https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17485424.rovers-boss-there-can-be-no-complaints-if-i-make-changes/ God almighty I hope this doesn't mean Williams could replace Mulgrew. The thoughts of Williams and Rodwell makes me very, very scared. Saturdays team could be very interesting. I'm not going to make it over unfortunately, but Ifollow is set and ready to go. 12 o clock kick off is a nice start to the day

No doubt we should not have conceded that first goal against Rotherham. It was pathetic. I wouldn't expect Raya to have came for that, no. He was flat footed though, as you shouldn't be letting in a header like that. Their player did well, but you can't generate huge power on a header from a throw
-
Ya, that is true. I may be mistaken here, but isn't it something people say about Fergie that he would never, ever publicly criticize a player I personally think good managers take the blame on themselves too. I recall Wagner doing it a lot at Huddersfield. Klopp does it a bit(although he has shown glimpses of Steve Kean type behavior too in blaming the wind) and Pep certainly does it a lot. I suppose as in all walks of life the better you are doing and the more comfortable you are, the easier it is to be self critical publicly. Mowbray is on thin ice career wise. If he comes out and days 2 "ya , I did X and Y wrong" then he ends up getting sacked anyway. His comments could be used as a stick to beat him when going for another job. He was on the scrap heap for a long time. He certainly doesn't want to end up back there. At least I hope that's whats behind his behavior and not just that he isn't aware of his failings.
-
I'd say he is probably blue in the face doing the private critiquing. We are on such an awful run, I think he had to do something different
-
I do recall him calling Mulgrew out although I don't think he named him , something like "players who should know better" So, ya, I think you are onto something there
-
He should be coming for more. I have said it before though and I will say it again, I think his height is a huge liability. He has a small frame and if you have a player like Aiden Flint competing with him, who will come out on top? Technically Raya should as he can use his arms, so say if Flint is 6 foot 3 and Raya is around 6 I think, then when you add Rayas arms he should be able to reach higher. The problem is that is Flint stands his ground and commands the space, Raya isn't going to move him. Most of the top keepers are at least foot 3. So it's not just height, but the strength and size that comes with being taller. Did a quick google there. I can't find a single Premier league keeper who is less than 6 foot 3, apart from LLoris at Spurs who is 6 foot 2. He could get stronger of course, but would that mean sacrificing reflex speed?
-
Yes, indeed. They owe him big time for his loyalty and frankly they have let him down. I think that's why he is so frustrated.
-
I think he is right to call the players out. In fairness he has done the complete opposite to a fault up to now. The players were on holiday camp with no fear. It's clear that happened. Mowbray needs to do somehting because the reality is he does not want to get fired, not a good look. That would leave him looking at league 1 again or maybe lower championship. So if he ended up there and got sacked again, his career resurgence since coming here would be back at square one. He needs to be ruthless to save his career at this level. Simple as.
-
I thought it was a bit odd myself, but really is suppose it was aways going to be Graham wasn't it?
-
If you just take the Premier league era into account, Swindon are a bigger club than Preston.
-
They might be bigger, but they certainly aren't better. The trophy cabinet tells that story. They had a great 19th century though.
-
Not fair. I don't think any fan has accepted mediocrity. They are hoping that Mowbray does what he has promised to do and again delivers success in the Championship. Bowyer was great here, but he didn't have Mowbrays past success in the championship or budget. The Mowbray/Bowyer comparison doesn't add up for me
-
Add King and arguably Cairney to that list and you have 4 good to brilliant Championship players

I hope it's a photoshop and not our new training kit ? Ya, total PR stuff on their end over there. Kind of crazy that this is the most we have heard from him in years

Summer Transfer Window 2019

What gave that away apart from the article practically saying it ? Ah, it's harmless really and if we somehow manage to attract a tiny percentage of the Indian market, we will be doing very well. -
Ya, one quote actually said "I'm not big into formations or tactics" when asked about our leaking of goals. That its about "whats in the players bellies" OK, that's fair enough. A lot of our goals were conceded due to individual errors, a lack of leadership and a bravery deficit. However, I believe the players aren't afraid of Mowbray and that is a reason for this slump. They don't fear him giving them a bollocking, let alone dropping them. So therefore I think they sometimes think "nah, I don't think I'll header that". Mulgrew and Bell the biggest culprits. I don't think Rayas mistakes are down to a lack of bravery or fear of the manager, I just don't think he is big or physical enough to command his area and that his issues are now compounded with nerves. Don't get me started on his kicking, apart from to say it's atrocious. So let's just say Mowbray replaces those who are under performing, will that fix things? I'm not convinced. I think there are issues with our coaching and fitness.

He has certainly backtracked on that , now saying he wouldn't throw them in.
-
Not sure he is using it as an excuse. Obviously he shouldn't have let Downing go in January and I think all of us agreed on that at the time. However our defensive collapse since has been so extreme, that I think all he is is saying is that he wishes he could sign new players now. Putting aside the lack of recruitment in summer and January defensively, which we all agreed was bad, I don't think anyone expected Raya and Mulgrew to be quite so spectacularly bad. I suppose the problem is that we could all see that Mulgrew and Lenihan both played better with Downing ,than with each other. Lenihan played well with Rodwell, but that the most incompatible partnership is Mulgrew and Rodwell, which is basically what we are stuck with now,

Summer Transfer Window 2019

On the ball with those comments. I would be happy if we spent £12 million or whatever our budget is on a centre half, experienced keeper and striker. Nothing else. Loans can buff out the rest. Those 2 positions are absolutely key. Graham is great, but if we move to a new style of play, we will need a more mobile striker. The thing is when I look at the squad below, Mowbray will have to move on a lot of players; Smallwood, Bennett, Williams. Specifically players he really likes in Bennett and Smallwood. I look at where that would leave us then and I think "is the squad good enough for promotion under Mowbray?" They will need to be some signings. However there is a really exciting, young nucleus of a team there. Player of the season 2019

I have subscribed to every team in the championships youtube page, so I always watch the highlights. the only defences I would say are definitely worse than ours are Bolton and Ipswich. Villa have looked awful at times too, but they probably just edge us. -

I would say Mowbarys comments about replacing those who aren't performing is his way of attempting to motivate a collection of players who have knocked off for their holidays. You are playing for your futures here now lads -
New law changes for 2019/20 season

The rule on the penalty and the one on no attackers in the wall for free kicks are nonsense. What is the rational?
