipped over early doors. Weighed in with joint-most clearances in a generally solid performance. So unlucky the penalty call went against him

 

On the bench

Olson - drew 0-0 - remained on the bench throughout

Obviously not one of ours anymore but noticed that Lenni Cirino popped up with a goal for Gillingham last night after being at Clitheroe last season.

Duru loaned out until mid October, slightly strange as they only have 8 games left, but I am pretty sure that since he is U21 , he could come back even whilst the window is shut and play for U21s or even first team as he would not need to be registered as part of our 25 man squad

Permanent purchase option must mean Rovers don’t believe in him much. Too bad, this would have been an interesting test of his ability otherwise.
