v Birmingham City (a) - 13/02/2024 19:45 KO
lraC replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well the project has changed again. Perhaps it’s changed for the worse, as playing the way we did will not add value to anyone, in fact the total opposite. Perhaps we will look back at the end of the season and deeply regret appointing Eustace, as I have a horrible feeling that the goals are about to dry up, big time. Yes, we were very exposed at the back under JDT but with the slick movement and quick interchange, we looked capable of getting a few and as already said by two different posters, that system led to Szmodics, being pretty lethal. He will not get many more if any, if we carry on playing like this and neither will Gallagher. Saturday has already become big and if we lose that, then I think the manager will be under a lot of early pressure and the fans may well be on his back, earlier than they perhaps should be. Its becoming a real concern for me and I can’t help looking down the league and seeing us slipping into the drop zone. We need a couple of wins and quickly, but I don’t see where the are coming from, especially after that performance. -
Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas

I suspect you are right about lots of fans not knowing who Suhail is. I have always been vey suspicious about him and I am pretty sure he is in regular contact with the owners and is the one who makes the key decisions on a day to day basis. I suspect for example that no signing can be approved without him giving it the green light and likewise withy a sale. I think he will continue to try to hide, so maybe putting some pressure on him, is the logical way to get some real answers. -
The accountants will deem us to be trading insolvent, so you would hope the league would step in. If not then eventually we would go into administration. How long that would take is debatable.
-
Amazing really that we don’t know who pressed the wrong button!!! The cynic in me says that the owners order that no money has to be spent on transfers, so we switch the deal to a loan. That in turn ties us into paying a much higher fee for him in the summer, by which time we could be in league one. A very convenient mistake occurs (yet again) which means that the loan does not take place and now we don’t know who made the mistake and no one has been disciplined for it or dismissed. In the meantime a meeting is held, where some players ask a few fans not to boo any more as it is putting them off.
-
Let’s hope the judge sees what’s going on and tells them that no further funding will be allowed per se. If they are still being investigated and the illegal payments are proved, then maybe it will be ruled that they cannot be trusted.
-
I have to say there are some really good posts on the last couple of pages. Whichever side of the camp you are on, all well made and thought provoking.
-
I do think they have a major problem if they do that, especially if that means that no further funds will be forthcoming. Each year, a statement is made on the accounts, whereby, it is acknowledged that the business is trading as insolvent, but the accounts are signed off, due to the guarantees of the funding being forthcoming from the owners. Once this is no longer the case, the business is then insolvent.
-
Exactly what I thought. Thanks for clarifying.
-
That’s correct. Is it a hearing about the funds as I think, or about the investigation into VH?
-
Me neither, but it seems to have stopped the hearing about the release of funds, whatever it was.
-
Exactly what I thought too.
-
I stand to be corrected if that's the case, but from what I understood, the owners have to go to court every 3 months to get permission to send funds over to the club. The last one was done in November, just before my meeting with Steve Waggott, who was at pains to tell me that he had to provide a full breakdown of exactly what the funds were being used for. He also went on to tell me that the funds would be sufficient to keep everything paid until February, by which time another hearing would have taken place and he was expecting the green light would be given for more funds to be released. This hearing was adjourned though and therefore no funding has been sent in February. Perhaps others can confirm if this is correct or not, but that is my understanding of it.
-
One thing I will add to my suggestion that the court will not give permission to release the funds. If Waggott or the owners were sure they would, why when we have just broken our outgoing transfer record, are there no funds available? I suspect that Waggott already either knows, or strongly suspects that there are no funds coming.
-
Exactly so how does that leave the club if they rule that no funds are to be released until it reaches a conclusion.
-
I have serious reservations about the funds being released in March. When I had my meeting with Waggott in November, he was cock sure that a precedent had been set and for that reason, was almost guaranteeing the funds will be in the bank in February. Well they aren't and although the adjournment may well be due to court pressures, I have this sneaky feeling that the ED investigations, are more serious than some people are making out. Before the season started, it seems to have been dressed up as Indian tax changes, but not that looks like a cover up, as admitting there were being investigated would not have come out, had it not been spotted by an eagle eyed fan.

The JDT V Mowbray argument is all well and good, but Mowbray and Waggott are mates. To a degree he got his own way, because of it. JDT has called Waggott out and got nothing this year, other than a huge funding cut and failure yet again in 2 transfer windows. He won’t be here for us to see if the press the button gate costs us relegation, but O’Brien gate almost certainly did cost us a play off place and who knows beyond that. I don’t remember Mowbray being let down anywhere near as much. He has his faults, but I truly believe we have let a gem slip though our fingers with JDT and will live to regret it.

The bit at the end is obviously about JDT going. He was not in the meeting and as the LT have already said, they don’t expect him to be the manager for the next match. Josh has kept schtum as requested, but was good enough to mention a bit was kept secret. Im as sure as I can be that’s correct.

I think Duncan went and will no doubt post too.
-
Yeah just heard this too. I feel sorry for him

That *was* the January Window

I don't know if they can, but I call upon the trust to issue a vote of no confidence in the board of that is possible. We at at the trust have read the clubs statement regarding the Duncan McGuire and call a vote of no confidence in the board of Blackburn Rovers football and Athletic club and demand that they resign with immediate effect. After the fiasco of last years January transfer window, which in all likelihood cost the club a place in the play offs and a possible return to the premier league, we are now faced with a very similar situation, which we currently fear, may lead to relegation. Assurances were given last year that procedures had been out in place to ensure this did not happen again, but here we are 12 months on, faced with exactly the same situation and a player unable to play for the club, due to staff incompetence. As fans we deserve a full and proper explanation and not a simple statement ending the club will not comment any further and therefore recommend a full refund of all season tickets bought, as the season ticker holders have not only been let down again, but also badly short changed. In addition to that we hereby recommend to our membership and wider supporter base, that no season tickets are purchased for the 2024/25 season, until a fan elected representative is appointed to the board to ensure the club is returned to a proper structure and some integrity is offered to the fans. -

One other important factor here too, Steve and Tony are pals. -

Rest assured, if it was good news, we would have known. The might try to bury it, under some other news, such as Greg has walked or Steve has been recruited by Tesco Burnley branch. -

There is a fair chance he will point out that he thought we were signing Madonna, who is till very much alive and could provide the half time entertainment. Speaking of which, whose was at fault for the failed Elton John concert? Did we make a mess of that paperwork too?
