  1. There was a recent game (I say "recent", must have been in the last 10 years) when Rovers were away and scored a glorious team goal. The commentators counted the number of passes that Rovers made before scoring. Can't think who it was against. Maybe a Yorkshire team?
  2. Ours is a superb national anthem. It's not an entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.
  3. Home again on Good Friday. ☹️ Why can't we be away for once.
  4. Is it worth discussing Britain's Got Talent on here? I have only ever voted in the final twice. The first time I was determined to vote Susan Boyle but instead voted for the superb dance troop known as Diversity and they won. This year the final was made up of really good acts but this fella with the balloon had me laughing all the time. I saw his audition but missed the semi final. So, not expecting him to win, I voted for him. I was quite shocked when he won. Since then I keep watching on You Tube his three performances and cannot stop laughing. What will he do next? I'm obviously not in the minority because he won but people like Graham Liver on Radio Lancs don't agree.
  5. When is the trip from India to Lancashire taking place is more the question for me.
  6. The whole squad v Spuds get my vote. Tiny Taylor as an attacking right wing back. Berg and NEJ at centre back. Jansen & Cole, Duff, Dunne and Gillespie. Not forgetting Bjornabye, Yordi and Hignett. Of course Friedel and Hughes were the mainstays but what a performance. Bellamy beat Pompey on his own. New one. MGP v Fulham to volley in, from such an acute angle, Kuqi's cross and later to put a pin point corner for Tugay to volley home. Also when he scored both goals for us to beat Man Utd at Old Trafford. How I miss those days; probably more than when Dalglish was in charge.
  7. It may have been better to call him Ante Pottyloo. The letter g in Turkish is silent. So Tugay's surname would be pronounced Ker im oloo, with the emphasis on "im". I was educated on this by Kevin Livesey, a tennis coach in Malaysia, who claims to have played for Rovers reserves in the early 1950s. He never got a first team chance so cannot be found in the history books.
  8. It's the swaggering arrogance of Manure over many decades that gets me. I've seen City almost always in their shadow. So I'm glad they won. I think City have a superb player in every position. The odd one out to me is Grealish. He doesn't fit their style. He should be at another club.
  9. When you are defending in your own penalty area you must do everything with both hands shoved up your arse.
  10. I'll stick my neck out now. United to win on penalties.
  11. City score after 18 seconds
  12. Yes. Thanks. I realise that now. It was a league match at the end of his career.
  13. Anyway, back to JDT. I remember Muffin the mule too, with Annette Mills at the piano and Ann Hogarth pulling the strings. Do you remember Saturdays......Whirligig with Humphrey Lestoq and Saturday Special with Peter Butterworth. Mr Turnip and Hank Rides Again. Most on this board haven't a clue what we're on about. Should I book myself into a care home?
  14. Where did you buy the elixir from? Does that shop still exist? Do you realise Fergie Suter only plated one game for us? Where is Jack Southworth in that team? I think he scored more goals per game than Shearer did.
  15. Friedel Newton England Henchoz Le Saux R Clayton Tugay Douglas Bellamy Duff Shearer
  16. Most positions you can fill with brilliant players. The one position I cannot think of a truly outstanding player is RB. The first one I saw was Ron Suart. Ok, we have Berg, Emerton, Kenna, Neill. We've never had a Piqué.
  17. I'm very proud of my club and I'd like to think it sets high standards. If we had the only decent away dressing room in the football league other players and their staff would take notice. Maybe a good young player would want to move to us rather than anyone else because we set so high a standard.
  18. If I were the owner, one minor detail would be this........The story begins here................ About 5 years ago my grandson and I experienced a ground tour. It was only us two. Having been shown the wonderful home dressing room we then experienced the away dressing room which was appalling. The treatment table had a hole in it. It looked like it had been rescued from the local rubbish dump. When we complained about the total shabbiness we were told, "Everyone does it". In other words all the other clubs do the same thing. Well, now, me being the new owner, that away dressing room would have the same quality as the home dressing room and there would be a sign on the wall reading, "This is Blackburn Rovers. You are very welcome". I would also have the home team come out first and applaud the opposition onto the field. Just minor detail in the thick of things.
  19. Brad was the best keeper I've ever seen at Rovers. But, in my eyes, he had a weakness in that he was regularly beaten by a low shot to his left. Well, nobody is perfect.
  20. He's on loan from.............................Luton Town
  21. Hopefully they'll soon be putting Artificial Intelligence in charge of VAR. That way we'll always get the right decision.
  22. I'm a Prestonian, worked in Blackpool and Bolton. Never ever heard of a John Bull in a chip shop. And a dab is a flat fish with sand paper skin to me. Tea cake or barm cake; same thing. Flour cake in Bolton and muffin in Manchester. Back on topic.......is he staying?
  23. So, two Hatters in the play-off finals this weekend. Did you know that?
  24. What a bloody shame. I know lots of you don't like Wigan but I have a soft spot for Dave Whelan who originally invested in them. I'd hate to see them go the way of Bury.
