  1. Cracking display and a rocking Ewood. Revisionism? Pears (in particular), Markandy, Ayari, Moran, Garrett, Chrisene, Siggy, Dolan
  2. Indeed. Only worse. Even less money, more loans, more family silver sold off. And if we have any family silver to sell off (players) will the proceeds come back to find replacements? You all know the score.
  3. Fantastic win with Ewood rocking. Well done to each and every one of the lads. A fantastic performance and a great night. I see all the new positives that have been mentioned and agree. Pragmatism ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I donโ€™t see this entirely as a new revolution. More a change of emphasis. I do see some myths emerging. Two banks of 4? Really. Permanent back 3 which was often a 5. Did change later on. No passing at the back? Really? I saw plenty of playing out from the back. In fact, we did it really well (apart from Pears). No tippy tappy? We passed the ball really well last night at times. Lots of short, sharp stuff. Good movement. Those players learnt that under JDT. Brittain crossing? Well several times, he refused crossing opportunities and came back just as under JDT. Newcastle allowed us to play and our players could deal with that chess-like game. It particularly suited Moran and Buckley who you would think might get crunched more in the Championship. Ditto Chrisene (really do think there is a player in there) and Ayari. Dolan didnโ€™t go past a man but did keep the ball really well and worked tirelessly. It didnโ€™t suit Gallagher who looked very limited. And in the new emphasis (which I get is pragmatic and required) there were times when it looked primitive and ineffective. Pears lumping forward when under no pressure with Sammy waving his arms at him in exasperation. Some aimless hoofs up field. And yet, needs must in the League. A cracking night.
  4. 15 March 1960 Dobing and McLeod in extra time. In the first game, we came from 3 down to level it for the replay. The first was a dubious pen ๐Ÿ˜‰
  5. Iโ€™d hazard to guess many Rovers fans in this forum are close friends with those of burnley, Preston, ManC, Bolton, Liverpool, etc. Probably true, but you won't hear it here ๐Ÿ˜„
  6. Remember it well. Look at the energy, passing and moving -on a muddy pitch. Roy -class -lovely shimmy. Mimms May Hendry Moran Wright Atkins Sherwood Cowans Wilcox Newell Wegerle Makes you weep.
  7. Because amateur football and the lower leagues are full of muppet fans on the sidelines and neanderthals on the pitch who see aggression and violence towards refs as a norm. How many ex pros want to do it? Thought so, they aren't stupid.
  8. Court case etc -perfect excuse for we know who to cut costs further in all areas. SWAG will have to work his magic around transfer windows to spin a yarn about possible incomings only to be dashed at the last moment. Administrative error is wearing a little thin. Pehaps, court cases will just cover all broken dreams as we go on.
  9. I look forward to seeing those patterns, capable team, the ship turned around and a JE syle team next season. The clock is ticking for SWAG and the Rao's.
  10. Not the agenda anymore? More keep it tight, play percentages, old fashioned stuff and nick a draw or 1-0? Suits lazy players who can just sit in and knock balls into channels. Still, IF we nick a draw or even a 1 nil win, cue results are all that matters comments. Fair enough.
  11. Yes that's an interesting possibilty. Rao's to sell off all assets, relegation, sell to bidder who will get the whole shebang cheaper. That idea doesn't sit with the 'limbo' hypothesis though -tread water in this league forever. Edit Or tread water until such time as a young family member can become a manager...
  12. That narrative needs to be sung loudly, which is a widely helf belief among both fans and media. That is, the idea that whoever would buy us would have to stump up ยฃ200m is a myth. The Rao's would have to absorb that figure (if indeed that often quoted figure is correct in the first place.) Happy to be corrected.
  13. Soon be time for the summer transfer thread. Will the number of pages beat last year? ๐Ÿ˜‰
  14. Agree on the fact that the change is really nothing spectacular: players returning to fitness and a percentage game for now. Fine if needs must. Numpties in charge desperate to survive this season. So SWAG back in control although there could still be a power battle in the family as there has been for some time. Narrative all on track for now, fans pleased to see no tippy tappy, new project, let's kick on next season, let's give JE time, we're moving forward together......blah, yuk, yada..... SWAG will have to be back pulling strokes in the summer as the budget is slashed further and the courts come knocking. Let's see how JE goes then.
  15. You beat me to deleting it! Thought it was too good to be true ๐Ÿ˜‰
  16. League Fixtures remaining:- Cardiff Norwich Swansea Millwall Plymouth Middlesborough Ipswich Sunderland Southampton Bristol Leeds Sheffield wed Coventry Leiester
  17. Good start from the lads. Thought we would be sharper than against Brum. Wharton for Chrisene is somewhat safer to start. JDT man management was perfectly fine until the muppets above and around him did their thing.
  18. swag, broughton, suhail and silvester basically run the club.. So that's BSSS (bull shit shit shit). So even if Greg goes, we'd have SSS in charge. Treble shit so to speak. ๐Ÿ™‚
  19. Pears Hyam McFadz Wharton Brittain Tronstad Fleck Hedges Szmodics Dolan Gally Pears Brittain Hyam McFadz Wharton Dolan Tronstad Fleck Hedges Szmodics Gally Garrett/Chrisene/O'Riordan to come on as needed.
  20. Looks like the new narrative is (apart from nothing to see here, all is well), just survive this year and then we can have a โ€˜new dawn,โ€™ a reset or even a new project under JE because he will have to have at least 3 windows. And that is indeed logical and fair to give him that chance but there wonโ€™t be any new dawn because budgets will be cut further, an already weak team will be weakened, season ticket prices will rise and the Raos will be looking over their shoulders to the courts and the tax person.
  21. Think the team will be sharper than they were yesterday and at least compete more. Letโ€™s be positive (rather than logical). 3-1 Rovers. Sammy penalty, McFadz and Hyam from corners. McFadz sent off late on. ๐Ÿ˜„
  22. 7 league games in December (we won one) No Gallagher, no Dolan, no Hedges, no JRC for all of them. Hyam played in three I think. Relying on Walhstedt, Leonard, Moran, Telalovic, Siggy, Garrett, Markandy January 3 league games (Drew 2, lost 1) Gally played in 2, Pears returned for 1 Still no Dolan, Hedges, JRC came on for 1 Still relying on Walhstedt, Leonard, Moran, Telalovic, Garrett, Markandy Add to the mix the risible management of the hierarchy, a manager who had been lied to and had clearly felt badly short-changed and you have a recipe for what happened. The team looked poor yesterday with all injured players returned and a new centre back.
