  1. Really good football first 44 minutes. Everything JDT wanted in the summer was what shot us in the foot last night. A goalscorer and experience. To go 2-1 down right before half time was so naive. To get back into the game and it being practically half time just slow it down and keep the ball abit. Experience and a goalscorer see us through the first half and probably onto win it. we annoyingly have this frustration to want to play through the middle all the time in tight areas. If you look at most the times Sunderland got possession was catching us out playing through the middle. We go so narrow at times and offer zero width it is so frustrating we almost come a little predictable. We desperately need some experience. I thought Wharton was poor and Travis. Although Wharton kept being given the ball in sometime poor areas of the pitch. The 3rd goal summed it up, trying to play through the middle. TM got it right 2nd half. They didn’t really have to do anything special, get tight and compact nick the ball in the middle of the pitch when they try to play through, they also sat off a bit not allowing much space in behind in the 2nd half. some good football at times, but so naive. Also a little baffled when we played with no striker for 20 minutes when Leonard came off.
  2. Like every game in this league, will be difficult, all depends which team decides to turn up! It wont happen, but going forward I wouldn't mind seeing either Markanday or Glisenan getting some more minutes with Moran over Dolan. I feel like they've got points to prove, where as dolans had his stint.
  3. hes always come across a bit weird in his interviews.
  4. list of free transfer options: https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-transfer-free-agents-27657357 who would people go for, and who do we think wages wise would be realistic. Probably couldn't afford them, but Id be asking the questions to bertand and rose.
  5. going to be a very tough game Saturday. They are a decent side, a point at theirs would be a good one, all 3 points would be a statement. Bali Mumba would be one to watch for them, and whittaker tbf, both wingers look good. We could do with one if not both of those.
  6. If you can play full back you can play either left or right, same as a winger. Obviously its easier to play on the side your stronger foot is. But hes full back, only needs to pass the ball 5\10 yards, not asking him to do anything spectacular. I wouldn't worry too much about his crossing from full back as we aren't the type of team that put umpteen crosses in the box a game. A defenders job ultimately is to defend, hes not the worst player off the ball, if you gave him a task to defend and mark a winger, and lets say he played left back, how many wingers cut in these days? lots, him being right footed on the left will be easier for him to defend as they will becoming onto his right foot.
  7. hes a professional football player. We aren't asking a chef to play football. Wing and full back are not the hardest positions to adjust to if the player in question works hard off the ball which dolan can do. Its not like your playing a keeper outfield. Dolan would literally be playing in the same area of the pitch. he will just be more in his own half than usual. Likes of ashley young, james milner have both done it. Look at matt cash at villa, hes gone from right back to right wing on the weekend. players that can play in the wide areas can adjust to playing wing or full back if they have the right attributes. We literally barely have any full backs and we have no money, and dolans been awful on the wing. Imo it would be worth a look, it wont do any harm, hes got more experience than a kid with no experience in there, and if he plays well might be able to save some money\loan\signing on a full back and it might help refresh his rovers career.
  8. I would shove dolan full back as a trial. Hes woeful going forward. But he might just solve us a full back crisis. He has the attributes, hes got some pace, hes fit enough to get up and down, and he does fill in well tracking back. he did on sunday when brittain was out of position. Its not the hardest position in the world to play. Might also free up having to get another full back in.
  9. I was at the game yesterday. But I watched the football league show highlights on itv and noticed Watford v rovers wasn’t on the show. Does anyone know why? - Wow I must be hungover. I’m being a an idiot. The highlights show is filmed on a Saturday night 😂
  10. I know Diaz is woeful atm. But what frustrates me and it also is not probably helping him, is he is left wing. We don't want him tracking back to help because he is a danger defensivley to us! and when the ball is out wide for him hes having to cross the ball or set others up. His all round game play is dire!, but with his goal record you need that numpty in the 18 yard box. Hes woeful because hes in a position that if he cant cut in and shoot then hes pointless. Playing him out wide makes him a 1 trick pony, soon as the option to shoot is not on, you just know he will give the ball away. If you give the ball to him around the middle of the goal in the 18 yard box he might get a shot off. Dolan is lightweight,, he is not a 9. It pees me off when JDT said before the game we are playing without a striker. Are you mental?! we have a striker thats our top scorer going to la liga who you are putting left wing! Hes woeful with the ball put him around there 18 yard box so hes in around the box not giving the ball away in our own half or on the left wing when we get the ball in the final 3rd. He gave it away countless times saturday, all because he was having to pass or cross to others, not his game. Hes a dreadful footballer, but theres no doubt he can score.
  11. Can we get this trending in time for Millwall - Hayden Carter number 9, up top. Take a leaf out of Big Sams book and play someone with presence up their. Hes shown more in the box than anyone else with 1 header. Thomas Dack Szmodics Carter Get it in the final 3rd, play off him.
  12. Travis Wharton Thomas Szmodics Dolan Diaz Then dack and hedges for last 30. Dont keep putting Diaz out wide. As much as Diaz is having one atm, least he might score if down the middle, he aint a winger, and someone to play off of .
  13. For a Rovers team thats not won a game in 8 matches, and not won back to back for almost 2 months, I cant see us winning both remaining matches. Even then I can see coventry winning both there last 2 games. I also think sunderland get a minimum 4 points which means we will need to win both remaining games. Its a funny old game football and you never know, but its just not likely. All the talk of no striker to... this baffles me. We have a striker in Diaz, we have the likes of Dolan, Szmodics,, Dacks back, and hedges. Yes we are short of options, but theres 5 players there that can more than do a job and should be doing better. I dont get for the life of me why Diaz does not play down the middle rather than being stuck out wide. Its someone for Szmodics or dack to play off of, dolan can use his pace out wide, and hedges can put balls in the box for Diaz. Diaz is meant to be going to Villareal, we have a La Liga striker on the books that is being played out wide on the wing. I get hes dipped in form, but just play him in the 9 dont over complicate. CM wise we have wharton, just play him every game and let him play. I think this talk of injuries is poor, we have the players to get through 2 games. I just think its over complicated.
  14. End of the day, if we can be in the top half of the table after Christmas its not the worst. Gives us a fighting chance of making the playoffs. I think we need to accept the fact automatic is not realistic, and play offs are. Plus we should probably all of realised by now this league can be very up and down, you can have a non winning streak and a winning streak at any moment, as long as your near them play offs then that's all that matters. He also only just come on board, hes prob still learning about his squad and players. I would say its a satisfying start to the league campaign.
  15. With no dack Rothwell or hotlby now, I would stick Armstrong off Gallagher or Graham. Get the Heskey/Owen Partnership going. Travis Johnson someoneElse Armstrong Downing Gallagher Or Graham
  16. and we don't have the money to spunk 10/20/30 million+ to get us up. And if we did would you trust TM to spend it?. You can get out this league on a low budget, teams have proved that, were in a position where we need to get lucky and get promoted on the cheap. It will be a guaranteed relegation from the prem if we did go up with a poor squad (it will be like norwich), but it will help clear some debt.Thats the reality, we almost need to go up, accept relegation by staying with a cheap squad and not over spend, clear the debt from premier league money and hope we can go up a 2nd time to completely remove the debt. It sounds impossible but that's probably the only scenario if getting debt free under them.
  17. Squad - GK x 2 - Walton Leutwiler = Not good enough, could do with a keeper DF: LB x 4 Williams cunningham Bell Downing RB x 2 Nyambe Bennet = Bennet not good enough, need another RB CB x 3 Adarabioyo Lenihan Williams CM: x 3 Johnson Travis Evans = I think potentially we could get away with one of the below wingers playing in the middle with one of the above if we really needed to. MF: LW/RW: Downing Hotly Rothwell Chapman Armstrong ST: Gallagher Graham Samuel Brereton = Need a striker From the above squad, given we have a small budget, I would say most important players needed would be - ST, RB, GK. I know we need others but im going on what we urgently need through the door with a low budget. I would also get rid of - Brereton - to sell Samuel - on loan Walton - swapped with someone better. Just my opinion. I'm sure theirs many that disagree, who would others think we need to get in and who to get out, baring in mind working with a small budget so cant say we need a new 11 lol.
  18. Good result and that's all that matters. But I still think theirs still things that didn't look too great which will potentially kill us in future games. The Central midfield in the 2nd half seemed like a massive gap, it was very open all 2nd half, on another day we could have dropped points. I don't think Travis ( Im massive fan of travis btw) or Evans gave us any cover in front of the back 4. Probably not entirely their fault but as a team sometimes we need to be a bit more compact and close up the massive holes and gaps. They let runners go and there became massive gaps, luckily brentford didn't really have that quality in the final 3rd. We should have killed the game off at times but defensively i just thought we left ourselves very open and on another day we could of dropped points. We need to work on being more solid and closing up gaps especially when we have a lead. I just think game management could of been better, and if we are to pick up more points away from home then its something we really need to improve. But a clean sheet and back to back wins. So I will shut up and enjoy. But I just think if we want to improve our league position in terms of getting points away from home especially then we need to make games less open (I know it was a home game, but we pick up more points at home).
  19. I think it will need to be pretty bad for him to get the boot. It has the feeling he has all his friends in the high enough places to keep him in charge for quite a while, until it gets really bad, and im talking in the relegation places for a while. Venkys are not football people, whether we lose to Preston or even if it was a 10-0 loss to burnley they wouldn't be thinking lets sack him. It will need to be relegation looking stuff for that I think.
  20. be interesting to see what wages hes on.
  21. Could Richie Smallwood do a job at CB? He lacks any quality to play cm at this level, but he doesn't mid doing the dirty work, and CB isn't the toughest position to play as long as you can - tackle, head, hoof. Lenihan as a partner to try and talk him through a game? Maybe I'm thinking too much like Mowbary... players out of position...
  22. Every other option looks p!ss poor, hes probably got the experience to be solid their. We got enough midfielders to cover his cm position, plus gives us another opportunity to play another attacking midfielder in their. Travis has the legs to do the dirty work. Hes experienced enough to cover their I reckon. But yeh Johnson is one of our best cms, but I just dont have faith in other cbs ☹️
  23. I would go - Walton Nyambe Lenihan Johnson Cunningham Travis Rothwell Armstrong Dack Downing Gallagher I reckon 3-1 or 4-0 loss. We need to start on the front foot or we will get pummeled if we sit in.
  24. I would rather raya over this chap... hes old and poo. Not rated him for years. Seems like an easy option to me, we have struggled to afford anyone and hes going for a has been that's never going to get better but only get worse and is cheap and mowbary used to have him at WBA back in 2008. Not For Me.
