  1. The one that springs to mind for me is one of the greatest goalkeepers I have had the privilege to have seen. Roger Jones.
  2. Mike, I like the look of that side also. I think at Ewood it would be great but away, when we have to dig in defensively then unfortunately I believe we would get absolutely trashed. We need something or someone, may be more than one, who is prepared or has the ability to defend. In the line up you propose, only Bennett from midfield would be capable.
  3. They lost in the cup final in 1964. If we had not had an away day at Oxford, we would and should have won it that year. We were a much better team than West Ham who won it.
  4. If all this is true and there is no reason to think it isn't, then I would ask why Rovers didn't snatch West Brom's hand off when they offered15 million?
  5. They did have a bad day but defending in second half was woeful which was concerning. Yes we where chasing the game but when we went 3 at the back, it just doesn't or didn't look right against this Bristol team.
  6. Thanks, I understand what you are saying. My initial worry is that their subsidiary, Venkys London Ltd. the debt will be in Stirling in which case the debt when converted to Rupees will have increased significantly virtually overnight. If debt is in Rupees then all well and good because it will have reduced overnight. just a little worried as this is Venkys?
  7. For the accountants among us. What do you think the implications are of the crashing Rupee?
  8. I see the Daily Mail (Daily Facist) are linking us to Chapman.
  9. Agree with that. I don't think he is at that level and have doubts he ever will be. Don't get me wrong, he certainly has vision and can pick a pass, his ball control is very good and defenders find it difficult to rob him of the ball but the one thing he has not got is that explosive pace over the first 5 yards and that cannot be coached into him. At premiership level against quicker and better defenders, I have my doubts. Hope I am proved wrong for his sake.
  10. Yes, agree. However I do think Rodwell will benefit from our dressing rooms, all in it together, attitude. Bennett will make him fit. That guys contribution both on and off the pitch cannot be underestimated. IMO of course. Under those circumstances, I think his attitude and mentality will be fine but is his fitness up to it? As he has not played very much over the last few years. We are going to find out and hope it is ok because potentially this signing could be incredible?
  11. Once had a dream that Hunt, Lunt and Cunningham where playing mid field for Burnley.
  12. I think it would be worth a gamble. Yes some injuries but looking at his career he got caught up in a big money move from Everton to City which didn't suit him. I don't think it would have taken place if Everton didn't need the money at that time. He was moved on to Sunderland which, let's be honest, is a basket case club and yes he lost his way and I am not condoning him going AWOL but can understand. i think he deserves another chance and TM may have the right philosophy to bring the best out of him. Interested to hear what Tyrone's mate has to say, when he wakes up?
  13. Bell is still learning his trade. He is still young and yes sometimes he looked poor but other times looked really good. Cut the boy some slack. He has pace to burn and he will improve. Maybe I am a little bit older than you but I remember Tommy Hutchinson giving Kieth Newton an absolutely torrid time at Bloomfield Road but look how that turned out. Both Bell and Nyambe will be ok.
  14. Credit to you Phil, awesome supporter! By the way, congratulations and I wish you every happiness!
  15. Chaddy, I agree with what you say but if we sign Brereton at the sort of money being banded about then I would expect he will be first choice, if not then Venkys will certainly have something to say. I also expect Nuttall to go on loan, as he has potential. Samuel, unfortunately is not good enough. That being the situation, I just don't understand the necessity to sign Brereton as Armstrong and Graham would be extremely upset being second and third choice behind a 19 year old. TM may have a different view but to date he has played one up top and currently that must be Graham.
  16. Thank you Islander. At least there is some money there, but Venkys???
  17. No Chaddy I didn't hear it, as it's difficult to pick up Radio Lancs in Somerset. Please let us know what was said, just for those out of ear shot? Thanks
  18. So next signing due on page 550. Come on lads and lassies, so much work to be done by Thursday!
  19. The model we need is a Huddersfield where you have a brilliant scouting system and trust in the research your recruitment team does. Essentially cannot argue with that. However in my opinion the modal we need is the same one as when Venkys took over, that is before certain agents pulled the purse strings and look where it ended. Financial fair play because they allowed themselves to be shafted by said agent even bringing in the desperate manager because it suited their so called modal and they were so arrogant they couldn't see it. Excuse the rant but as you say we are now back to scouting systems but Venkys owe this club big time. Their mismanagement has cost both them and us but the responsibility lies with the owners, as they make all decisions. They need to sort it!
  20. Trust you Chaddy? I am on a cruise ship mid Mediterranean and looking at this is costing me an arm and a leg in WIFI charges and now you say no more today!
  21. Our owners, sadly, have no vision. That comes through in their attitude to their own businesses mainly producing and selling chicken. When they took us over, they had the opportunity to really make inroads into that market in the UK using us as a vehicle, they could have kicked KFC into the long grass if done correctly. However, they looked over the precipice and looked back again as they only saw the outlay and not the rewards. This is often the result when the money/ company has been inherited. Unfortunately we have been and appear to be expendable in this process. What I can't understand is why they don't get rid of us even though it will cost because all they will get long term is aggro. I presume it is in their psychology as in the main Indians, certainly those born into a certain caste, can be and are quite arrogant.
  22. My view, which I know isn't always popular. Pre season is all about getting formations right and getting match fit. Results are irrelevant. As some have reminded us about our pre season in Championship year, it wasn't great with some of us wondering why have we spent 3 million on this guy Shearer as he was hauled off in pre season. I believe Mowbray is savvy enough that he will see what we lack. Playing the likes of Liverpool is better than playing Carlisle etc.. were we would have won, getting into a false sense of security like last year. All of us need to be patient.
