  1. I think ironically whichever of Armstrong or Brereton Mowbray decides to play down the middle - they have a quiet game. Both seem more comfortable coming in from the wing.
  2. First time I've seen Dolan and I was concerned about his size when he first came on, thinking he'd be flighty. Don't think I've seen him knocked off the ball bar two obvious fouls. Intelligent with his body.
  3. You can tell he's a converted midfielder. If you didn't know any better, off today's game. You could be forgiven for thinking Wharton was our steadfast centre half and Lenihan the perennial loanee.
  4. I don't want to see Bell wear the shirt again. Absolutely terrible, looks completely disinterested and incapable.
  5. Agreed. Going forward on the overlap he's made 2 or 3 intelligent runs this half. But it's obvious defending isn't his forte.
  6. On another note. Someone's going to get injured this season if the pitch remains in this condition. Huge pockets of grass and soil being dug up, players losing their footing. And at least one poor challenge partly caused by the turf.
  7. Saw him a couple of times last season. Always looked decent. He is a left footer as has been mentioned. Bit of a cult hero at Charlton. On a free on the face of it, looks a good signing. I can't find it at the moment. There's a video somewhere of a ball he puts in the box for Lyle Taylor against Forest last season. If it was Robertson or Alexander Arnold, Sky would be waxing lyrical. Edit: found the video, looks like it's been filmed using a potato.
  8. There's (rightly) a lot of stick towards the senior leadership as to our usual speed in the transfer market. I'm actually rather impressed at how we've moved very swiftly onto the next target, once we got an experienced keeper through the door. Long may this trend continue.
  9. His brother plays for Skem, so maybe he wants to stay in the North West to be close to family. I'd still expect however as a professional footballer, you'd want to take an opportunity in the PL if the opportunity arises. So if its a straight race between us and WBA, i don't think we have a prayer.
  10. From a fitness perspective, he should be fine for when the season starts. If I remember correctly, the Belgian league (like Ligue 1) ended their season early. So he's had a decent break and then a somewhat "proper" pre-season, with their league already 2 games into the season.
  11. Maybe there's the option to drop the offer to Downing who doesn't seem interested, to give Westwood a decent wage (less than the reported 30k he's on). It's what I'd do if I was Mowbray.
  12. If Monaco are looking at that keeper, he can't be terrible surely?
  13. Sadly not the case Chaddy. I remember hearing a few weeks ago about Valladolid's defender Mohamed Salisu "on his way to England" to sign for Southampton. It'd all gone quiet until yesterday when they announced the signing and mentioned he'd passed a medical after being required to follow UK quarantine rules for however many days it was. You'd have to imagine now that most players signed are going to be UK based.
  14. Also has a brother (Harry) who plays for Stoke. On loan at Fleetwood last season and played the majority of games. 21 year old I think?
  15. Agreed. He stood out like a sore thumb in that Fulham defence that got relegated two seasons ago.
  16. So you basically give them the potential pro's. "Look Madame, if we organise the budget before the season ends, we could get a march on our rivals. There's the potential for us to get some good players at lower prices that could really push us on." That's not nagging, that's explaining the landscape and business benefits of quick decision making.
  17. Wasn't he the one we were looking at for a while and waiting for an answer before having to quickly pick up Walton? I may be mistaken, but I thought that was mentioned on here last summer. Look at what we could've won.
  18. Just to clarify, do you mean stop anyone attending a matchday at Ewood who is under 16 years of age?
  19. I can't imagine the amount of money being spent this "summer" as in recent years, by many clubs. For a start, how will clubs comply with FFP now and in the future? With minimal revenue coming in and still all the expenditure. Unless I'm wrong, owners can't just pump money in to balance the books nowadays (although I know that's up for debate). As it stands, I'd take 15m for Dack. Which is a shame as he's a joy to watch when he's on song.
  20. Chaddy, you need to look at yourself and think about the words and phrases you use. I'm convinced you don't mean it maliciously - but all the same, take a breath before pressing post. For what it's worth, If Shearer isn't in the first 2, there should be uproar.
  21. The exact tactic employed at the start of the season, and it didn't work. We faffed about with the ball between the back 4, before Del went diagonal to Gallagher.....issue was, it kept bouncing off him to either an opponent or into no man's land where we were slow to pick up the second ball. If we were going to employ that tactic again, I'd rather Samuel play there. He's shown more ability at controlling and holding up the ball in 2 games than Gallagher has all season.
