It didn't come across as a joke, it legit came across as misogyny. Not all of us would understand that's a 'paraphrased quote' from a character, and if I'm being honest even this explanation comes across as a clumsy excuse for a genuinely held view. Benefit of the doubt, I suppose.

In fairness, every account I can find is that the O'Brien deal was lined up mid-December, but made clear it would be a Deadline Day deal if it went through. Makes it all the more annoying we weren't prepared with 6-weeks notice.
