v Oxford United (a) - 18/1/25

Forshaw mistake leading to a free kick just outside of the box. He passed it straight to one of theirs leaving Brittain to take one for the team. 1-0 to Oxford. That one's on Venkys. -

He booked him for turning and walking into their CB, who was immediately behind him. -

Capable but the same old problems persist. Lack of depth, lack of firepower. -

Gueye given a yellow card for pretty much nothing. -

Time to see if Forshaw was adequate cover. Both first team midfielders out now. -

Why are we passing it backwards out of the box when we're in the box, to a player with a worse chance of scoring? -

The defending is all over the place. Interesting that Weimann was away and got clipped, went down and the ref waves claims of a free kick away when it should have been a free kick and a yellow card. Brittain just did the same and it's a free kick to Oxford. Looks like we've got a silly c*nt today. -

A let off there, offside goal for Oxford. We've started off like a practice game. -
Alan Wright was an excellent full back, he was just later overshadowed by Le Saux. He went to Villa after being back up to Le Saux and had a good career there.
-
We should be trying to make it happen if we aren't already. He looks to be a game changer.

Mak is better against tired legs. I've been probably Brittain's biggest critic (but I still spell his name right unlike some 😄 ) but recently he's been fantastic. When he was first signed he looked a good player but his performances really took a dive. Eustace appears to be one of those managers that can get players at their full potential, if not getting more from them. Brittain was my man of the match and that cross for Mak's goal was amazing as was his own finish. After the first half I was worried that last night was going to be another Hull smash and grab type game where we came away with nothing. So I was delighted with 3 points, 3 goals and a clean sheet. Credit to the Portsmouth fans for travelling all that way, sticking it out and singing throughout.

Plenty of Berks in the boardroom.

v Middlesbrough (a) - 11/1/2025, FA Cup R3

When we were casting a massive shadow over them I don't remember this from our fans. As we were watching Rovers hold the PL cup aloft at Ewood, not once did I think of them getting relegated to div 3. I was only later reminded of it in the Telegraph. Iirc, it was in a small column beneath a large photo of Alan Shearer winning the golden boot. -

Another sitter missed. -
Did we sign Forshaw to make the Sanderson signing look better?
-
A lot of people thought Fleck was a good signing even though Sheff Utd fans were saying he’s only got one leg after breaking it twice in the same place. Let’s hope Eustace’s window cleaner has two working legs.
-
They look like two downright shit players going off what their respective clubs fans are saying, so even if we land decent quality attackers they seem absolutely pointless. May as well just use youth players. Is this really the best we can do in terms of low cost cover?
-
He's another bargain basement player whose best days are behind him. He wouldn't be playing if Travis was fit. There was a moment when he brilliantly nicked the ball off a Burnley player in our half, took it forward into a dangerous position in their half, then passed it straight to another Burnley player. And that header which should have been a goal. You'd think a player of his experience would be burying that. He didn't even trouble the keeper.
-
How did he miss? We've missed easier chances recently too.
-
Apathy, and they know there's a good chance of defeat, which is largely their fault. Cowards.
-
Do tell.
-
How soon before Travis is back as we're really missing him? He's a different player under Eustace. I can't see us getting back into the play off positions without an injection of quality in midfield and attacking areas both with players coming back or transfers. We've run out of steam.

They had 4 shots scored 1, we had 11 shots scored 0. There's plenty of people saying even if we had a striker there's no service but we had chances to get it in the net. This is what happens when you have disinterested miserly owners and a CEO who is winging it.
-
He’s nowhere near the quality of Dack.
