  1. Hopefully that will be the end of the Gallagher experiment. Get Graham back in.
  2. Looks like finally there are decent options off the bench in defence (Tosin), midfield (Holtby, Buckley) and attack (Graham, Samual) Pressure on Gallagher now to start scoring goals. Hope he gets one today.
  3. I'm pleased we won but not sure I agree that paying £13m for Gallagher, Brereton and Armstrong to play on the right wing is working out particularly well.
  4. Still came on out of position on the right wing though. God forbid we play a genuine right winger there.
  5. I disagree that we should be changing formation every game to combat the opposition. The top teams don't do this. It's a slippery slope before you're changing the shape of the team to combat the threat of a decent left back from Oldham.
  6. I vaguely remember Warnock wanting to be paid to fly in every week from Cornwall. Whereas Coyle lives in Langho.
  7. Sounds like he is an attacking central midfielder. I’m fully expecting him to play on one of the wings if he joins.
  8. Defending better than I thought we would. Finding goals from our £12m strike force is more of a problem.
  9. The European scouts have got to justify themselves somehow. I'd much rather sign a right back than another attacking central midfielder who will push Rothwell even further down.
  10. My main issue with 3 at the back is that under Mowbray it quickly turns into 5 at the back, with the wing backs not committing, leaving us with very little going forward. I'd much rather have Downing as right wing back, at least he can get a decent cross in. Years of Bennett on the wing has shown he is not effective in the final third, which you need to be as a wing back.
  11. I did worry who would cover Mulgrew’s goal contribution.
  12. Surely Downing should be at either left wing back or right wing back?? I did suggest that Tony would crowbar Tosin into the team as soon as he was fit.
  13. Armstrong getting a fair bit of stick on here, but Gallagher seems to be getting away with doing very little every game and avoiding criticism. Surely we’ve got to go back to Dack and Graham. We have also got to settle on a style of play. The players aren’t good enough to be playing different systems every week like Mowbray is asking of them.
  14. If that is the case then the scouting department need to work within those parameters and not waste time coming up with players we can’t afford. Regardless of budget, next summer we’ll need to sign 2 maybe 3 goalkeepers. That is not going to be easy in one summer window.
  15. I agree we shouldn't break it up whilst the partnership is working well. I just have a hunch that Tony will be under pressure to play Tosin, and shoehorn him into the team like he has with Gallagher. Let's face it, if Tosin doesn't start any games before Christmas, he'll be off back to City in a flash come January.
  16. Most people would assume that if Lennihan/Williams keep playing well, then Tosin will sit on the bench and have to fight his way into the team. But I think given the fee involved and the amount of time spent chasing him in the transfer window that Tosin will get played regardless of the form of Lenni/Williams.
  17. The loan system is really imbalanced in favour of Premiership teams, who seem to be able to charge large fees for their U23s to go out on loan. Championship and below are probably paying the wages of their players going out on loan. I think we’re in for a reality check with Tosin. Rovers have inexplicably spent £1million of the meagre transfer budget on him, so he’ll get shoehorned into the side as soon as he’s fit.
  18. So we spent the whole of last January transfer window chasing someone who now Mowbray is resigning to the U23s. If half that effort had been put into signing a centre half we might just stop shipping soft goals. And yet he doesn’t say a negative word about some of the other young players like Bell and Brereton who have had many a shocker.
  19. I think the reason Leutwiler got a new deal was just to have a keeper in the building, Mowbray and Venus tried and failed miserably all summer to sign goalkeepers but ended up with a panic loan of Walton plus no one else. If we’d let Leutwiler go we’d have Fisher on the bench. Mowbray said he wanted experience in the goal. Yet we’re massively weaker. I don’t think he’s given a reason how this was let happen.
  20. Rovers played well and were the better team throughout. The young team were knocking it around towards the end really nicely. Future is bright with these kids. Sadly, we gave away 2 of the softest goals I’ve seen away.
  21. Rovers much the better side on the whole. Losing because we have a non league standard keeper in net. Dack and Armstrong starting to form some good understanding and playing well. I'm the first to hold my hands up as a critic of Mowbray's new style BUT it is good to watch and is starting to bed in. Buckley is quality he plays like the ball is glued to his foot. We can't defend crosses still. Smallwood should not be on the pitch, simple as that.
