  1. Sparky has to take the credit, we all wanted him out when Boro were sniffing around, but Sparky stuck to his guns and got him signed up again and he looks like a class act now.
  2. Is that a good draw? The answer that springs to mind is no.
  3. The Grabbi deal HAD to be dodgy, its probably the most blatant dodgy deal in the history of the premiership, £6.5m on a Serie B striker who was scouted with the use of video only. I just hope that Souness gets caught out somewere down the line and this transfer gets looked into in great detail. As for the worst signing it is definately Davies without a shadow of a doubt, he had been in England and we all knew all about him, £7.5m at the time was just crazy and he proved that. I actually thought Grabbi was a talent in some ways but he was never going to make it here as he never had the commitment to do so. What about all those £4m ish signings under Kidd/Woy Gillespie Carsley Dailly McAteer Blake Ward Pedersen Seemed to be the 'in' amount to pay for a player at that time
  4. With the money from those four, we could have bought Wright-Phillips, Essien or Drogba in today's market....Now i don't feel all that bothered.
  5. Very well said. I think for those with their eyes open its blatantly obvious that there are some very shady happenings in the world of football, but unfortunately the panorama programme didn't even scratch the surface (although granted, it would be incredibly hard to do so). All the programme has done has trivialised the situation by leaving out so many clubs and names involved, and focusing so narrowely on a couple of incidents without even providing sufficient evidance for prosecution.
  6. To be fair Krislu its now out of the window, if Hughes thinks we need something immediately then we have to look at players we can bring in at this moment in time, which is obviously restricted to free's. As many are saying, we are currently trying to run self-sufficiently and its clear for all to see that our revenue streams must be one of the lowest in the league, and therefore our spending has to reflect that if we are to stay afloat.
  7. All very true in my eyes, good post mate.
  8. If sutton does or return, or indeed Sheringham arrives, I don't think its got anything to do with a lack of ambition. Hughes obviously thinks we are still lacking a bit of experience up there, and at this time of the season there doesn't seem to be any other options.
  9. I think the point has been reached were we must realise there is very little more we can do to attract people through the gates. As is mentioned over and over again, we are a very small town and one with a high ethnic population who do not seem to share the same interest in football (no racism involved, just stating facts). Therefore the only way to get more people through the gates would be to charge uneconomically low prices and thus lose more revenue due to the extra expenditure incurred or to try and attract fans of other clubs to come and watch rovers, something that im sure all the real supporters dont want to see. I still personally dont think ticket revenue is the be all and end all of income streams, and can easily be combatted with the celver budgeting instructed by JW. Its easy to say Spurs are in a greater position to compete because of there larger fanbase, but the fact remains that even if they earn an extra £5m per year from gates, this can easily be cancelled out with there pathetic transfer dealings, or paying somebody like danny murphy/steed malbranque/mido etc etc £30k a week to sit on there bench all season. We must realise that there is no quick fix solution to attendances, if a solution is available at all, and therefore the job that JW and MH are doing is increasingly important to the club, and we must realise that.
  10. Wiz, is that your nickname? Just out of curiosity really. I've been whizz since I was about 3, a fantastic nickname im sure most will agree, but seems to be a bit common nowadays.
  11. Its clear your input isn't wanted RoverTheMoon, there's absolutely no need to let us know each and every time you are apparently laughing. I don't post as much as most on here as I'd prefer to read what others have to say, but its clear you really get people's backs up.
  12. RoverTheMoon, you're post are unconstructive and generally very petty, i'm sure there are also rules against txt speak. Would you not prefer to post on the official board?
  13. Looks as though trials might be needed to seperate us desperado's
  14. O dear, I think the big mans been dropped today. What a strange transfer.
  15. So were they a team that play togther regularly? From the pictures they seem to be a collection of somewhat overweight lumberjacks, rather like Shefki.
  16. I don't want to tread on anyones toes, but it would be nice to give them a good hammering at home. If there is any places availalbe please let me know. Cheers
  17. I'd definately be up for playing in the return leg. I'm fairly confident we could make a good go of overturning this 10-3 business with a decent goalscorer.
  18. I completely agree, Neill should not be captain. I'm not sure whether he has the leadership skills to warrant the position, and after the way he has acted this summer, im certain he wont have the full respect of the players in the same way that Tugay, Friedel and even Savage have.
  19. Just called the ticket office who have apparently sold nearly 300 tickets so far. Still considering this one.
  20. I'd certainely be up for this fans game if you're still after players. There'll be two or three of us coming so if you need extras... Cheers
  21. Looks like i've missed the deadline aswell. Fair enough if you don't add my score in at the end, but I thought I would add my two peneth. 1. Chelsea 2. Man United 3. Liverpool 4. Arsenal 5. Spurs 6. Bolton 7. Newcastle 8. Aston Villa 9. West Ham 10. Everton 11. Rovers 12. Wigan 13. Portsmouth 14. Middlesboro 15. Man City 16. Watford 17. Fulham 18. Reading 19. Charlton 20. Sheff Utd
  22. To be fair to JJ I think he is a very talented player. He does seem to be rather bigheaded, but he reminds me of SWP quite a lot, he's got a very good first touch and nice technique, I wouldn't be surprised to see him do very well in the championship at make it back into the big league someday.
  23. I suppose Senderos was young at least
  24. There we go, nothing all summer and then we get 2 in 1 day. Discuss...
  25. Its not all fun and games, after our campervan broke down on the way out to Germany last Wednesday, I had to come home and get a flight out on Friday for 4 days with nowere to sleep. That meant I missed the Germany v Costa Rica game and couldnt sell me £120 ticket. Then went to sweden v trinidad. I got to the USA v Czech game at 12:00 and tried to get rid of the 1 spare ticket i had, after about 2 minutes i was arrested by two plain clothed officiers, banged up for 12 hours on my own and fined 300 euros and released at midnight. This world cup just wasn't meant to be for me.
