  1. Can see this season going the exact same as the end of last. Have lots of possession, do next to nothing with it, concede the second the opposition put pressure on. Every year is the same under TM and the exact reason it's impossible to ever get excited. This is going to be a long season imo.
  2. Decent player but when he can only play half an hour every six weeks it's really not worth the cost imo. The modern day Vince Grella.
  3. Tbh the one thing I really don't like at first look is the half blue half white on one sleeve and full white sleeve on the other... why wouldn't you just reverse it? I'll reserve full judgement until I see it on people later but yet again a resounding "meh" on the home shirt for me.
  4. Stupid comment to make imo. Comes across as entitled when I think he's lucky that his wages or so high we can't shift him - because that's the only reason he's still here. Has been a liability at the back for a couple of years now. Not sure why he thinks he is entitled to any more from us, we took him on when he had reputation for being injury prone, and then rewarded him with a long contract no one else would have given him where he has since lost his legs and rinsed us, even when he was on loan at another local club in the same division. Can guarantee if a Prem team had come calling a couple of seasons ago he wouldn't be preaching the same line
  5. That Basel goal is still my favourite goal that I've seen live. The chest, the touch, the casual stroll forwards before just floating it into the top corner. *chef's kiss* It makes me sad to think that I'll likely never see a player of that calibre again at the club.
  6. Sevilla beat Inter 3-2 in a fairly end to end, entertaining affair, especially in the first half. Lukaku started well and won a penalty with a run from his own half 2 mins in but was pretty anonymous besides that. Luuk de Jong scored 2 very well taken headers but tbh I though it was Sevilla's wide players that made the most difference. Jesus Navas and Sergio Reguilon were much. much better than their counterparts and Ashley Young just allowed so many crosses to come in from his side. However, it wasn't without controversy as Diego Carlos possibly could have seen red for the penalty incident as whilst the last man rules have changed he didn't really go for the ball. It was him who then gambled with a bicycle kick which Lukaku diverted into his own net for the winner. Sevilla looked the better, more composed team overall though and I don't think they get the credit they deserve despite winning the trophy every time they've reached the quarters. Inter made their attacking changes (Moses, Eriksen, Sanchez) waaay to late for them to be remotely effective and have a touch of the dramatic about them.
  7. Snoozefest for the most part - both teams sloppy in defence and fairly impotent in attack. The Europa final was a much better game. Neymar was at his usual antics of jumping on the floor and screaming every time someone breathed on him so I'm happy enough with the outcome. Neymar and PSG are the embodiment of everything wrong in modern football imo.
  8. Sounds like a promising deal, though I'll wait to pass judgement properly until I see him play. However, I think we can all say that our expectations were probably much lower so hopefully this is a sign of our scouting network finally playing dividends.
  9. When we had Umbro at the end of the 00's we had some of my favourite away strips of the last 20 years - the red and black halves, the navy with the blue and white stripes down the middle and even the white on with the red shorts (even though it was a dumb colour choice). I really wish they'd put the same effort in now
  10. I think the reason people are seeing them as so tough is because we've made absolutely no effort to qualm people's fears that we're barely going to have a squad come the Bournemouth game.Hopefully a couple of signings before the end of the month in key areas will help change that perspective, though there seems to be no urgency on any level in the club at the moment.
  11. Yeah there was a year left I think. would explain why we have absolutely nothing yet On the plus side, at least we get that awful logo off our kits... it's now a question of what awful logo replaces it.
  12. What is it about the Brentford model you don't like? Surely can't be any worse than whatever system we seem to be employing to attain talent. I don't think I can take another year of having hope before blowing a 2-0 lead at Brentford to slide back down the table.
  13. The second I praise him as being better than Walton and that happens ?
  14. As non-eventful as this has been (from what I've seen so far) it is depressing to see the likes of Raya, Reed and Cairney playing in such a fixture. We waste so much talent at Ewood. Even though he has a mare in him (as shown there) Raya is lightyears ahead of Walton in pretty much every department and it still annoys me that we flogged one of our own instead of working with him just to replace him with a 4th rate loanee.
  15. Graham has been decent for us and I love the guy but certainly isn't a club legend - and let's be honest he's been made to look a lot better than he is by being about 3 levels above any other striker we've had apart from Arma in his time here. One thing I will say is that he offers us something no one else at the club has - the ability to hold the ball up in the opposition half. I can only assume we couldn't really afford to keep him (as a bench player at least) but I can't say I'm not concerned at the prospect of not having a real alternative unless Gallagher/Brereton turn into different players over the next 2 months.
  16. He's just not good enough is he. No real tactical awareness on any level, no team identity even after all this time in charge, and no ability to plug the holes in the team that were there when he took over from Coyle, especially at the back. Having moved away from Blackburn I don't get to go to nearly as many games as I would like anymore, but under TM I end almost every single game thinking "why do I bother wasting my money on this?" - his half-arsed, no width possession play is tedious to watch 99% of the time and you know full well there are at least two howlers a game to come from the defence so even with a 3 goal lead I'm never convinced we have won. Progress in most leagues begins by conceding less goals - until we have a manager willing to pay attention to our defence we will be where we are at best - but if we end of up in a position where we have to rely on Brereton and Gallagher for goals do you honestly seeing us going anywhere but down?
  17. Tbh we could Liverpool's back four and TM would find a way to make them look like a Sunday League defence.
  18. This is what happens when you have all of the ball but no real fullbacks to create width in your own half, no real wingers to create width in the opposition half, and no strikers to stretch their centre halves. Really is an ingenious approach to the game I have to admit.
  19. That fact that we splurged potentially up to £12m on 2 strikers only to then decide that we want to play a brand of football that requires we play with none should be reason enough for TM to be handed his P45 at the end of the season. Absolute madness.
  20. Well, the law of averages assumes that he'll make a difference to a game eventually
  21. You know full well if we were 3-1 up we'd be backing off and inviting pressure... what I'd give for a manager with a winning mentality
  22. At least we can stop the whole "they're crap because of the fan's negativity in the ground" talk now
  23. I have absolutely no faith that Tony a)has the balls or b) has the mental capacity to effectively overhaul this squad in the summer. He's got to go - clueless
  24. Not only a team like Derby, a team like Derby without their best player.
  25. Every single time we have the chance to take the initiative in the table we bottle it. Until TM stops trying to force Bennett intk the defence to plug every gap we have we won't contest for promotion. It's no coincidence that when we stopped playing him every game we had an upturn in form.
