Is that Birdie's great grandad's house in the corner? -

Just watched the highlights. All three shots early on were on target and SAFC were lucky to block them. We played well. Hedges hadn't a clue that Clark was there as he tried to clear it. Unfortunate. Pears poor positioning for their second. Their third goal was very well taken. Probably Sunderland are the best team we've played so far. They are joint top scorers with Norwich. Wouldn't surprise me if we won at Ipswich. -

Arteta admitted he was reluctant to change keepers because it looked like he was dropping Ramsdale. Then he thought I interchange players of equal form and quality in all the other positions so why not GK? Pears wouldn't be "dropped"; just rested to give the other guy a chance. -

Amazed Rovers fans aren't demonstrating against the owners every week. -

Blimey, John! Have you ever been to Ewood? It's the River Darwen. They rushed onto the field and aquaplaned towards us on the Riverside. I thoroughly enjoyed the crazy gang doing that. Football has lost its characters like Bruce Grobbelar walking on his hands on his goal line and, back in the 1960s, the referee who did a little dance on the centre spot before kick-off. -
My biggest worry about all this is that I don't think enough Rovers fans have the will to protest. If there aren't massive vociferous protests then Waggot and Venkys have won.

Good job they couldn't trace him. He'd have given them "what for" and told them where to go. He lives near me but I rarely see him. I think he isn't in the best of health.
-
Derek Dougan was, of course, a far better player at CF than any others mentioned. So it was obvious to pick him. Little did anyone at Rovers realise that he was carrying an injury and had posted his transfer request that morning. I remember Isherwood playing mainly at inside forward. Far better than Eddie Thomas IMO.

I wish Eamonn Rogers had been there. He could have been but he has rejected football since he retired from the game.

In the photo, yes. How old is Mick McGrath? Isn't he still alive?

Oooohhh!!! The very name "Chesterfield" gives me the collywobbles. The only team to beat us THREE times in the league in the same season. -
Give him time.

Right! I shall try the lot (heads) from left to right (of the viewer of course):- Chris Sulley, Rudy Gestede, John Byrom, Chris Samba, Gordon Taylor, Swag, Paul Round, Rick Parry, Colin Hendry, no idea, Marlon Broomes, Tony Parkes, Kevin Gallacher, Malcolm Darling, Stuart Ripley, Bryan Douglas.
-
Ah! Chris Sulley is my Duncan Mackenzie. Of course, DM has grey hair now. Still don't know the two to Swag's left. Can anyone give the names of all from left to right?
-
Who is behind Parkes? And who is Swag shaking hands with and the guy on his (not Swag's) left?
-
Keeley?
-
Duncan Mackenzie, John Byrom?, Stuart Ripley?

Do you mind? We're not all tarred with the same brush. However, I have noticed over the years that quite a lot of Rovers fans seem to have to have someone to pick on. Jason Lowe, Keith Andrews, Elliot Bennett to name but three. There always has to be one. -

I've tried the JW stand twice this season. Steps are so steep. Next time I'm back to the good old (dilapidated) Riverside. -

Can you imagine bringing on Jordan Rhodes for his debut for us in similar circumstances to today? We'd all be saying," This new lad is far too slow. He'll never score many goals for us". -

Good players don't necessarily make good managers. On the other hand you don't have to have been a good player to be a great manager e.g. Alex Ferguson and Roy Hodgson. Pears has become invisible. Has someone air-brushed him out?
