Okay, Vinjay, what would you like to see happen as far as Rovers is concerned (after reading and digesting Philipl's post below)? I think the reason that everyone is getting frustrated is that you don't seem to be able to understand constructive argument and facts - prove me wrong and let us have your ideas. -

I'm with Waggy there. The team didn't inspire me at all, but given those available was probably what I'd gone for. I think Bentley is coming on nicely, the lad will do for me - not convinced he should be a regular in the team as yet but it would be good to keep him. Lucas Neill - what a talent - glad to see him getting the Captain's armband when Tugs went off, please don't let Lucas go anywhere, Sparky. Zura looks to have lost a bit of confidence but he is one we must keep, he's a young lad yet. Paul Dickov - what can you say that hasn't been said before? Off the pitch he is a lovely friendly man but he must be the dread of opposition defenders like an itch you can't scratch! And bringing on a fresh Shefki when they are tiring to add to their torment - brilliant! One or two of the players produced their usual cringe-making moments but at the end of the day they got us three points! Go, lads! I'm begining to enjoy watching Rovers again. You are my shefki my shefki kuqi you make me happy when skies are grey you'll never know just how much i love you please dont take my shefki away. KUQI! You can come round to tea any time, Shefki! -
with any luck he'll be getting a few splinters up his backside from the bench soon then
-
If he went back to Rangers, d'you think we might be able to sell him a couple of players? Amo, Flitty and Douglas spring to mind - and I'm sure there are one or two others who might like a change as well.........

Couldn't have put it better myself, Waggy.

A thought which had crossed my mind as well -
The thing is, you're looking long term here. For top players you're talking millions of pounds, year in, year out, and wages on top. Being realistic, how many clubs have that kind of money coming in even with rich owners? Whatever Jack wanted, he is gone now, and he always intended the club to be self-financing so the fact that money is still being pumped into the club by the Trust has to be a bonus. And you are not going to find anyone, unless another Jack, who is going to put money into a small town football club punching above it's weight.

Whatever the arguments of the sending off it ruined the game and thoseRovers' supporters who paid to see 90 minutes of football were cheated. I'm not convinced it was deliberate handball but given the Halsey himself 'did not see' the incident a yellow should have sufficed. As would certainly have been given had the situation been on the other boot as it were. Looking at the stats, Everton committed twice the number of fouls as did Rovers - some quite nasty - but what did they get? One yellow card. And I'm still angry about Pedersen being punched in the stomach, that should have been a straight red, but of course Halsey 'didn't see it'. However, the fourth official did, it was right in front of him, yet I don't suppose it will be mentioned. -

Morten has become the opposition target punchbag. Today he got several surreptitious elbows, kicks and even a couple of punches in the stomach. I cannot see how Everton got through the match with just one yellow card. An absolute travesty. -

Hopefully Jay will come back to Rovers for treatment. He doesn't have much luck on the unjury front, does he but I'd bank on our current crew to get him fit again. -
Just watching Donny Rovers playing Aston Villa. Donny are giving Villa a torrid time and so far are winning 2-0 with just under 30 mins to go And Millwall have equalised against THE BIG CLUB Tonight is really going rather well................. and it'snot finished yet 3-0 to Donny Rovers..................................

[Archived] Savage Bad Press
roversmum replied to ihateburnley's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Naturally there is bad press. After all, Savage is a Rover. However, if the incident had been the other way round we all know what would have happened. And don't forget that certain members of Arese's squad are very adept at diving and giving a crafty kick. Sometimes a flick in the face can be quite painful. Only Robbie can know if that particular flick was. And personally, I don't blame him at all for his reaction. -

There was an unpleasant incident on MGP when an Arse player (can't remember who ) came up behind him, put an arm round his neck and pushed him down - no card shown but had it been the other way................. Still, on the whole we did ourselves proud, if only we could finish.... Excellent report in Sunday Times (unfortunately not online), citing Bellamy as man of the match and giving Rovers much credit. -

Absolutely, Glenn, it's the whole basis of BRISA, and I'm not advocating anything else! I just feel that there are more useful things that could be highlighted and discussed other than some don't like the fact that there is a forum for the committee to deal with the day to day running of things and basic admin issues! -

roversmum replied to Paul's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
For those who are not happy with the committee (or so they seem to be saying) can I just point out that at the launch I don't recall any protest about the committee arrangements. If we want BRISA to work, it has to be started somewhere. Those who are not satisfied with the way things are being done are welcome to put their names forward at the AGM to be elected to be on the committee themselves - and I don't expect to be killed in the rush! I would most certainly hope that some members of the current 'committee' would stand and be re-elected or as Den says there would be certain chaos. The steering group/committee has worked wonders in getting this thing started and constructive critisism would perhaps be more useful rather than "I want to know everything - next you'll be wanting to know what colour underpants Scotty is wearing and perhaps Paul should be putting every cough and sneeze in the minutes . Could I just mention common sense here? Things are as open as they possibly could be. Please give the committee credit for what they are doing - they are in it because they love Blackburn Rovers and for no other reason. -

As usual when opposing fans come up with these clever remarks, they forget that the percentage of the population of the small town of Blackburn who attend Rovers matches is way way higher in proportion than the percentage of fans attending a big city club. Still, why let that get in the way of a good dig at someone? And as for letting other clubs have the whole of the Darwen End - well it brings us in a nice bit of extra cash, thank you very much - and as you point out we've a nice big stadium so why not?! -

Noticed that Graham Liver was still doing the half-time draw, heard him mention that Beamo was still poorly with a bad back. Well he certainly can't blame the aforementioned bad back on assisting the blonde maid with the draw trolley!
