  1. By expansive ,he means stretched. Ayala seems like another Mowbray signing who doesn't fit the way we play.
  2. Wagner, Pearson, Keane or maybe even Hughes. I don't like the guy,but maybe Cook? At least we would battle. No thanks Pulis. No doubt it would be someone extremely underwhelming though,at best. They have previous form.
  3. Their second goal was so weak, I don't think he could even complain
  4. Horrible game. We were useless. I knew we would lose, even after equilising. Rubbish, rubbish marking for the goals. Armstrong, Rothwell, Holtby all useless. Johnson and Gallagher worse than useless for the goals. Brereton was ok. Dack non existent when he came on, sad to see. What is Mowbray babbling on about re Travis? He signed the rest of the gutless wonders. What's he doing to Davenport? Ridiclous. Things have gone very bad, very fast. I think a lot of owners would pull the plug on the manager after last night.
  5. Couldn't see that happening
  6. Armstrong has to score that. Not easy,but....
  7. Don't get it. Lethal shot from distance. I suppose it's hard to maintain
  8. We don't know that any of that will happen. Dack and Armstrong are under contract and worth a considerable amount. I think every club is going to feel the pinch over the next few years. We might actually be in a better position than many if the owners continue to support the club financially. That's the unfortunate reality. I don't think waiting til the end of the season is that long anyway, barring a complete collapse.
  9. Because I would say we are still in contention and my preference is for giving a manager the season to fulfill his target. I know the trigger approach works at times, but we are another Coyle away from getting into serious trouble. We have some excellent palyers, but so have other clubs who have been dragged down there. We don't look far away to me either, I think Mowbray is holding a bit of that together. I obviously want us to be the play offs and the longer we are outside, the worse it looks. A few wins gets you right up there though and I hope we will be in the mix at the end. I have rarely if ever thought Mowbray has lost the players. If I saw that, then I would think he should go.
  10. When was the last one? Probably back in September? I was wondering why he has stopped doing that
  11. Great to see Brereton back. Douglas had to be dropped. I would say he is shellshocked by how badly things have gone for him. Could be gone in January. Hard tis we how he could get back in the team now. That could be 4-2-3-1. Hopefully we see another good performance from Trybull, particularly if it's 4-3-3. What has happened with Johnson scoring goals actually??
  12. As are about 50-60% of them in the league
  13. You could be surprised. The list of shite that has moved for far more is a long one
  14. Because the season isn't over yet and we have our best players to come back. How is the balance of risk v reward worth it when they have never made a decent managerial appointment apart from getting lucky with Bowyer and Mowbray? Nether of whom were signals of intent. Do you have that much faith in Waggot and or the owners to make a good appointment? Good for you.
  15. Bog standard players go for big money these days. It's a long list. He's still young enough, English , will improve more, has played a lot of games at this level. £5 million gets you very little in English football for the last few years.
  16. Agreed, but also better quality from those on the field would help.. Nyambe got in some good crossing positions the last game and was very wasteful. It isn't just a case of it being easy to break these blocks. Stoke did the same thing to Boro the game after us. Wba did similar against Liverpool and got a point. You need your quality players on the field to unlock these defences.
  17. The players aren't doing enough to break down the deep blocks we are coming up against. Dack did more in his cameo the other night than Holtby has done in weeks. We are pedestrian and predictable when teams park the bus. Dack and Brereton will give us another string in our bow.
  18. He would be better in a front 2. Clearly where he is paying now isn't doing him any favours. Time will tell. I reckon we will at least recoup what we paid for him.
  19. Does it matter who the next manager is? Ya obviously, you remember Owen Coyle? If you told me we were getting Bilic, I would be all for it. As I said though, they have yet to make a managerial appointment of any intent. Also, to say Mowbray "definitely isn't working out" , isn't entirely accurate. I would say it definitely wasn't working out if we were in a relegation battle.
  20. He was a completely different player playing centrally with actual wingers. Hence why he scored 12 goals.
  21. Therein lies the crucial issue. Who's next? As I said in another thread, they have yet to make a managerial appointment of intent. Overall they got pretty lucky with Mowbray. A wrong appointment there and we could still be in league 1. I don't buy this "best squad, it was easy" stuff. Many teams with the perceived best squads didn't go up. It's impossible to guess who they will appoint, up to the very last second.
  22. Ya, for sure it's the great unknown, but surely they see the Premier League as the only way to recoup their losses? Otherwise why would they even care what division we are in? To be fair they have supported him and kept the academy going, so I would think(and hope) they have some ambition to push on. The issue is they don't know football and it's nuances, particularly being so far away, so these type of decisions are left to "football people" and they don't have a great track record with them. Like I think it's clear they aren't "bad" like some owners out to make a buck and get out. They have been fleeced by sharks, but do appear to be here for the long haul. At a certain point they deserve a bit of success , but ultimately that's in their hands and as I said, they just don't really get football. A managerial appointment of any actual intent has yet to happen under them. If Mowbray does go this year and with Dack now signed for a couple of more years, some good young players around, they need to make an appointment to get people excited and encourage players to stick around. I think that's why I don't even really get in discussions about "Mowbray out" ,it's pointless. I got way too invested in the Kean saga and it's just not good. They will do what they want and to this point, managerial appointments in particular, nobody has any idea what they will do.
  23. I think Mowbray was actually using the 5 subs better at the end of last season. He seems to have muddled himself up. I can only assume it's stress and pressure(not excusing it before someone accuses me of that). I know some don't think it,but I believe if he doesn't get into the play offs this year he knows he is gone. The Venkys might not be football experts ,but they don't seem to be idiots when it comes to money (initial purchase of Rovers and subsequent losses aside). They surely expect some progress. I think what's killing us is simply a combination of not taking chances and then being prone to cataclysmic individual errors at the back far too often. We are on top in so many games and we seem to miss a lot of chances. Next thing the opposition get a chance , more difficult than anything we have fashioned and bang,it's a goal. Less so in the last few games as it seems teams know to defend deep and pack the defence as we don't have the trickery a la Dack to unlock a defence or the physicality to get the ball into the box from decent crossing positions. Mowbray clearly doesn't have the confidence or whatever you call it to change formations and tactics in game. His tactic is bring on more attackers and let them do what they want. The problem is we are still predictable doing that and the likes of Holtby doesn't do enough. Dack did more the other day offensively than Holtby had in 5 game I would say. Rothwell can do it, but not often enough. Our attackers are all very similar too, small and fast. I don't know what to say about Gallagher other than I feel sorry for him. I'm very interested to see how we go with our best players on the field.
  24. Very shocking. What an excellent high flying big man he was. He had clearly slowed down a bit in AEW with the high flying stuff, but was given the opportunity to show he also had it in abundance as a presence in the ring and on the mic. I wonder what happened? It's all very vague. Was it literally that sudden? Scary stuff at his age. So young. It's rare you se such unanimous praise for someone accross the board. He must have been a great man. RIP.
