If he doesn't sign another contract in the EFL where he can easily get 15k a week, and instead chooses to earn a quarter of that in Norway hats off to him.

But im fully expecting him to sign a pre contract with Derby, Watford, QPR, Middleborough in feb.

The family thing I am sure is right but no one walks away from a million quid extra on a two year contract.

We really are absolute specialists in giving our best players away for free. Must be the best the division has ever seen?

He cant (legally speaking at least) sign a pre contract with another English side until the final month of his deal (its the final 6 months of his deal if he went to any other country)

Not that I am disputing that he may well end up at another English side

'Family reasons' all rather convenient at the club that won't extend the contract of anyone and cuts/reduces/offloads wherever possible.

Proof will be in the pudding but I'd be surprised if he's playing in the Norwegian league come next year.

He said during a podcast during the summer with the Norwegian press.

Because I remember after that was said, @Kjell posted this post, which said that in another Norwegian podcast Tronstad said:-

• I want to stay abroad for as long as possible.

• I’d really like to stay at Rovers, I enjoy it a lot there.

• I have NOT received any contract offer from Rovers, there have only been some informal conversations.

Now I can’t find links to any podcast so don’t believe either view over the other, but the Elliot Jackson article about Tronstadt over the summer quotes Rudy as saying he wants to leave for personal reasons, and I don’t believe Rudy.

Tronstad will go. There is no reason to think otherwise based on how the club dealt with Travis, Hyam, Brittain, Dolan, Brereton Diaz, etc. He may well fancy sticking around but the club more than likely won't offer him some deserved improved terms.
