Summer Transfer Window 2019
Bigdoggsteel replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
And why shouldn't talk move to them? They are basically like two new signings. Why can't that be said? Still want 5 more, but no point pretending those 2 lads don't exist. -

Again, I never said he should start or has played well defensively. I said he has a great set-piece delivery. I don't think many apart from yourself disagree with that. -

Chapman can be looked at as Conways replacement, no? Downing barely played last season, but we do need a centre half, so that's 1 signing. Hopefully Davenport can go someway to replacing Reed. So, that leaves us with 4 more signings to make. Plenty of room to improve there. Sigh It seems whoever we sign now will be met with negativity. No matter who or what positions we sign, some will find a problem. Like bringing the Smallwood "issue" into things. He barely featured second half of the season, but the way some are talking you would swear he is 1st choice or something. Double sigh -

He scored 3 last season didn't he? Hey I,m not making a case for him to start, just pointing out his set pieces aren't flukes -

While I agree his defensive performances slipped, I think it is harsh to say those corners were flukey. He has a great set-piece delivery. -

We are 2 down from last year and I am being generous counting Conway and Downing as 1. 5 new signings hoped for, not a "couple" why can't people just stick to what is actually being said and not filling in between the lines themselves or picking certain words or phrases from quotes for exaggeration? -

4 defenders and a goalkeeper? Plus midfielders and attackers? So basically a new team? So what you talking, 9-10? He said we might sign loans, frees , or players for fees, yet you focus on the loans and frees part. Did you not think we would sign any loans or frees? So, you were thinking 9-10 players for fees? Wow, no wonder you are ending up disappointed I am half pulling your leg, the "might have players to make an impact" comment is worrying. -
Very bad management of the jersey launch. Completely unnecessarily long wait

I would say there is 0% chance Travis won't start the first game if fit. Smallwood won't even be here -

That's what I thought, so I was going to play Persona 4 on the Vita first. I didn't though, so not sure I ever will now. Cheers, good tips. Ya, I am at the place in the first palace where you need to defeat the 2 enemies to get the "eyes" so that I can stop the big blades going across the bridge. I think I am close to the end, however it is Sunday evening and the enemy bar is at around 65% (I got turfed out last night when it got to 100% and I died in the story line and it put me back a week). I will reload my save though and try get to the last bit. Hopefully I can do it, because I did so much in that week, I really don't want to go back that far. I should have more saves, but only have 1. I didn't go into the palace until the 28th of April. I thought I could knock it out in a day or two, big mistake, I should have went earlier. Typical me leaving things til the last minute. -

Lads, Lenihan. No g. I would say there is no chance we could sign Hanley for less than £6 million. Talk of £3-4 million is pie in the sky. He is a top Championship defender and in the prime of his career. -

Persona 5 is absolutely off the walls. I had no idea what kind of game it was. A social simulator/ RPG. I love it. I am almost finished the first palace. What I really like is the humour and the time management. Looking forward to finishing this palace and continuing the story line. I think I actually prefer the real world parts, although the variety is good. What a unique game -

So apparently the Downing deal is close Do supporters of other clubs act so negatively straight off the bat about a free transfer, or is just our fans? I could understand it if the window closed tomorrow.... -

£6.5 million for those 3 was great business, although if Mowbray signed McGoldrick I am sure he would have been slated on here for "signing a crock". I read Brighton were one one of the biggest spenders the season they went up. Didn't they only avoid FFP punishment because they went up? Pretty sure that was the case Look, some great managers there. Mowbray has put the pressure on himself to deliver this season, so hopefully he meets his target. -

What would the consensus be if we signed Hanley for £6 million. Yes or no? -

He was one of our better performers when he moved to centre half near the end of the season. Mulgrew was far worse at centre half. That being said, I hope we have a starting 11 replacement for both of them come day 1 and I would be happy with Hanley. -

We were definitely in for McGinn, I think Waggott or Mowbray even said something along the lines of "the lad that went to Villa" -

With a "competitive" budget we can be competitive, like we were last year, barring the horrific run. Of course there are teams who go up without spending the most, but if you look at the top 6 every season, more often than not the teams in it have spent more than those out of it. Last season those in it , spend as much if not more than we did. The majority spent a lot more. Small margins in this league and going off where we were when Mowbray took over, he is improving things. Going off your last paragraph so seeing as "tables aren't decided by budgets" , couldn't the argument be made that Mowbray did a great job coming top 2? You know, we weren't familiar with the league and budgets are irrelevant so.... -

July will be crazy I reckon. The concern for us is the later players sign, the less likely it is that they will start.... That combined with our tough start does concern me. We cannot and should not start the first game with a defence containing both or even one of Bennett and Mulgrew. If we have 10 million to spend again this summer, just spend 5-6 million of it on a top class Championship centre half. It's absolutely crucial. -

20 in total or 20 between both divisions? Seems very few If it's 20 between both, Salford will be shown a minimum of 5 times. -

Summer Transfer Window 2019

I suppose the important distinction is whether the £5k extra would have put them on more than our highest earner, or whether it was just £5k extra we refused to pay out of principle. If we wouldn't pay McGinn ,for example, £5k more, but still within our wage structure, that would be a bad call, if it broke the wage structure and that was why we wouldn't pay it, well then it's a different conversation. Maybe Mowbray is sugar coating it as well is saying players decisions just came down to others paying more money. Lets just say all things were equal in terms of offers from us, Villa and Celtic. Where would you put us on that list in terms of attractiveness to a player? -
We played Prague in Austria last year. I don't recall anyone being overly excited about that.

Ya, we do not want to have a slow start. Could be in trouble from the get go and playing catch up, at best
