Am I missing something? From what I can see he scored 4 goals for Watford in the Championship last year and barely played for them at this level in the stint before that. 10 in the PL but that was a while ago. I can't see anything to say he's ever been prolific.

Not one decent centre forward amongst them. That was the aim that they've had ages to sort out. Reminds me of that other time we desperately needed a centre forward and instead they got a midfielder on loan, then Wanky Waggott and Pasha the flasher managed to fuck that up and we got nothing.

To add insult to injury, he's 30 years old. Decent for Barnsley about 5 or 6 years ago, but since then Sam Gallagher's record shines in comparison.
