Is the team stronger or weaker after the transfer window?

Sold our most important players because we’re tighter than a submarine door.

Of course we’re worse off.

Like everyone I expected the worst with the massive turnover but still to see any real discernable deterioration compared to last year.

Obviously could change when injuries come in etc. But balanced against that we are yet to see much of Gudjonsen and Baradji.

Toth alone is a massive upgrade on Pears, and TGH was very decent today. Really like Mori and Alebiouso, McCloughlin.

The point is we shouldn't have to sell our best players and hope that we can scour the globe and replace them at lower cost to give us a squad as good as we have! Huge gamble to stay where we are!!

Our aim should be got improve year on year.

We should keep our best players and scour the globe if necessary to make the squad even stronger.

Creating a squad as good as we had shouldn't be seen as an achievement. It means we will never leave this league except via relegation.

I agree but its not that linear... We  thought we were going to be in the relegation conversation last year but finished seventh. I dont think anyone thought we were stronger 12 months ago after selling Szmodics  and Wharton.

If the question is are we stronger or weaker its within the range of possibility that we are as good, a real stretch that we are better but possible. We just have to wait and see.

That said I still want Venkys out obviously, and to have an engaged owner come in, but separate from their lack of support the recruitment team and the manager could have worked miracles again.

That’s like playing “ Russian Roulette “ though. One season you’ll get it all wrong and the latest set of new signings will relegate you.

Well, this strategy has already taken us down twice with two or three near misses too

Ultimately we've only played 5 league games and lost 3 of them. Appreciate this thread came off the back of one of those wins, but far too early to say whether we've dodged a bullet or not. I think our first 11 is good enough to keep us up, but it remains to be seen how we cope with injuries and suspensions as time goes on. 

Either way, it's not acceptable that our goal is now just to survive with cheap gambles. Venky's need to go and give us the chance to have some real ambition again.

If only the latest "result" had stood, we'd have won 3 of our last 4 games. That's a reasonable run and we'd be looking up.

Indeed so, but even then it's still only 6 league games, of which we'd have lost half. Not enough for me to conclude we're stronger than last season. I'd personally need more time to make that call.

Oh I quite agree with you there. I'm still only thinking in the possibly will avoid the drop scenario.

I'm not too concerned about us going down at the moment, based on what I've seen across the league thus far. I think the only reason we'd be in trouble is if we suffered a number of serious injuries.
