  1. Look more comfortable with Travis on, and suddenly their left isn’t as keen to take on Nyambe. Fancy that.
  2. He’s made the changes I would, apart from Rodwell off instead of Mulgrew.
  3. ‘What the fucking hell was that?’
  4. Commentators really emphasising how often we’re giving the ball away
  5. It pinned me to Preston/East Lancs! Very good!
  6. Just to update you all, Brereton’s missed tap-in just came through my roof.
  7. Next game: Raya; Nyambe, Rodwell, Mulgrew, Williams; Armstrong, Travis, Reed, Bell; Dack; Graham. We NEED some defenders.
  8. Sorry Tony, something’s going wrong. Put it right ASAP
  9. Not full time yet, but that game is 3 points dropped every time.
  10. I take everything back about Bell offering nothing going forward.
  11. It might be the camera angle but it looks like there are hardly any yellow-shirted players at times!
  12. Have to say, I’ve enjoyed BB’s performance up front. Not a chaser like Graham, but happy to dribble forward and just push it out into the channels. Needs to make sure he’s ready for the ball coming into the box though, instead of hanging round the D.
  13. I’m starting to wonder if my claim that ‘Second is fine’ last season has rubbed off on the team. Last 2 or 3 games have been pants. In fairness we’ve actually played well but why is our underbelly so exposed? Get some proper defending done at the back!
  14. Smallwood off for Dack or Rothwell please. Bell-end off for a traffic cone.
  15. Bell, that was atrocious defending.
  16. Not Buffon, Rev?
  17. I like to think that our academy side getting a win over Stanley reflects well on the standards of our youth setup, rather than reflecting badly on Stanley. Question to more knowledgeable posters: Did Travis truly ‘stand out’ at u23 level, because he certainly has in his senior matches. Maybe some more of them really are due a call-up?
  18. I’ve pondered it for an hour or so, and wonder if fans would be more accepting of our position if Brereton had only cost the same as Armstrong? Around £1.5m? Because without that ‘£7m spent’ tag (and Brereton hardly playing for us as it is), I think our form and place in the table so far looks about right. I said from the start of the season that staying up is the goal, and anything from around 14th and above is a good season imo.
  19. I think based on this post alone, I can say ‘pot and kettle’. I took the context of your initial post, saying Mowbray is ‘not the man to take us up’, as THIS season, seeing as all we have to go on are midtable form with a League 1 team this season. If we stay up, that’s job done for this season. Consolidation should always be the aim, next season we should be aiming at a playoff spot though imo.
  20. Don’t be so dense. If he’d taken us up this season he’d be one of a handful in the history of English football to have done so.
  21. I think we should consider inducting players who were not legends, and never will be, yet played a very significant part in our history; either length of service or extremely important bouts of form. So they may not truly be legends, but they gave us something important and made us love them for a while at least. The example I’d like to give is Jon Stead. He did very little over his whole time here, yet his immediate impact in his first half-season (latter half of the 03-04 season) personified our perpetual ‘punch above our weight’ history. Stead became our second-top scorer that season with 6 goals, 4 of them winners vs Boro (his debut), Fulham, Utd, and Everton. Without those goals, we would objectively have been 8-10 points worse off, putting us within a point of relegation. Without the confidence those goals inspired, we may even have been relegated that season. An inspired piece of business, by a flailing Graeme Souness, who eventually found his level lower in Football League as a journeyman Championship player. I’d also point out he never celebrated a single goal (scored by himself or a teammate) against us after he left.
  22. Imo, yes absolutely. However, future years will need ‘headline’ inductees to attract sales.
  23. I’d argue that anyone who has made a significant, positive impact on the club should be included. Even backroom staff, admin staff, and fans! #BirdyForHOF2020
  24. You can see it going utterly a rye at Bolton. It’ll go against the grain if Warburton manages to get a rise out of these players.
