  1. It's almost as if the Academy will be surplus to requirements...but for another day and another thread maybe.
  2. Time and results will tell. Look foward to 7th or above. Certainly saved on wages. Matchday will be interesting - so many permutations and changes. Going to be fun.
  3. RG has sold Pahsa the idea that no player should be paid above 10k a week and success (not promotion because he has stated that is not the aim) can still be achieved. Outgoings are broadly similar to income (will be if a new striker comes in) but plenty has been saved on wages, Raya money, backroom staff, SWAG etc). Agents presumably still being paid.
  4. Crossed Pasha over the liaison officer debacle?
  5. Well we have got close recently with various models and with a little more backing could have made it (but then it would seem there is a gateaway to the Rao's that doesn't even ask for said backing). Looks like we are now all lined up (!) to try the method you say above. History does not make me confident. edit But if it brings playoffs/promotion and new owners, bring it on.
  6. Not really, it would make my wife very gloomy. What I was tryng to suggest is that the trinity are on to a good thing and can spin it either way. So, if we do well under the new model, then cost reduction justified. If we don't, then they have ready made excuses. I'm beginning to see JBiz's point (on another thread) re the conundrum of the best way to get rid of the Venkys.
  7. Thanks for taking the time but I'm still a little unclear (thick!) If Vs walked away would we have to find 130m?
  8. So to be clear: those loans are owed by the club not Venkys? if the Vs left tomorrow we would have to find the loans? I thought the loans were just sitting on a balance sheet ie not crystalised yet or called in by varous banks etc.
  9. Are we? I thought they had taken out loans and various financial instruments - this figure (who knows how accurate) is not owed by the club.
  10. After some thought, I do see now what you are saying. And agreed that all efforts should be on finding new owners. Some would argue that the removal of Pasha could move this along. But I don’t see your solutions working –ie. washing our face, success with minimal funding in this division thus making us more attractive to potential buyers. -The Raos/Pasha would just be delighted that things can run along with no input. -There would still be the impediment that thus far, the Raos have rejected all offers out of hand. -There would still be the impediment that they want to recover their loss The other ways would appear to be: -Promotion, lots of cash and an exit -Adverse publicity in India or anything that makes their lives uncomfortable -Relegation, administration -Some method of the supposed 200m being written off
  11. Yeah, but no, but yeah. πŸ˜‰ (But that's how life is, complicated and good post.)
  12. Yes indeed. You never felt like it would really happen. What is interesting to me is that the new narrative is that some of those players were responsible, tired old faces who never quite got it done. There may be truth there but I find it harsh. Those same players (and respective managers) just needed some more backing. It will run and run. But the new orthodoxy in town has for now taken hold. Only a run of bad results will shift it and even then there will be plenty of voices around to step in and provide excuses. πŸ™‚
  13. I find it more awkward -it used to be in blue I think. Now hard to tell if up to date on a thread or not.
  14. Good posts. But on the point above. As I'm sure you know, it was working until promises were broken and the usual shenanigans went on. Close with JDT, close with JE, even Mowbray, all with dsysfuntion all around -not backed when it mattered. Some with plans that are remarkably similar to the new one. And so we have a volte face of sorts -money even tighter but a plan that all -well the unholy trintiy -agree to. The rest will follow (as in the best dictatorships) knowing full well the consequences of dissent. I don't really see how even further reduction in expenditure can lead to promotion but who knows? I do see that there won't be competing voices or power battles when it comes to transfers (SWAG v Pasha/RG etc) but that just means that all will accept less money spent and the mine will be in certain leagues.
  15. That's fair. But those who like the new cost downgrade (or er, the new singing from the same hymn sheet/all travelling in the same direction) are likely to say after 10, if it's not going well, that more timeis required for bedding in. It has been suggested that it doesn't matter where we end up in this league.
  16. What?.....no Lewandowski? We did everything we could....
  17. Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo all by next Monday. πŸ˜‰
  18. I’m sure there are many who share your views. I guess there will be those who feel that a football club is part of the social fabric of a town/city but increasingly, given the gentrification of the game, football has become just another commodity to be consumed like a Big Mac without thinking too much. . As for control, well I wonder why clubs hire an army of voices to manufacture and massage public opinion. And why certain fan actions at many clubs around the world have caused change. And of course there are plenty who just like β€˜debating’ –hence a lively messagboard. πŸ™‚
  19. Frankly, that is distinctly underwhelming and vague and hardly new.
  20. JDT had a plan as did JE. Achieved nothing? Right. And did it with hands tied behind backs? Expect miracles then with this new plan.
  21. Re the clearing of the old guard (who now appear to have been an impediment to success), will the agents be next?
