  1. To be fair, Leeds fans are pretty loyal considering the length of time they spent in the Championship. A lot of that loyalty comes from their success in the 70’s and 90’s. You can’t doubt their getting behind the team. On the point of sitting with the home fans I recall being in the South Stand when Shearer scored a hat trick. Sitting on our hands without saying a word ensured a safe exit at the end of the game.
  2. Any chance this game is gonna get called off? Tipping down here in Huddersfield
  3. Glad you managed to watch some of the game Barry. The second half was certainly worth the perseverance with Rovers TV, which I agree is very clunky and needs an overhaul (Oh wait, haven’t we just had one? )
  4. Maybe I’m biased because he sent me a get well message when I was in hospital after recovering from a heart attack but I really think he could be an absolute star with the right management. Of course he needs to be prepared to do what the manager wants.
  5. He’s not average. IMO he’s one of the most talented Rovers players. Just needs to be used right.
  6. Buckley should never have been allowed to go on loan but clearly JDT doesn’t fancy him. He needs to come back in Jan or sooner if possible!
  7. Don’t know exactly what kicked off at the end of the game that had Szmodics and Travis coming across to confront some fans as we were leaving the Riverside but suspect they didn’t appreciate the abuse they were getting. That’s bang out of order when players are giving their all for the team and the fans.
  8. Don’t think I met him personally but Birdy was always a fixture both home and away. Rovers were obviously a massive part of his life (as it is for many of us fans) but he took supporting Rovers to the highest level. Well done that man! RIP Hope the club put on something special for him on Friday night
  9. Who do you define as being the docile Ewood support? Don’t we have the Fans Forum and We AreThe Rovers where these issues can be raised with the club? Apparently not!
  10. The club is in big trouble. Venkys clearly aren’t going to fund it at the level they have been doing. Our peer clubs at this level have much bigger revenue streams so will be able to attract better players. Slippery slope unless we can keep finding players to sell on for decent fees.
  11. We will always have a club don’t worry about that! However, it may not be a Premier or Championship one unfortunately.
  12. So why is the Riverside closed for all Cup games? Why has no one kicked up a fuss about that? I’m sure some would rather see it closed altogether without a thought for those who like to sit there, because it’s not in keeping with the rest of the ground. Well, guess what, there must have been financial reasons for not redeveloping that part of the ground.
  13. I get it. Some folk want to sit where they usually sit, as do I. The point I am making is that this should not put off anyone who wants to watch the game. If anyone is not going because they can’t sit where they normally sit then that is their decision. Fact is, this game against Cardiff is not attractive and the club don’t want to incur the extra costs associated with opening the BBE. As for the previous well documented issues relating to how the club is being run since Venkys took over, well we know they have made a complete mess of things but what can we do if they won’t sell up?
  14. I don’t wish to get into the slagging off of Steve Waggott or anyone else involved in running the club as I’m not close enough to understand the issues. However, if a financial decision has been taken not to open the BBE how should that put off those who want to watch the game from attending? I usually sit in the Riverside and if I wanted to attend (which I won’t be) I would be more than happy to buy a ticket in the JW.
  15. My nerves can’t stand too many performances like that but hey, the number of chances we are creating is going to result in smashing some team one of these days. Some patchy performances from individuals but the fight and determination is getting us over the line. Telalovic doesn’t look fit but has some talent. If Wharton had put that pass through for Szmodics we would all be crowing about it. Give the lad a few games in the U21’s and cup matches and he could come good. Adam Wharton plays too close to the edge for comfort. He sometimes wants too much time on the ball which you just don’t have at this level, but he will get better. I thought Moran looked very poor today but then he came on when Boro werein the ascendancy and struggled to get forward.

  17. There is obviously an issue with Buckley and JDT which has pushed Buckley down the pecking order. Fair enough, it happens sometimes. Clearly it was felt best for all parties for him to go out on loan. That doesn’t sound like he was an integral member of this seasons squad so JDT shouldn’t be moaning about it now.
  18. If JDT wanted Buckley that badly then he should have played him. How can he be missing someone who never played
  19. Gallagher was put on to do the hard work down the left side where we were increasingly being exposed. Personally I thought he did a cracking job.
  20. So disappointing after defending well for so long with 10 men. Then taking the lead only to lose to 2 well worked goals when the defence and midfield had started thinking we could redeem Pickering's sending off. This is a decent Hull team but, like Rovers, lack that cutting edge. With 11 men I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t have lost. The players worked their socks off and deservedly got a round of applause at the end. With a couple of additions in the right positions we don’t have anything to worry about. Observations on some players. Dolan - spent most of his time on the pitch adjusting his hair. He’s not worth a start. Leonard - we can’t afford to start him every game Hedges - best game for a while, works hard, just wish he could be a bit cleverer when crossing Travis - kept the team going against the odds. A good captain’s performance Szmodics - didn’t feel he should have been subbed. Please don’t ever throw a Rovers shirt to the floor again. Gallagher - worth a start. Changed the game Ennis - doesn’t look fit but did everything that Leonard didn’t. Unlucky not to score Pickering - what else can I say. Brittain looked like he’s nicked your left back spot
  21. Had a few hours and a couple of drinks to digest the result. No way we deserved a draw. Until they had a man sent off we were under the cosh. Outfought, outscored and out of it. Ollie Rathbone would walk into our team. Swap him for Travis any day. And I’m not just saying that cuz his dad once bought me a pint! Why on earth do we spend an age passing (and pissing) around at the back? Trying to make sure everyone gets a touch before we get into their half. Rotherham had us sussed. Get it in the air and most of our team will never see the ball! With the odd exception we were too cautious. Wharton playing like he’d not touched a ball for 6 weeks and too easily dispossessed. Dolan never once got past his defender to get a cross in. Turning back every time, but then he doesn’t have the pace and relies on trickery followed by the easy ball back. Travis is so frustrating. Yes, he’s not the most technically gifted but he can do a job yet he spends half the match being wound up by the opposition and reacting in a way that stops him doing his job. It’s no coincidence that when he has been subbed we seem to be more effective. Szmodic, by his own admission had a stinker but he was determined to make up for it. So pleased for him, particularly with his second goal and celebration. Overall, it’s clear that we need someone on the left, is Siggurdson that man? But most of all we need some big guys, who don’t get easily bullied.
  22. A really good listen to a CEO who seems to have a good handle on what it takes to be a successful football club. As he says, Ipswich are in the enviable position of being a one county club and guaranteed a much bigger income than most in the Championship but as he also says “ it’s not how much money you have, it’s how wisely you spend it”. I fear the Championship is going to be extremely competitive this season and we could well end up regretting not really going for it last season.
