Just going back to this a sec, it implies we have a transfer budget for January?? probably a few £100K Quote

We had more championship experience team last season compared to this one. I think a defence with Hyam still be better and that's my biggest regret of the summer transfer window is selling him with no replacement brought in. Quote

I think so, although given his age (going back to the Mafoumbi discussion during the summer), one appearance would then mean he could be converted to a standard work permit "Or they can give Exauce Mafoumbi his Championship debut. As the player hasn’t yet made his senior debut for any club, making his first appearance in a bad second-tier league would earn him five points. He’d then get an additional 10 points for playing in the Championship, hitting the 15 needed to qualify for a GBE work permit." Edited 22 hours ago by KentExile Quote

Either way, it seems a waste of an ESC slot unless he is the reincarnation of Maldini Edited 21 hours ago by KentExile Quote

I don’t see how that would meet 7b - if he’s signed in January by definition the whole of January can’t have passed since his signing. Therefore, in my opinion, summer ‘26 would count as the whole of a registration window. We’d then need to wait until January ‘27 to meet 7a. Quote

He could technically be signed now, he jut cannot be registered until the window opens on 1st Jan. This is possible as "future signings" can be made, all paperwork completed etc, the top teams do so all of the time. This would mean that if he is signed as soon as the window opens, then 1 full window will have passed by the time the January window closes, so he could then be converted in the summer of 2027 when the registration window reopens. Obviously this relies on Rovers being organised and efficient, so is pie in the sky stuff Edited 21 hours ago by KentExile Quote

A full window passing can’t possibly include a window in which that event took place, even if it was right at the very beginning of it. 1 Quote

LDRover Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago As the social media team are all over the long range effort of James Edmondson who is on loan at Macclesfield I fully expect his early recall and inclusion in the squad while Cantwell is quietly ushered out. Quote

Although he has played further forwards, he has primarily been a deep lying midfielder in his loan spells. He is more likely a replacement/cover for Tronstad than Cantwell https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/cj698lk17wnt#Line-ups Edited 19 hours ago by KentExile 1 Quote

This is surely the club laying the groundwork for not spending in January (as always intended) - 'we had a healthy budget and intended to make 3 or 4 signings but circumstances outside of our control...' etc. No need to sabotage a fax machine on Jan 31st that way. 3 Quote

AspRover Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Says that we also have a Bermudan u20 player on trial - it's all part of linking up with a development program rather than a serious look at the players I'd imagine. That said, does look like he's got a scholarship to play football at a US university and the last player we signed who took that path was Ryan Nelsen. He's also got some (moderately) competitive international experience, world cup qualifying caps vs Cuba and Honduras. Admittedly they lost both of them, but not heavily and I'd imagine that they were fairly hefty underdogs vs Honduras at least. Played CB and LB. Doesn't hurt to have a look. Quote
