He left because he could no longer work under that regime. Just like Lambert. Just like JDT. Just like Eustace. Just like Park. Just like many others. Blaming Broughton for the transfer mishaps is naive at best. Not disagreeing necessarily, but why didnt Pasha step in and block the purchases of Hyam, Szmodics, Brittain then? Quote

He should have known better and sadly he has been made a scapegoat by many fans (including some on here) to the delight of Pasha. Part of he problem but not the main problem Quote

We could also ask why/how Broughton managed to complete those purchase during this first summer without a hiccup, but then suddenly "forgot" how to do his job As an additional (and unrelated to the above) - Pretty sure that whenever he was allowed to spend more than £1M on a player, they were a success (those he bought for under a million were much more hit and miss) - He at least knew how to get contracts signed Edited 2 hours ago by KentExile 7 Quote
Paul Mellelieu Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago One of Rev's perennial baddies is our Greg. Brought in some great players and god knows how the mistakes were made. Not a baddie in the scheme of things. 8 Quote

Absolutely full of BS as well. If he's as good as everyone says he is however, no doubt he'll re-appear over here again at a decent level at some point and then we can judge him in a Venky's/Pasha/Waggotless environment. Quote

sharpysharps86 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I still believe Rovers will sign a striker...but it'll either be the lad from Wednesday, a completely unheard leftfield Telalovic type, or Paul Mullin. 🥲 2 1 Quote

One of the reasons Bodø Glimt have risen from relatively unknown to Norway's best team and regular European side is partly due to Gregg Broughton's role. 5 1 Quote

davulsukur Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago So it's very much looking like another January failure under this circus. Jorgensen looks to be a decent pick up tbf but should have been signed in the summer. And his signing alone isn't enough. 2 Quote
ROVER_N_OUT1978 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago We have upped our bid to £800k according to a SW local reporter. An increase of £50k Quote

I just feel like the singular players get burnt out because there's no one around them to play with. Instead they end up running themselves into the ground and ultimately wanting to leave Quote

But I fully believe every reported fee that we've paid is with every bonus and add on possible included How much did we "pay" for Sidnei, I know he hasn't played much, but the small sample size (and the fact he hasn't played anywhere consistently for his whole career) says he's tripe and not worth the apparantley fee ((Happy to be proved wrong, but he doesn't exactly exude the high energy front foot football that we've been promised)) I suspect Jorgensens up front fee isn't anywhere near what's been said either. Another way for them to appear as though they are trying, and not cost cutting at every opportunity Agreed - though we have been doing this for a long time. We never got near to paying £5m for Gallagher, or £6m/£7m for BBD, as that would have required promotion / etc. The same way that our outbound transfers are add-on or clause heavy. And, for the record, I think Broughton had a strategy and it was clearly hamstrung by interference within the club. Szmodics, Hyam, Brittain, Tronstad are all significantly better than anything we've signed since. As someone else has already said: O'Brien and Undav arrive in that transfer window and we're probably still a Prem club now. Edited 1 hour ago by Andy 1 Quote
Angry_Pirate Posted 55 minutes ago Posted 55 minutes ago On a positive note... my £50 August bet (5-1) on Rovers to be relegated is already offering an early payout of £100. Quote

Tomphil2 Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago Yet again the desperation to buy cheap with cheap wages and pray they get a few goals so that value quickly increases is trumping the common sense approach. Invest in someone more proven and the returns will take car of themselves in the next few years, that's a proven method here. This lad must have good running stats is all i can say. 1 Quote
