  1. Brentford is a dangerous comparison to make in defense of Mowbray. They have wheeled and dealed and are actually in profit. How many of Mowbrays signings will turn a profit? Dack and Armstrong obviously, but that's probably it. Then you have the £12 million men.
  2. Cost. Cunningham was the best we could get after spending the budget on Gallagher.
  3. Now if we had a "player of the restart", you could make the case for Travis.
  4. Going off some of the videos on Instagram from the players today, it looks like they are happy enough to have the pressure off. Anyone surprised??
  5. Ya, that's it. There has been no previous behaviour from the owners that would suggest they would make an appointment that would improve us, particularly in the current climate. Then would say Mick McCarthy work for them? Mowbray keeps saying in the last week or 2 he has no idea of the direction we are going in financially, let alone actual budgets.
  6. How is Travis winning this poll? It really shows the type of player that Rovers fans love! Armstrong was player of the year, all day, no debate.
  7. Ya, 100%. Could be another Coyle/Kean style appointment and everyone knows, they don't fire quickly.
  8. At least he is left footed. Having Bennett or JRC there only led to play being slowed down for them to check back inside.
  9. I think fans are just afraid and apprehensive about how wrong things could quickly go if they got the next appointment wrong. I mean it is a genuine fear.
  10. A top manager would have gotten the players heads down to deliver 2 positive results against Wigan and Barnsely.
  11. And ye know what, I wish someone would ask him straight out does he think he is an idiot for spending £12 million on Brereton and Gallagher. Because clearly those moves have been unmitigated disasters to this point.
  12. I think he will always find a way to limit us. He has his strengths, for sure, but the weaknesses he has don't seem fixable. He said the other day that he thinks players got carried away with the talk of the play-offs after beating Bristol city. That's on nobody but him. A top manager simply does not allow that to happen, even if bigger prizes are involved. It doesn't reflect well on our lot. Getting carried away with themselves before they had achieved anything. Mowbray gave the same "excuse" last season. How can anyone expect us to go up under him if his team can't even deal with the excitement of being just outside the play offs, let alone actually in the play off positions. Automatic promotion? He wouldn't even prepare the team for that outcome. We could sneak into the play offs with him, but at this point I don't see any way we will go up under him.
  13. Ya and Bennett tweeted that he was gutted that we "just missed out on the play-offs". We are 12th, out of contention with 2 games to play and could still finish 15th. If that's his idea of "just missing out" , it probably explains why we are so shit at crucial times. This bunch want an easy ride, where being mediocre is acceptable because "we gave it a good shot". Certain managers would not accept that.
  14. I have seen enough of Samuel since the return to conform that he isn't good enough. Gets pushed off the ball far too easily for someone his size and isn't great with the ball. He could be decent in League 1 for someone, but I don't think he would ever get in double figures at that level for a season. If possible , the following players should go. I'm not including returning loan players. Williams, Bell, Samuel, Bennett, Graham and Johnson. That would free up considerable wages. I would keep everyone else , bring in some youth like Wharton, Butterworth and Vale to replace those guys. Then spend the rest on a good goalkeeper, left-back and centre half. I mean as good as we can realistically get.
  15. I am very disappointed thinking back now that Williams and Bell played no part since the return. Is it just unfortunate that our 3 left backs missed most of the season? I'm including Cunningham in that. It seems to be at this stage Williams is turning into one of those lads who seems to be injured more than fit.
  16. This is the thing, if he was to be reviewed from a pure business/HR sense, he could point to his record and say we have improved every season since he took over. An owner who is tuned into football, could see the situation is more nuanced than that.
  17. Small margins. If Reid wasn't so injury prone, we could have gotten 10 million for him. Ferguson really disappointed me. I had high hopes.
  18. Lol. Would you say that to his face?
  19. Does Chapman only play the last game of the season?
  20. Have you seen it? He has managed 2 teams at this level and won the division with 1 of them. No doubt he comes with risks, but if it clicks for him somewhere I think he could do well in the short-term. Samuel has proven himself to be rubbish. Have you watched him play this season? What would you say his strengths are?
  21. I think someone like Keane would get an extra 10% out of this bunch, if not more. They are far too comfortable now. Dack will come back all guns blazing, but can't help but feel he will get bogged down by the other albatrosses Any word on the European scouting? Probably not happening now. Going off some comments, I think Mowbray isn't very happy with the lack of communication for Pune.
  22. Keane and Johnson would be mouth watering. Get Robbie Keane and the Duffer in too. I'm not a Keane acolyte like many over here, but I would be happy to see him given a go. It would be interesting at least.
  23. Duff made some comments in that podcast I put up yesterday about Ranieri talking about "building and solid foundations"when he arrived at Chelsea. Duff said something along the lines of "well you better win something too, because you won't get the time". The next season he was sacked and Mourinho brought in. What are our targets here? Is there any risk of repercussions if they aren't met? Doesn't seem to be the case.
  24. A fresh start would be good. I would get McCarthy in, about 10 years later than we should have. Someone else will go for him otherwise and he will more than likely do what he does and exceed expectations at this level. Mowbray had everything set up for him this season to do well and again we capitulated. Dacks injury was a blow, but the way the games fell for us, particularly since returning, I can't help but feel we missed a great opportunity. Especially after beating Bristol city firs game back. Mowbray has said that he thinks the players got carried away with talk about the play-offs after that, didn't he say the EXACT same thing last February after our atrocious run? The man doesn't seem willing or able to learn. Stubborn stuck in his ways and over complicates things needlessly. He starts players when he shouldn't and leaves them out when he should, far too much for my liking.
