  1. Fair play Bentley, i think we have a real loyal bloke on our hands here, and one who is willing to speak his mind at all times. I agree that had anyone else come out and done this then we would all be slating them, but at the same time he has spoken his mind and said he owes it to the Rovers fans who pay his wages...and from a Blackburn Rovers point of view i think he's a bloody hero. Get in there Bentley.
  2. The chances of getting 15m for McCarthy are zero. The fact is, we signed the guy for 2.5m and i would be amazed if we managed to get 8m for him. I completely agree that its a disgrace this kind of situation keeps arising, but the simple fact is, no matter which way you look at it, he isnt worth 15m. Nor is Berbatov worth 40m, but at least he has put himself in that bracket of 'world-beaters' were the very top clubs are prepared to pay 200 or 300% more for a player he can produce an extra 5 or 10%.
  3. I can only see a downward spiral for Chelsea, nobody can dispute Benni has had a great season, but somebody who can propel you to the league title he is certainely not. Along with signing free transfers from Reading whilst Man United get hold of Owen Hargreaves, i can't help thinking the dominance of English football will swing back up North once again. On another note, i think its time Benni left, after all he's said and the rumours coming out recently I can't see any reason to prevent him leaving, hopefully we can replace him with Bellamy AND Beattie, which would leave us in fantastic shape. I also have a feeling that this coming year may well be Gallaghers chance to shine, although we've heard it every year for the past 3 or 4 seasons, its clear that he has an abudance of talent in a similiar way to Bentley when he first joined, and as he matures I'm sure Hughesy can begin to get the best out of him, hence the new contract. Cheers Benni, and goodbye
  4. It would be interesting to see the odds on Benni staying/going at the moment. Were exactly do we go from here, even if we were to sign Bellamy back it doesnt seem like a step forward, but at the same team, trying to keep hold of Benni against his will could be a disaster. Its blatantly obvious that he's about to sign for Chelsea who will use him once a month against the 'lesser' clubs, and he'll fall back into the world of premiership mercenaries. Just what is the point of following a team in todays premiership.
  5. I also find it a little strange and almost dissapointing that we appear to be settling for someone of Nonda's quality as our forward signing for the summer, possibly suggests that were going to keep hold of the extra revenue this summer and use it to further stabilise the financial situation which may not be a bad move in the long run, especially if we let the silly money change hands whilst everyone is flush in the summer, and then hang around for a season until the market settles down again. Then again i could be talking tosh.
  6. Why on earth would anyone want him back on here? His views, and the way he constantly rambles on about them, are a complete shambles and are just quite simply ludicrous. How on earth can he have a gripe with John Williams!? The man is doing a fantastic job keeping us in the premiership and allowing us to continue challenging and punching well above our weight. The bloke clearly has no idea about the history of Rovers or the background associated with the club, and simply beleives that his town should feature a Manchester United style football team. As for criticizing the Walkers, he's wrong again. It was Jacks idea to invest in Rovers and he was the only real football fan in the family. Therefore he made sure that when he died he had in place what he thought to be a sufficient backup plan for the club. This is now being carried out by the Walker trust. Why should the rest of the family decide to plow millions more into a club which they have no real interest in? We need to be self-sufficient.
  7. The man who has undoubtedly been the most high profile footballer in the world over the last 10 years, coming to play infront of 15,000 at ewood...it can't happen. can it?
  8. I'm guessing i've left this one far too late to organize, as I didn't think i could make it initially because im going travelling a week after the game. Anyway, is it going to be an impossibility for me to get tickets for this one or not? Looking for probably 3 tickets, not been away in europe yet. Cheers
  9. Another advantage being that he could move back to Manchester. Like people are saying, its highly unlikely, but would be an amazing acheivement. I'd have him all day long.
  10. The two things we need to remember here are: A) Ticket revenue is NOT a massive source of income for us, never has been, and never will be. B ) The catchment area for Blackburn Rovers must surely be one of the smallest in England. There are approximately 80,000 possible fans in Blackburn (after Asians are considered) and we have an astounding number of local rivals. The only reason this gets brought up again and again is because it doesn't look good when talking to your mates, but the fact remains that 13k wasn't a bad crowd for us, and was simply the hardcore turning out for a cold Thursday night.
  11. An absolute genius of a footballer, in recent televised games pundits have been raving about him, I think he's finally starting to get the recognition he deserves.
  12. First off, fair play to Chelsea who brought a decent number considering the circumstances. Although there was no atmosphere all night, could almost hear a pin drop. Mcevely looked completely inept first half and was constantly turned inside out by cole, robben and Geremi. Improved in the second but I don't think he's ever going to make the grade. Henchoz looked comfortable and did a good job from what I could see, I would say he is definately on a par with Ooijer. Not convinced by Sergio yet, but he looks lively and will no doubt get his chance with the injuy to Pedersen, who was absolutely awful all night and must surely be dropped even if he recovers for the weekend. Finally, does anybody know why Gally wasn't included at all tonight? It seemed bizarre that Emerton was moved up to the right wing when it would have been the perfect oppurtunity to give the young man a start.
  13. That is a completely full strength squad for Chelsea at the moment, and as such i can't see us going through for one minute. Will be strange for them to play in such an empty stadium but it looks as though all the superstars will be out.
  14. Differen't guy. This one has definately never played for Lazio.
  15. I was thinking poster age, but interesting all the same.
  16. Is it me or does one sentence contradict the other?
  17. What is the average age of the above 10-12 posts?
  18. Does anybody on earth begrudge Steve Mclaren the England job? I would rather clean toilets.
  19. Basle and Feyenoord have been respectable champions league sides in recent years, and Nancy will be no pushovers, I cant see where the optimism is coming from.
  20. To be Honest Den I think the Celtic game was definately more high profile and this more interest. I would be absolutely amazed if ewood is anywere near full tommorow night.
  21. Sparky has to take the credit, we all wanted him out when Boro were sniffing around, but Sparky stuck to his guns and got him signed up again and he looks like a class act now.
  22. Is that a good draw? The answer that springs to mind is no.
  23. The Grabbi deal HAD to be dodgy, its probably the most blatant dodgy deal in the history of the premiership, £6.5m on a Serie B striker who was scouted with the use of video only. I just hope that Souness gets caught out somewere down the line and this transfer gets looked into in great detail. As for the worst signing it is definately Davies without a shadow of a doubt, he had been in England and we all knew all about him, £7.5m at the time was just crazy and he proved that. I actually thought Grabbi was a talent in some ways but he was never going to make it here as he never had the commitment to do so. What about all those £4m ish signings under Kidd/Woy Gillespie Carsley Dailly McAteer Blake Ward Pedersen Seemed to be the 'in' amount to pay for a player at that time
  24. With the money from those four, we could have bought Wright-Phillips, Essien or Drogba in today's market....Now i don't feel all that bothered.
